The Wrestler- 9/10
|
A History of Violence 9/10
|
Burn after Reading - 7.5/10
Brad Pitt was pretty awesome in this film. |
The Craft 5/10 — I think I've run through every movie on HBO On Demand and this was kind of shit to be honest.
Fear 6/10 — A movie with Markie Mark, Gil from CSI, the blonde from Legally Blonde (can't remember her name for fucks sake). Not a bad thriller. Kind of predictable, cookie cutter storyline but it was mildly entertaining to have on in the background. |
Get Smart - 5.5
|
Frost/Nixon - 4/5
From the trailers on TV and theatres, I thought "Damn. This looks hardcore but with zero action. I might like this." Then I go and see it, and it was kinda mellow all the way through. |
The Weatherman 6/10
It had okay points in it (Michael Caine being most of them). He's not in it very much though (but it's the appropriate length of time for his character). |
True Romance 7.8 - 10
|
Pineapple Express 9/10
Don't mess with the Zohan 6/10 |
Burn after reading 8/10
|
Doomsday 3/10
Total clusterfuck of a movie. |
Underworld-Rise of the Lycans: 6/10

Or just download it now if it's available. |
If you're really into the Underworld series, go see it. But it's just a middling action flick to me.

Tropic Thunder 8/10
TC and Downey are immense. |
Night And the City 7/10 — DeNiro flick from '92 where he plays a fast talking lawyer, gets into boxing promoting. Fairly entertaining, comedic with a little drama sprinkled in.
|
Man On The Moon - 7/10
I'd seen part of this before but actually sat down and watched it this time. Enjoyable enough. |
Taken - 5.5/10.
The acting in this movie is very top notch, especially Maggie Grace. Other than that, Liam Neeson kicked ass and took names. |
Frost/Nixon 9/10
I had absolutely no interest in seeing it and ended up loving it. |
Saw V: 4/10
Not a goddamn thing happened in this movie except for flashbacks and some people died. I mean, I know most folks don't like Saw already, but I keep watching for the wacky plots and ridiculous, half nonsensical twists. This didn't even have that much. The big twist was that there wasn't any twist. It might as well have been Hostel. |
Milk: 8.5/10
|
Before The Devil Knows You're Dead 9/10
Great fucking film |
Inside Man 5/10.
|
R U crazy?

Ghost Town

Amelie 9/10
beautiful, amazing, funny, sweet |
Blood Diamond
9/10. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie |
In the Valley Of Elah 7/10 — Tommy Lee Jones plays a father of a soldier back from Iraq who goes missing and he pretty much investigates into it himself. Jones got nominated for an best actor Oscar, pretty good.

Resident Evil: Degeneration 7/10
Much beter than the live action efforts. Leon is the man. |

But if I remember correctly, it was awesome, its a 5 out of 10....I really enjoyed it, except the fact that the ending confused me. Clive Owen, what exactly did he do? Did he steal a bunch of diamonds and just leave? I'ma go and watch it again and rerate. |
You really should. The film is very very good
Also, Gone Baby Gone - 9/10 Another great movie. Love Casey Affleck |
Max Payne - 2/5
Somebody call Funky Bunch, he's in a bit of a downspin. |
Whalberg is a one dimensional actor.

Benny and Joon - 7/10

American Graffiti-9/10

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: 10/10

Italian Job was awesome. And yes, he is an excellent actor.
But what I meant was, before Max Payne he was in The Happening. Both really aren't that good. That's why I'm kind of worried. |
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - 3.5/5
Too long and alot of the story could have been cut out or cut short. People in front of me ducked out early. Tip: Buy a large soda. Almost fell asleep. |
IT - 6/10
|
Pride & Glory - 4.5/5
|
I really do like Wahlberg's movies, for the most part. Sure, he's been on a bit of a downturn recently, but he's done some solid stuff.
Examples: I Heart Huckabees Three Kings Four Brothers We Own The Night The Departed Boogie Nights |
Mark Wahlberg is a fucking terrible actor. Instant Classic calling him one dimensional was being kind
|
Mark Wahlberg can be a good supporting guy, but if your letting him carry a movie then that movie more then likely is going to suck.
|
Yeah pretty much what Legend said.
|
Pride and Glory 10/10
|
The Laramie Project 7/10
|
Fat Albert 3/10.
Transporter 2 - 6/10 |
The Wrestler 9/10
I loved the movie, but I'm still undecided whether I liked the movie enough to give a 9.5 so I'll just give it a 9 and call it a day. |
Hancock - 7.5 of 10 Better than I thought it was going to be.

