This week’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw did an average viewing audience of 3,884,667 viewers on the USA Network. That’s up an average of +830,667 viewers from the week prior and much more like it. Why on earth did it take Vince McMahon, Triple H and company so long to figure out they needed to start trying again? Below is how the show did each hour:

Hour one – 4,043,000 viewers
Hour two – 3,786,000 viewers
Hour three – 3,825,000 viewers
Average – 3,884,667 viewers
In terms of breakdowns, the third hour was almost a million more (975k) compared to last week and one of the biggest ppv bumps in recent months. Ratings wise, highest since late August. Next 3 weeks could be an issue since its either taped stuff or the Slammy show that gets rushed for stuff. Observer had a good breakdown of both the good and bad from last night's RAW with some historical stuff: http://www.f4wonline.com/wwe-news/po...ratings-203821

Sources close to Barrett tell us he received a bad stinger while wrestling a few weeks back and now he’s taking time to let it heal. However, we’re told it’s not serious and he should return soon.

No word on how the injury occurred, or who he was wrestling.

I think if SmackDown can become a hybrid of the two, we'll have a winning formula regardless of who's on the microphone. But since it's going to be me, I love that it's playing to my strengths. I think they want to set us all up to succeed.

It's going to be a new look and a new sound with the move to USA on Thursday, January 7.

BEING FAIR TO FLAIR Based on the calvacade of comments I received over the past two weeks beginning with the words “Did you hear what Ric Flair said about you” or headlines reading "Flair critical of Foley" - complete with thoughtful links, to make the criticism so much easier to find - thought I would eventually have to respond. But then I clicked onto one of those helpful links and read Ric's actual words. There's no story here. No controversy. Ric’s criticism of me was mild at worst. Besides he’s Ric Flair. He’s pretty much earned the right to speak his mind about anything he wants in the wrestling world. I had the right to criticize WWE, which I did… Ric Flair had the right to criticize my criticism of WWE, which he did... But when we get to a point where I start criticizing Ric Flair’s criticism of me criticizing the WWE, the whole thing starts to sound pretty silly, doesn’t it? So let’s not go there. Instead of addressing a situation that isn’t actually there, let me share a little Foley-Flair story with you: following the Natalya vs Charlotte WWE NXT match at NXT Takeover on May 29th, 2014 - the match I still consider to be THE game-changer in ‪#‎WomensWrestling‬ in WWE - I spent several hours (more hours than any writing project I’ve done in the last three years) trying to express just how meaningful that match had been. I received a message from Charlotte telling me how much she appreciated my words, and I wrote back “You know, your dad and I might not agree on much...but we both believe in you.” WOOOOO!
From Mick Foley's official Facebook account. Flair basically claimed that it was unfair for Foley to be criticizing the WWE as a viewer because he didn't know what was happening behind the scenes.

Ok so what the fuck is Lucha Underground and where can I watch it online?

I've obviously heard of it, but I never checked it out. Just watched the season 2 trailer and there's a sniper, and motorcross, and dudes fighting terrorists in the desert.

What the fuck is this even, I guess is what I am asking.

#1-norm-fan 12-16-2015 11:00 PM

It's like a wrestling/intense Mexican drama combined. You'll either love it or hate it. But it's way fucking different than any wrestling show you've ever seen.

You know how sometimes people are like "If a wrestling company wants to succeed against WWE at this point, they've gotta be different"? Lucha Underground is basically someone saying "Fuck yeah, we'll be different! Careful what you wish for, muchachos!"

#1-norm-fan 12-16-2015 11:00 PM

Oh, and you can probably watch it on Primewire or something.

There, of course, was talk about a WWE return. Kurt said he knows why they didn't want him back last year and it's because of his DUIs and time out of the ring whilst with TNA. He expressed his thanks to Dixie Carter because she looked after him and got him clean, but he knew WWE didn't want him. That being said, Kurt told the audience he's been clean for 2 and a half years now and said that if he's coming back, then it's Wrestlemania 33 we should all be waiting for. Kurt openly said WM33 a few times in the next 10 minutes after this so it was pretty clear to the audience that he wants back and that's when he sees the next Wrestlemania he will appear at.
From a recent Q&A session Kurt Angle had about trying one more time to get a final match in the WWE with Mania 33 as his target. http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/...want-him-back/

Quote:

As part of the Q&A segment, Kurt was asked about Edge. Kurt laughed and brought up the hair vs hair match. He recalled Vince calling him into his office the afternoon of the event to discuss the match. Vince told Kurt out right "you're going bald" and told Kurt that his reason was because he was sick of looking at his receding hairline. Kurt told the audience that he accepted this and didn't have any issue with it at all. Vince ordered Kurt not to say anything about it to Edge and that "we're gonna f*** with Edge!" So Edge comes in and Vince tells him Edge is going to do the job that night and go bald. Kurt recalled that Edge's face went chalk white, he said ok and they both left. Outside of the office, Edge in a panic started saying to Kurt how he couldn't go bald because he grew his hair out to hide his ugly face. Kurt said it was hard to keep a straight face, but he told Edge that he has to do the job and if he didn't like it, then tough. Before the event, Kurt was walking backstage and saw that Edge was out front in the stands appearing to be crying. In the end, Edge was told 5 minutes before the match that it was all a rib and that Kurt was losing his hair that night.
Wacky Vince and Angle story from back in the day.

