That’s where we’re at.

There definitely is a “cult”-like contingent of the AEW fan base, just like there was with ECW (yeah, yeah, why am I comparing?). It goes with the territory; they’re taking on the behemoth, it’s David vs. Goliath, you find it with pretty much every sport, and in many facets of life beyond. Thing is, there’s a contingent of WWE fans that are very much the same (but we don’t talk about <s>Bruno</s> that so much).

The thing is, if these “AEW Tweets that ALWAYS bring up WWE” are so ubiquitous it should be really easy to use one as a starting point/further evidence to your point. But you haven’t done that. You’ve doubled down, then tried to move the discussion in a different direction. That’s what you’re taking flack for. It’s not “AEW fans closing rank”, nobody has “taken offence”, it’s your inability to go “yeah, do you know what, that tweet I used didn’t actually provide an example of what I’m talking about, bad example. Here’s a bunch that do.”

It’s very similar to what Noid does, which is why you get lumped together; seemingly always trying to have the “last word” as if that means you “win”, and a complete inability to just reflect on the words that you have said.

That’s only true if there is a 0% chance anything goes wrong in AEW. Whether it’s bad booking, feeling stifled, feeling like you’re carrying your programs too much of the time, money, freedom or the company fucking around your friends — there’s definitely reasons why a guy might get frustrated with his boss.

By the way, Defender Dave is reporting that this story is true. His damage control consists of him saying that they’ve sorted it out and didn’t have a physical altercation (lol wtf?), but if Dave is conceding that the story is essentially true and it doesn’t make AEW look wonderful? Well, make of that what you will.

It’s UNLIKELY this leads to MJF quitting tomorrow or whatever. That wouldn’t be a smart move even if there was legitimate interest in going to the WWE on his end (despite his recent jabs). But there appears to be smoke to this fire. If, how and when that kicks off remains to be seen.

To what end? A work is supposed to lead to something. It’s supposed to make you money. A contract dispute between Tony Khan and MJF is not going to do that. People sweep bad news from the AEW camp under the rug under the guise of “work” all the time. They did the same thing about Cody.

I’m not saying the guy isn’t working a gimmick. He’s Pillman’d it so he can talk trash either way and people say “Haha, MJF!” He obviously watched the show, which is a waste of energy I wouldn’t have committed to, but him mocking it as a heel can cut both ways. He’s making himself bulletproof. He ribs Bruce, but Bruce might even be in on that. Eg. Jimmy Del Rey was presented as the kayfabe cousin of the Prichards in SMW because Cornette knew he was sending Bruce the tapes.

But the content of it is not even the point. The dispute is. Allegedly it is about money and whether or not he should have approved the interview in the first place, and whatever has fallen out from that. Different things.

And yeah, Meltzer is out of the WWE loop and is kept in the dark about AEW like a mark. But if EVEN he is reporting truth to it and it makes them sound like a mess people are going to scream “work!” about, then it’s like your own doting mother testifying against you on the stand. It’s about the only time you should take her testimony seriously.

Doesn’t mean it’s going to lead anywhere! But given the mess AEW is and how there are way more politics going on there than people think—I actually believe the core story. TK and MJF got into a bit of a tiff that is probably about way more than one incident. Can they sort it out like big boys? Of course. But it doesn’t mean there wasn’t a tiff and that one or both parties are going to get more and more frustrated.

It will be all of them. Toni, Moon, Nox, Kim, they will ALL debut, and get paired in other random faction. Kim and Moon join Keith Lee. Toni Storm will join JAS. Nox will join with Nyla and Vickie. They will all be all time record breaking debuts. Dynamite will get an extra 35,000 viewers. In three weeks they will no longer be the 4 newest signings, as Tony will add at least two more new people by then.

Athena should be Deonna’s opponent at Supercard of Honor and be saved for that. Whoever else can be Bunny’s opponent in AEW.
