I wish TBS baseball coverage wasn't so terrible

Evil Vito 10-14-2016 01:32 PM

Ron Darling is so much better with Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez. Ron makes some great points about the pitchers but he needs competent people to riff with.

Ernie Johnson and Cal Ripken are terrible.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-14-2016 01:45 PM

Reynolds and his crew were just as fucking bad in the game lastnight. It's like they're teaching a crash course in how to NOT call ballgames.

Buck Martinez and Pat Tabler (Jays commentators) are not very good at all, but god I'd take their stumbling and bumbling over the TBS idiots. They at least have passion for what they are doing and clearly love calling the games and it kind of shines through much of their evident incompetence.

And I think Ron Darling is decent as well, but it's hard when you have no flow with the guys you're working with.

Evil Vito 10-14-2016 02:05 PM

Definitely. I feel like with a lot of the local broadcasters, they develop a very obvious rapport with one another and it becomes glaring when they're forced to partner up with people they don't work with as often.

Evil Vito 10-14-2016 02:06 PM

That I watched as many Mets games I did between 2009-2014 when the team was in the shitter is partially a testament to how entertaining Gary, Keith, and Ron made the broadcasts. I was far more likely to skip a FOX or ESPN broadcast when the game was otherwise meaningless.

Ruien 10-14-2016 03:15 PM

Keep making a prediction at work that the Cubs will be up 3-1 on Toronto but choke and lose 3 straight.

As much as u want the Cubs to win because Chicago rules, but fuck hearing it from the fans.

DaveWadding 10-14-2016 05:11 PM

Bitter White Sox fan is bitter.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-14-2016 06:20 PM

Costas, Matty V and Smoltz have all been great. The rest suck.

Not really bitter. I have been annoyed by Cub fans in my Facebook/high school circle since for as long as I can remember. It will just be worse if they win the entire thing.

DaveWadding 10-14-2016 06:53 PM

You mean kind of like how White Sox fans acted in 2005?

Ruien 10-14-2016 09:54 PM

Well, I am talking over a 15 year span. If you hated some fans for one year but not the other 14 you are ahead of the curve. Even when the Cubs are terrible they are still terrible. Imagine a bunch of Drofords on your Facebook wall.

Or you can continue to get defensive over nothing. You know, since this is just my personal experience with people on my Facebook.

Clerk 10-14-2016 10:11 PM

Let's go Windians boiii. Who dat! Who dat! Who dat said they gone beat them Indians who dat!

Evil Vito 10-14-2016 10:15 PM

Andrew Miller. 123 strikeouts, 9 walks. Holy fuck.

Droford 10-14-2016 10:20 PM

Might change my pick to Indians sweep I might have been too generous lol

Clerk 10-14-2016 10:53 PM

Sit down motherfuckers before we sit you down sucka

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-14-2016 11:39 PM

Estrada pitched a beaut. Jays hitters let him down. Nothing too surprising in that game.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-14-2016 11:41 PM

I find it interesting someone can call a sweep after a team loses one game. Droford at his finest analytically, adding to the thread as usual.

Nevermind when they Jays won in 92 they lost the first game of LCS and the world series.

Evil Vito 10-14-2016 11:50 PM

Indians pitching was filthy tonight. Not much you can do.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-14-2016 11:53 PM

Yeah, Kluber's stuff was pretty damned nasty. Pitched a ballsy game. Plus Andrew Miller is Andrew Miller. Jays will do better with more abs against him I think, no secrets with him tho, they know him well.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-14-2016 11:59 PM

Droford is just upset his team was not only eliminated, but done so embarrassingly while his manager sat on his hands and blew it. So he runs down other teams that are better or more successful.

Missed the game this evening but knowing how well the pitching is I'm not surprised.

Lock Jaw 10-15-2016 01:11 AM

Couldn't watch the game, but was looking at the "gameday" live on the MLB app...... seems like it was a pitching war...... Weird that Estrada pitched the whole game, but seems like he only made two mistakes (which admittedly cost them the game).........

Damian Rey 2.0 10-15-2016 01:20 AM

Happens. He gave up 2 runs. That's a gem every time. Not his fault Cleveland shut down the offense.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-15-2016 01:42 AM

Yeah, nothing a pitcher does when he gives up 2 runs over 8 innings is "costing his team the game". He was fucking unreal.

Lock Jaw 10-15-2016 01:48 AM

Yeah, badly worded my post........tired...... I know he did great......... was trying to make some sort of statement but failed............... don't make me punch your throat..........

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-15-2016 01:54 AM

lmfao

Damian Rey 2.0 10-15-2016 02:28 AM

Go to bed lock jaw. You're work drunk.

Damian Rey 2.0 10-15-2016 12:27 PM

Watching the replay now. Former padre prospect Corey Kluber is damn nasty

Damian Rey 2.0 10-15-2016 04:37 PM

Carlos Santana says como estas

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-15-2016 06:09 PM

Jays hitters not really interested in at bats. More just rolling over.

Evil Vito 10-15-2016 06:24 PM

Miller is fucking unhittable. Jesus.

Lock Jaw 10-15-2016 06:39 PM

F him

RP 10-15-2016 06:44 PM

It's pretty amazing how much the Yankees may have influenced this Postseason by trading Miller to the Indians and Chapman to the Cubs.

RP 10-15-2016 06:46 PM

The most underrated thing about Andrew Miller... the facial hair. Remember you can grow facial hair if you're on the Yankees. It may have added to his slider. Who knows.

Evil Vito 10-15-2016 06:47 PM

Yup. And I still feel like there's a very good chance of the Yankees bringing Chapman right on back next year. At minimum they'll surely be in the bidding war with the Cubs and probably the Giants.

Evil Vito 10-15-2016 06:48 PM

I still don't think the Jays will get swept but it's tough to imagine them winning when even a slightly below league average guy like Tomlin was able to shut them down.

Who knows though, maybe they'll get some home cooking in Rogers.

Cubs gave up there best prospect for him, but that prospect was a short stop and we're stacked in the infield for the next 10 years so it was all good.

Lock Jaw 10-15-2016 06:49 PM

Clutch time

Lock Jaw 10-15-2016 06:54 PM

Clutch time failed :(

RP 10-15-2016 06:57 PM

I'm pretty sure they wont hold the Blow Jobs bats down all series long.