Man Punches Out Senior Citizen to Win Coveted Wrestling Championship

http://www.theouthousers.com/images/...ahon_size3.png
Attendees in Philadelphia were overjoyed at the senseless act of violence.

Crowds in Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Arena Monday Night erupted with glee as underdog Roman Reigns won the World Wrestling Entertainment World Heavyweight Championship after leaping in the air to punch a senior citizen in the head last night. The victory was the culmination of more than a year of chasing the title, in which Reigns defeated every superstar the pro wrestling company had to offer - sometimes several at a time. However, it was landing the "Superman Punch" on the 70-year-old man, who was not technically involved in the bout, that finally pushed Reigns over the top.

Reigns, who comes from a family of pro wrestlers and is beloved by children, has had difficulties winning the support of the crowd, often seeing his unsavory opponents cheered during matches ... However, after getting a running start, leaping into the air, and pummeling the elderly grandfather of six, whose testicles Reigns described earlier in the night as "shriveled prunes," Reigns was finally able to win over the fickle wrestling fanbase.

"When that old guy crumpled to the ring apron and lay still for several minutes, I was overcome with excitement," said one fan in attendance at the arena in the City of Brotherly Love. "I especially liked when, after the match was over and the man was still clearly unconscious, possibly requiring medical attention, Roman kicked him to the floor and posed for the crowd."

I didn't become a fan of Asuka until yesterday, those butt moves were awesome. Didn't get to catch her other stuff in NXT or pre-NXT. She has a bright future in WWE.

The announcers need to figure out where the butt is and stop calling them hips. That'd be sideswipe action. She is hitting them with her brownstar full force

The traditional name for the move is a hip attack. You can find this in the CAW section of the vidya games too. Maybe because they don't want to say "butt" or something? I dunno, but Trinity Uso is going to be pissed if they let Asuka keep the move, since it is her current finisher.

Evil Vito 12-17-2015 12:29 PM

<font color=goldenrod>I'm not quite sold on her yet but Nia Jax is definitely going to end up on the main roster at some point. She's an Anoa'i so she's bound to get a chance eventually.</font>

Heisenberg 12-17-2015 01:03 PM

Naomi doesn't use the butt attack all the time, plus I don't really pay attention to her matches, she's just there to me. She brings nothing. Here we have Asuka, who stares at ppl while they are cutting promos and a woman of the Butt Barrage. Even though Asuka reminds me of certain Asian women I've been with, I do applaud her as a wrestler and her match last night won me over as a fan.

Savio 12-17-2015 01:09 PM

But right now, the strongest Mania main event dynamic for the vibe and without leading to an outcome that people won’t want or isn’t the best thing (Undertaker beating Reigns isn’t the right move if he’s going to be the face of the company; Reigns beating Undertaker won’t make people happy, so it’s a match that is tough for an ending), the Lesnar match has the most potential. But the Cena match, which was the plan prior to the Rollins injury, whether he’s a face and it’s a passing of the torch in front of a record crowd, or a heel, also makes sense.

At the moment, WWE is undecided on who Reigns would be facing at Mania. Easiest is Cena vs Reigns but it could involve the dreaded Cena heel turn the company hates to consider.

If he’s even expecting 1 million viewers, that’s not good at all for the company long-term as they were falling below that on Spike, and Spike is a far higher profile station, far better for a pro wrestling show due to regular audience, and Spike at the time TNA left was in 24 million more homes than Pop is in right now

For those with Cablevision, POP managed to get a deal done to be carried by that provider although not in time for Impact's debut. Won't be till end of January that TNA shows will air there.

Also, NBC Universal, because they now have such a financial stake in WWE with five hours in prime time on USA, had worked hard to change the advertising community’s perception and it clearly has worked to a degree.

NBC has been working very hard to get those advertisers to change their views on wrestling and its working. Hedging all their bets on getting enough advertisers to cover whatever is getting lost by declining ratings and tv interest. Whether they stick around or not is all up to how well the WWE can keep them happy with good shows.