The Deer Hunter 8/10
It was long, but not Peter Jackson "Let's Stare at this Ring and Walk around a Mountain B-Roll for Three Hours" long. |

Pan's Labyrinth 8/10
I was expecting something much different than what it turned out to be. Not sure that I would have applauded for 22 minutes at Cannes or wherever that occurred, but it was pretty good and I'm not French. |
Beer For My Horses: 7/10 Mainly because of Rodney Carrington
|
Troy 5/10
Hated the changes they made. |
Pineapple Express 3/5
|
Taken 10/10
Badass movie. Seriously. Once it got going, it kept going. No bullshit, just straightforward action with a good story. No cheesy ending either. |
Zack and Miri Make a Porno: 6.5/10
Good but not great. Didn't care much for how the comedy fell off during the end of it. |
Transsiberia 7.5/10
Solid film, nothing spectacular (except Kate Mara) |
Appaloosa 3/5
|
Casualties of War 9/10
|
Death Race 3/10 — Eh, the only points it gets is for the cars with guns a la Twisted Metal but even then, just your typical Statham movie.
|
Mirrors 7/10

The Spy Who Loved Me - 3/5
I've finally seen all the Bond movies. |
The Facts of Life (1960: ) 10/10

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - 7/10

You know what? I missed the first 20 minutes and then about 10 minutes somewhere in the middle. I could have rewound, but it was kind of late so I just plowed through. I really dropped the ball here.

The cinematography was amazing, and Casey Affleck was brilliant. Pitt was pretty comfortable in his role as James, but he was definitely outshined by Affleck in this one. I thought it was a really gritty, somewhat brutal representation of things that went on back there. They did a good job, I thought, of showing just how ruthless he was, while still remaining very human and likeable.
My only complaint was that it was so long, but I am ok with long movies as long as they are good. Pretty much everyone I know refuses to even give it a shot, because they know that Affleck's character will kill James and they hate the fact that a 'pussy is gonna kill a badass'. But then, most of them have horrible taste in movies majority of the time, so I don't expect them to enjoy it anyways. |
I think my favorite bit of the film involves James' body, when they are taking pictures of it and then turning it into a spectacle. The whole shot of people watching while the narrator talks about how much money was offered for the corpse while Ford went on to "assassinate James over 800 times" was a brilliant role reversal. I think that worked so well because most of what Jesse did in the movie wasn't shown, so he isn't "that bad." Unless I missed that part at the beginning.

Death Race is action. I like action.
|
Death Race was quite enjoyable
|
The Wrestler - 5/5
Notorious - 3.5/5 The Fly - 4/5 No Country For Old Men - 2/5 Bug - 2.5/5 Cloverfield - 4/5 Quarantine - 3/5 The Prestige - 5/5 The Usual Suspects - 4/5 The Mist - 3/5 |
Taken - 3.5/5
Pretty good movie. But I felt that there were some loose ends that should have been tied up. That and the trailer for Cena's movie made me kinda depressed. |
RocknRolla - 7/10
Guy Ritchie delivers a enjoyable movie, not as good as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels or Snatch though. |

Death Race is just an action movie. If you want to see some cool explosions, car crashes, and racing, watch it. If you're expecting anything more than that, then forget it about. Like Ian Mcshane says in the movie "Fast cars, pretty women, its all about the ratings."
Natalie Martinez in that movie was  |
Wanted 6/10.
Better than I expected, but was kind of expecting more. Thought there should have been more ridiculous action scenes like the one in the beginning. I'm not a fan of Angelina Jolie, but I thought she did good in this. Last line in the movie is inspirational. |

Also: The Wrestler 10/10 The Prestige 250000000000000000000000/10 |
Captivity - 4/10
The only thing that was watchable was Elisha Cuthbert's rack. Seriously, avoid this movie like the plague. |

I :lol:ed and then proceeded to talk about how awesome it was with another friend who loved it. |
Req, is this one of the guys who won't give Jesse James a shot because he knows the ending?
Ben Hur-8.5/10 - So long. Great movie, but dated. What I mean by that is that every generation has some image of what they think the Roman empire should look and sound like. Imparting the 1959 look and dialogue to it is something to get over at first, but the story and the characters hold up. But as good as this was, If I'm going to watch a "classic," I'd rather watch something that was filmed in the time rather than a historical work. |
Alien vs Predator: Requiem - 5/10
Just a series of bloody scenes with very little attempt at telling a story. Also found certain choices of victims distasteful (kids, pregnant women? c'mon...). Some cool visuals (Predator home planet!) and one interesting poke at mythology (Ms. Yutani, huh?), but ultimately a badly shot wasted effort. Still waiting on a decent AvP movie, I guess. Trivia: The subtitle, "Requiem", refers to the title track in the score that merges the two movie icon's scores. In that sense it also refers to the Predalien (which looked great). |
Yes, actually. One of the friends I was referencing, in fact. He has 'some' good taste in movies, but generally we have pretty different tastes. He has a ridiculously short attention span when it comes to movies.. refuses to watch There Will Be Blood because he thinks it looks boring.. didn't like No Country for Old Men.
|
The Foot Fist Way 8/10
Very similar to Napoleon Dynamite in terms of cinematography, but had some really funny and awkward moments. |

Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder - 8/10 Good ol' Futurama, it never disappoints me. |
The Game - 3/5
City Of God - 4/5 12 Monkeys - 2.5/5 |
Ratatouille 7/10 - Alright.. could have been better, but I enjoyed watching it.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 10/10 - Never saw this until earlier today, and loved it. |
