I 100% agree, but it comes down to drawing power, and Jeff is a draw. That's all TNA cares about, that someone is (or they think someone is) a draw.
Would I put Jeff Hardy in a prominent position after main eventing WWE's second-biggest PPV? Absolutely. Would I hire Jeff in the first place, if I was in a place to hire people? No. It looks good on paper at first, but when it comes down to it, he's a flake, is in legal trouble and is a known drug user. He's a huge liability. But if I was a booker who was told "give Jeff Hardy something", I'm not putting him in the midcard or the tag division. |
I would not have put the title on him, though. Way too much shit can go wrong with him. It's dangerous to make someone the focal point of a company when he could OD or go to prison.

Would have been really good to keep Jeff and Rob off the mic as well. If TNA cared about the future they'd be pushing the hell out of AJ, Daniels and Joe. End of story. |
Would that be somebody on the internet judging somebody without obviously having not actually paid any attention recently to the subject? Surprising. The only valid point you have on that list are his legal troubles, which as Xero said, it comes down to drawing power and cash money.

Yes. The rest of your list is retarded.

SUCKS |
Do you think anybody outside of the internet (aka the other 97% of wrestling fans, you know, the one's who actually buy the PPV's, merchandise etc) care about him being a bit softer than he was in WWE?
|
Jeff Hardy won't take off his shirt for a reason, CSL. His mic work is still horrible. What are you in disagreement with me on?

To be honest, I really like his heel theme. Just think it sounds better as a face theme.

What it comes down to is most of my points were objectively true. Legal woes, health issues, the fact that he is barely coherent on the mic... Xero's mention of drug problems ties in nicely with both the legal and health points. And finally, can you point to any evidence that Jeff Hardy is drawing WWE fans/new fans to TNA? |

TNA's problem is that they're not going after the source of the problem. They've been steadily at a 1.0 rating for 4+ years.
Bringing Jeff in is a good move one way or another from a drawing standpoint. The problem with TNA is that it's now clear that bringing former major talents in (Angle, Foley, Sting, Hardy, Hogan etc) isn't going to help them move up or pop the ratings. They need to completely change the way the company is run. |
I'd agree with that. Every time I put on Impact I end up turning it off. I can usually sit through WWE angles/skits I don't like these days. The fact that the entire product to me, even if I only represent a small minority of fans, is bad for business.

You are blowing my mind with this rn DTTS.
1. He should be one of the top guys because he is the most over/undamaged by TNA's booking/popular guy that they have. Kids love him. Girls love him. Quite a lot of guys too. He covers lots of demographics. Hence him getting louder reactions than everybody in WWE and therefore getting pushed towards the World title. I think Vince McMahon has a decent idea about who he should push but obviously you're still correct. I can't say the same for TNA because there are about 17 people in the crowd. 2. This is the wrestling business. If you're bringing up legal issues as to why somebody shouldn't succeed then you either have no knowledge of the history of pro wrestling or are conveniently ignoring for the sake of your argument here. 3. His new song, whilst far from being great or anything, is a lot better as far as wrestling songs go than his old one and it works for him in his current form. And he is the one singing it. Ditto his promos. He's far from Roddy Piper but it works for him in his current form. 4. Your 'stating my opinion as fact despite clearly knowing jack' is the reason I responded to you in the first place. The facepaint stuff from here and on the other page for example. How many kids in the crowd had Jeff facepaint at WWE shows? A fuckload. He stands out. Which is one of the most important things you can do as a performer. And as far as I can tell, it's different everytime. Which makes your 'worst make up in the business' comment even more redundant. Sounds like one of those things somebody on the internet bitches about for no real reason. 5. I'm not stating that he is bringing new fans to TNA and I don't recall mentioning anything of the sort. I'm stating that going on the history of what has 'worked' in the history of pro wrestling, TNA are actually doing something that appears smart as opposed to putting some names in the TNA-patented Random Booking Generator and filming whatever it spews out. And that was far more than I intended on typing on all of TPWW today, let alone this thread. |

This is a BUSINESS. The kinds of things people got away with in the 90s don't fly like they used to. The landscape has changed. Quote:
I'll agree his new theme is a hundred times better than his old one but, come on, his mic work is barely intelligible. I'll change my mind if you can show me one promo he has done where he hasn't embarrassed himself and the company. Quote:
I'm stating opinion as opinion and objective truth as objective truth. The problem appears to be that I'm stating both side-by-side? I will also argue that his face paint in WWE looked like it was done by a professional while his face paint in TNA looks like he just gets high and starts finger-painting all over himself. I don't mind that he stands out but, for Christ's sake, Sting's makeup still looks awesome! Quote:

So I guess TNA isn't thread worthy anymore :p!

Seriously, I'm pretty sure the Hardy's are the biggest divas in the wrestling business. |
Wow.

Ya, the hardy's still are able to draw guys but they are one of the tragedies of wrestling. In other words, angry young girl made it to 4gifs:

I'm sure he's not making as much as he would have had he stayed in the WWE. He also had the charges pending so he probably opted for a quick-deal that favored TNA over his best long term finical interests. He is now a heel for the first time since like 1998 when he formed the New Brood with Jeff and Gangrel. It's not the biggest mistake in the world to give him the title, push him and see what happens. |
Where's Kurt Angle?

If you're really bothered by his out of ring behavior, then you must not be a fan of about 80% of professional wrestlers. |
