Reiterating though, that after this game they need to do something to keep the franchise fresh, like incorporate all Nintendo franchises into the series.

First one had it's flaws, but it was still a good game, with a much more emotionally powerful campaign than most FPS games. (dat baseball field)

Looking forward to seeing how they've improved things.

The monster plant is really good during traffic or hazards. That fucker will eat almost anything provided he's not in recovery of his last chomp. Son of a bitch ate a boomerang coming back at me. Crazy.

The boomerang is basically a green shell with a second try tied to it. If you miss the first shot you can angle behind the other guy and ensure he gets hit on the rebound. It's also good for getting a red shell of your ass if you time it right.

Yeah Battle Mode is shit. It's only remotely viable a gametype on the smallest, simplest track (the first track), and even then I wish for an arena map. Kinda crazy they didn't roll with that for whatever reason. If DLC is to be attempted, let it be arena maps for Battle Mode.

I've slightly grown use to the Boomerang Flower now , it's not great, but it's ok. I still don't like the Piranha Plant, and I now just get rid of the Crazy Eight as soon as I get it as I don't give a damn about it.

New tracks are so fun, and they picked some good oldies too.

Can't wait to get some friends, a case of beer, and go nuts.

Ditto, though I was hoping to see more tracks from the Super Nintendo, GameCube and Wii. Tracks such as Koopa Beach, Choco Island 2, Daisy Cruiser, DK Mountain, Waluigi Stadium, Peach Gardens and Toad's Factory. Any of them would have been nice. Also, having Baby Park back would have been great, considering how crazy the game can get and even more so when playing online.

I'm just slightly disappointed at the lack of "old" older tracks, but that's probably down to me being a little biased when it comes to this sort of stuff. For example, I love Super Mario Kart, so I was hoping to see more tracks from it but instead, there's only one.

I've been thinking about that kind of stuff myself. Characters is one thing I was thinking about. I was thinking which new characters can they introduce to the next one. So far, I've got Kamek, a Hammer Brother, a Pianta and a Noki from Isle Delfino, Professor E. Gadd and a Bandit from Yoshi's Island.

If they were to incorporate other Nintendo franchises, then wouldn't a name change have to happen, as it would no longer be "Mario Kart" but more "Nintendo Kart"?

Fignuts 06-06-2014 02:38 PM

Pretty much. "Nintendo Kart" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue like "Mario Kart" though, does it?

What about Nintendo Grand Prix?

There are just so many new possibilities by expanding outside the Mario world. A track in Brinstar with a giant Kraid. A Corneria track in the middle of the war with Andross.

Today's News:
1) Bungie's former music composer, Marty O'Donnell, has recently filed two lawsuits against Bungie with one related to claims of unpaid benefits Bungie still owes him and the other related to his termination from the company.

2) Nintendo announces they are consolidating their European branch with around 130 employees expected to be laid off, their current headquarters to shut down in favor of a new one at Frankfurt, and at least one official warehouse to shut down.
http://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-...y-276072.phtml

3) SALES - Namco is currently holding a sale on Nintendo's European and Australian eShops from now until June 29th with discounts ranging up to 72% off and includes both 3DS and Wii U games.

4) Harmonix announces Fantasia: Music Evolved will be released on October 21st for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

ClockShot 06-06-2014 05:53 PM

Yeah, figured Marty's wrongful termination lawsuit would be showing up.

I like the sound of those examples.

If they were to do that, they could just make the next game a special "once only" game that would still be part of the Mario Kart series. Call the game something like "Mario Kart: Invitational" or whatever.

Also, the Piranha Plant weapon is growing on me now. I think maybe I didn't like it at first as I wasn't exactly 100% clear on how to use it. I was having a race online today and I was in first place when someone used a Blooper. I was currently using a Piranha Plant at the time, when just as the Blooper was about to spray it's ink, the Piranha Plant ate the thing in the blink of an eye. I wasn't expecting it at all, so I thought it was both cool and hilarious at the same time.

