Quote:

According to the United States Patent & Trademark Office, on December 23, Disney chose to abandon the game’s trademark, letting it expire rather than filing for a renewal. So this should kill just about any doubts about the game being gone for good.

So what ever happened to all that 'cloud computing' crap MS was talking about? Wasnt that supposed to somehow allow devs to match (or exceed in theory) what they could do on the PS4?

Kalyx triaD 01-29-2014 04:39 PM

Cloud computing can pick up software weight in terms of AI, which is what Titanfall is doing. I don't know if it can actually help boost graphical power or a game's overall performance (framerate, controls) - which I assume rests squarely on the devs initial shipped product without any cloud help. The cloud couldn't do anything to help Battlefield 4's issues, for instance.

Wait... they canceled the DLC because "lack of interest". But they're giving money back to people who were interested? Or did the Season Pass itself not sell well?

Whatever.

Probably a combo of things with Warner Bros being slow to confirm anything for the Wii U version besides no multiplayer, DLC packs not selling well, and what alvarado52 said about the sales for the Pass itself being very low.

What are the odds Infinity totally backfires and Disney resurrects LucasArts?

Kalyx triaD 02-04-2014 11:21 PM

Why would that failing bring back LucasArts? And for what anyway?

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-04-2014 11:55 PM

I think he is talking about what Disney did with Pixar. They should have just made LucasArts the offical Disney game company like they basically did when they bought Pixar. Made the Pixar execs in charge of everything animation.

Kalyx triaD 02-05-2014 02:09 AM

Yeah but... why? LucasArts were not the rock stars they used to be. That's why I didn't care when Disney canned them.

Fignuts 02-05-2014 02:30 AM

Wasn't there news a while back that if Infinity didn't succeed, that future Star Wars games would be cancelled?

Back to vaporware for you, Battlefront 3.

Emperor Smeat 02-05-2014 01:55 PM

Think that might have been related to Disney as a whole and not tied to anything specific.

Disney went all in with Infinity to the point they were expecting it to immediately match or be better than the Skylander series and generates tons of cash to fund everything else.

So far its already sold 3 million starter packs and literally turned around their entire gaming division to become profitable but Disney wanted a lot more.
