Rob 06-19-2004 08:39 PM

What if he went to Man United though?

Cactus Sid 06-19-2004 09:19 PM

He wont.

United wouldn't spend £35 million on him, and if Liverpool had an equal bid from Chelsea, they wouldn't accept it anyway.

OssMan 06-20-2004 01:43 AM

I'm rooting for Crystal Palace.

That's not the point. My alter ego said he wouldn't treat him like the Leeds fans treated Smith so to get a fair comparison, I asked would he feel the same if Liverpool's best player went to United.

Me too but Palace really need to buy about 4 or 5 decent players to have a real chance of staying up otherwise it's relegation back to div 1

Rob 06-21-2004 05:45 PM

They need 11 decent players. They don't have one player of Premiership quality. Wolves and Leicester had far stronger squads and went down this season. I can't see the three who came up standing a chance.

Well whilst the three of them would be favourites to go down, everyone was saying the same about Bradford - nobody in the squad who belongs in the Premiership etc etc, and they stayed up (for one season at least).

Thatcher has joined Man City, RBF won't be pleased with him:$

City have also signed De Villeger, the Belgian keeper.

I'd feel the same, he played his heart out for us this season and if he joined I'd be pissed off but i applaud him for the service he has given us.

To be fair, he is guaranteed first team football at Man City, what with Tarnat leaving, and he would have had to compete with Taylor at Pompey.

Portsmouth and Everton have had offers of £450,000 for Marcus Bent accepted. He'd be a great buy for either of them.

I would love Marcus Bent to come back to Palace we only sold him cause we was broke

Oxstar 06-23-2004 02:08 PM

Everton boss David Moyes has made his first foray into the transfer market by signing striker Marcus Bent from Ipswich on a three-year deal.

Bent, who spent last season on loan at Leicester, scored 10 goals for the Foxes last season, including a last-minute equaliser against Everton at the Walkers Stadium in March.

Manager David Moyes beat off competition from Portsmouth and West Brom for his signature.

Everton agreed a fee in the region of £450,000 with Ipswich on Tuesday allowing Bent to complete a medical on Merseyside on Wednesday before putting pen to paper. He will officially join the club on July 1.

Moyes claimed Bent's versatility in attack was a major reason they were interested in bringing the former Blackburn Rovers man to Goodison Park.

He told the club website: "We're delighted to have Marcus.

"He'll give an added dimension to the squad because he can play up front and he can play wide right. He's a good age and he's a price at this present time we could afford.

"He's got athleticism, he's quick, he's good in the air and we'll be looking to fit him in the squad. I'm intending bringing in more players and hopefully Marcus is only the first of many.''

Wengerland 06-23-2004 02:10 PM

Yeah, him and Rooney would be a goods front line, if they get rid of Radzinski.

Oxstar 06-23-2004 02:16 PM

Ok so now I'm seriously pissed off, Julian Gray has left Palace and joined Birmingham on a 3 year contract, he must be fucking stupid he isn't gonna get a game at Birmingham where as at Palace he would have been 1st choice, I can't wait to see him rot in their reserves. Hopefully Palace will try and buy Matt Etherington off West Ham to replace Gray.

I reckon Radzinski will go to Fulham and Rooney to Chelsea, Bent can play upfront with Ferguson.

Early prediction : Everton to be relegated if they sell Rooney

Wengerland 06-23-2004 03:31 PM

Yeah,i'm not really worried about Leeds for next year, though Sheffield United have made same buys who look good for The Championship - Hayles, Harley, Liddell (Wigans record scorer), Quinn and Bromby (from Sheff Wed).

Oxstar 06-23-2004 07:23 PM

Michael Ricketts to Leeds? he might be really good in Div 1, anyway I fucking hate Leeds

El Capitano Gatisto 06-23-2004 07:29 PM

He was great in the first division for Bolton.

Frank Grimes Jnr 06-24-2004 03:02 AM

Wayne Rooney is so fucken overrated!!!!!
50 million pounds my arse. I wouldn't pay him 50 pounds unless he lost 50 pounds.
I know he carved up Croatia but thats for his country, not for his club.
He didn't nothing for Everton this year and to put that much of a price tag on his head is ridiculous.
During an Australian interview Martin Tyler said that he could say Wayne Rooneys name in the same breath as Pele, Maradona, Cruyff and Beckenbauer.
WHAT A LOAD OF SHIT!!!!!!!

Frank Grimes Jnr 06-24-2004 03:03 AM

Excuse the spelling, I'm just really pissed off to check if I was grammatically correct.

Grimey Jr you took the words right out of my mouth. Rooney is good but he is never worth 50 million pounds. He had an average season last year. Comparing him to Pele or Maradonna is an insult to the both of them. Very few will ever come close to being as good as them and Wayne Rooney isn't one of them.

Danny Electric 06-24-2004 01:26 PM

Rooney did have an average season but he had an average team around him.
He's showing that with quality players around him how good he can play.

Chelsea rumoured (according to the Daily Mail anyway) to be preparing a bid of £20m PLUS Duff AND Parker for Gerrard.

Dunno...to be honest I think that's way more than Gerrard is worth. I'd say it's a good deal for Liverpool (if true)

Sky News and Eurosport New were talking about it.
I'm still debating in my head what I would want to happen. As much as I love Stevie G, money plus Duff and Parker sounds good.

Dunno...to be honest I think that's way more than Gerrard is worth. I'd say it's a good deal for Liverpool (if true)

There Chelsea website denies that either of them are going anywhere, to be honest I'm not fussed if they both leave. We don't need Parker and Duff is ALWAYS injured.

LOL its funny AND true. Plus you have a cool name.