Some other sheet news includes:
  • WWE currently planning for a Scott Hall DVD/Blu-Ray set to be released during July 2016.
  • Ticket sales for Wrestle Kingdom 10 is currently a big issue for NJPW since the event still hasn't sold out yet compared to past years.
  • Observer confirmed rumors of a planned Shane McMahon dvd set being canceled for 2016.
  • TNA currently going after potential ROH wrestlers to sign a deal with the company once their ROH ends. Idea is to get enough surprise names for their debut show on POP or within the first few weeks.
  • Next season of Total Divas is currently scheduled to be going against TNA Impact in terms of wrestling-based shows.
  • Stardust rumored to be injured again although it wasn't specified by the Observer if this was a new injury or related to the one from last week. Seems like its a new one and possibly a concussion.
  • Both Jack Evans and Aneglico recently rejected offers by the WWE in order to stay in AAA and Lucha Undrground. Main source is in Spanish: http://www.wrestlination.com.br/2015...ack-evans.html
  • For those in the West Coast and interested in going to the upcoming Los Angeles house show that has Lesnar, WWE is currently offering free food vouchers to help beef up ticket sales for the show. Interest right now is a lot lower than the WWE was expecting.

Instead, POP TV will be picking up with the final two episodes of Impact for 2015, airing on Tuesday, December 22nd, and Tuesday, December 29th, both of which will be "Best of 2015" type shows. This week, their first hour will go head-to-head with a live Smackdown.

The 1/5 "live" show from Bethlehem, PA, will feature the semifinals and finals of the TNA title tournament that has come down to Bobby Lashley, Eric Young, Matt Hardy and Ethan Carter III. The company is saying it's a live show, but in the past, that has meant taping two hours before and airing it the same night.

As for the reason why, going off informed speculation it appears that for reasons unknown Shane would not have been involved with the new DVD and therefore the decision was made that a match compilation without any of his input was ultimately not as strong as one of the U.S. title.

The January 14th WWE NXT live event debut in Milwaukee will be held at the Turners Hall Ballroom, which is the same venue Ring of Honor runs when they're in town. It will be interesting to see if WWE asked for exclusivity when negotiating the deal for January. When a lot of the NXT expansion began back in the summer, it was reported that WWE contacted another venue ROH uses with the idea that WWE would run there if they no longer booked ROH.

The James Storm / Mickie James Train Skit:
"We hated it, we all hated it. When it was pitched to us, we all tried desperately to change it to something else but the guy in charge wasn't having anything to do with it and was convinced it would be great.

"There is truth that there was some sort of unknown, unreasonable heat between Riley and Cena. To the point where everyone on the roster thought that Cena was treating him in a way that was totally uncalled for. No one approached Cena about it, but the entire locker room was on Riley's side, a lot of condolences, and this is 'ridiculous, bro,' and it was every freakin' day. Cena thought Riley did something wrong every single day" Reks said.

Reks said that Cena did things to Riley, including going through his bag and berating Riley for certain supplements he was taking. Reks thinks that Cena did it in an effort to get Riley fired.

"Like, it's completely against the wrestler code to ever go through another wrestler's bag. One day, Riley walked into an empty locker room and Cena was just going through his bag. He found some pre-workout vitamins and b---hed him out for taking supplements, asking if he 'thinks this is ok.' Like, he was looking for a reason to get him fired," Reks said.
Recent AMA session with Tyler Reks on the supposed backstage issues between Cena and Riley that might have played a role in why Riley's singles push got killed. For some perspective, Reks hasn't liked Cena ever since he complained to management about Reks doing certain moves and the Cena's supposed hatred of Riley is due to both a small prank Riley once did to Cena and Riley standing up one time to Cena's antics against him. JTG's recent book also had a part dealing with the backstage feud between both guys. http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/...ry-alex-riley/

WWE is stupid if they don't eventually use Joe on the main roster. That's just leaving money off the table.

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-18-2015 11:22 PM

I think IWC over-values Joe. I agree though but i'm in the IWC too.

Simple Fan 12-18-2015 11:46 PM

I do think he's better than half the main roster and that may be over valuing him but its how I feel. I think he has just as much value as Del Rio and Sheamus and would fit right in to that spot on the card. For WWE not to use him on the main roster against guys like Cena, Owens, Del Rio, Ambrose, and Lesnar is a head scratcher. Obviously its just an Observer report but I could see it being true. He could also sign a main roster contract when his NXT deal is up. He has a lot more value than just being a NXT inhancent talent in my opinion.

A long, well-built Cena vs Joe feud where Joe is just bitter after spending 15 years being the "king of the minor leagues" while Cena was the "face of wrestling" and made more money than Joe will ever see in his life could potentially be outstanding.

We need more feuds with some actual depth and drama behind them as opposed to "I want the title" or "I attacked you because I'm a bad guy".