Speaking of online though, it's slowly being ruined for me now, as more and more people are fire hopping their way to victory. It just sucks the fun out of the race.

Kalyx triaD 06-06-2014 07:12 PM

Yeah that's getting around. Hopefully the game can patch it out. It's not hard to do or anything but in the grand scheme of things it just doesn't belong.

The part where they executed a child's parents in front of him kinda got to me. Other than that, it wasn't a terrible game.

Halo won't be the same without his haunting music. Bad form Bungie.

Kalyx triaD 06-08-2014 05:25 AM

Bungie doesn't make Halo games anymore. Didn't release the last one nor did Marty make music for it.

Ermaximus 06-08-2014 11:57 AM

Venom and Spider-Man confirmed in DI 2.0. Yes!

Super Smash Kart. Make Smash the series title for any cross series Nintendo game. Smash Golf, Smash Adventure etc.

OssMan 06-08-2014 06:42 PM

They should expand the Smash brand

Kalyx triaD 06-08-2014 06:53 PM

Let's just stick with guest Kart racers. That sounds cool, if only to see Link riding an Epona likened bike.

Drakul 06-08-2014 07:34 PM

The Wonderful 101 was supposed to star Nintendo characters instead of the superheroes. Maybe it would have sold if they stuck with that idea.

Kalyx triaD 06-08-2014 07:45 PM

That would have been weird.

Drakul 06-08-2014 07:56 PM

It would have made me very interested in the game. The demo did absolutely nothing for me, though.

Kalyx triaD 06-08-2014 08:14 PM

It's a very well made action game. Under the hood it's actually something akin to Devil May Cry or Bayonetta.

Drakul 06-08-2014 08:17 PM

Maybe I didn't give it a fair chance but it just didn't click for me.

Kalyx triaD 06-08-2014 08:20 PM

Yeah it's really strange at first. People would expect a platformer or something more casual by the looks of it.

Drakul 06-08-2014 08:26 PM

I expected a cross between Pikmin and maybe light RTS. Didn't seem to be either.

Show me your papers.

Fignuts 06-09-2014 01:31 AM

I just don't see the point in saying that. The tracks are where you can get really creative, and affect the gameplay.

Always reminds me of the boat level in the MoH where you're undercover and the German guard says that. In English, aswell. You press the button to show your papers but the animation makes it look like your shoving them right in the guards face, like you have some anger issues. "Here are my papers! *presses and rubs them against guards face* Satisfied?!"

They've done land, sea, air and antigravity. What's left without getting really ridiculous?

Kalyx triaD 06-09-2014 04:33 AM

They haven't done sea per se, as those sections are functionally still road racing. Sonic All Stars and Diddy Kong Racing did water racing.

Sepholio 06-09-2014 06:04 PM

A new Diddy Kong racing would be awesome.

Or at least a Mario Kart game that has a 'hub-style' overworld map with secrets abound. That would be epic.

Update to the fan-based remake of the original Metal Gear game news as the team developing it has cancelled all work for the project. No official reason was given.

Cool King 06-12-2014 09:44 PM

I'm reading some stories about how a new Xbox One advert featuring Aaron Paul is making people's Xbox One's turn on when Aaron Paul says "Xbox on".

It reminds me of that video a guy made of another Xbox One advert, that had a women in it say "Xbox, go to Dead Rising 3" and the guy's Xbox One launched Dead Rising 3.

Drakul 06-13-2014 02:34 AM

Is that advert with guy that seem to be an overgrown arrogant fratboy? Who the hell answers their phone with a semi-aggressive "Yo!"?

If the advert had sold me an Xbox one, that "Yo!" would undo it.

Drakul 06-13-2014 02:36 AM

Oh and that snap tv thing seems a little useless. My tv can do that on it's own anyway and I can have my Wii U and 360 onscreen at the same time.

...stil useless.

Drakul 06-13-2014 06:13 AM

Brain Training is free to download on the Wii U until 10th of July. This is in Europe and Japan. No idea about the US.
