Benoit had been scheduled to appear on a WWE house show on Saturday. Sources tell us Benoit called to first say he would be taking a later flight, and then to say he would not be attending the house show due to a family illness. According to one source, Benoit said both his wife and son were throwing up blood and he needed to stay to take care of them.:'(

I hope it is a work, sick as it may be. But if it is, I will never watch them again.

I just don't know how seriously to take it after all the shit they've pulled, but fuck. I can't believe even WWE would do that. So I'm assuming that Chris and his family really are dead, and that sucks balls. But Hell, I would almost rather it just be some sick joke.

I was sitting here at my computer when I got a call informing me of the death of Chris Benoit and his family. Other than saying that my thoughts go out to to his remaining family, I don't know what to say. Chris had just called me on Thursday to check on me as he has every week since my surgery and now days later I find out that he's gone. He was my friend. This hurts! This fucking sucks!!!! Rest in peace my friend! Love you!

I hope this is a work, I really do, but it just doesn't make sense for it to be. He had no connection to Vince McMahon in storyline terms, so this being a serial killer angle doesn't make too much sense. Plus they've taken down all the Mr. McMahon stuff.

I hope this isn't how karma works. Mr. McMahon may have been an ass for playing with death, but Benoit doesn't deserve to be taken to prove a point. Nor does his family. R.I.P. Chris, Nancy and Daniel.

And it doesn't make sense for this to be an angle, Val. Now that I'm thinking a bit more clearly, I'm almost certain this isn't a work. It wouldn't make sense. The WWE are reporting Benoit was "found dead." You can't be "found dead" and then come back as a wrestler, all Undertaker jokes aside. If they've killed off Benoit, we'd never see him on WWE TV, again. The WWE haven't even fully come out and said Vince McMahon is dead, because it's something you can't really come back from. The WWE would be reporting Benoit in critical condition, or something, if it were a work.

The only way I could see him and his whole family dying is if there was food poisoning (besides foul play from a family member).

I don't think so. If Vince led the thing, I think people would appreciate the fact that his death was an angle and this is real. Yeah, it would kill off the Vince=Dead angle but this is a lot more important.

Last lot of years for wrestling as a whole a lot of big names have passed on. Reading that on wwe.com i just felt numb, i mean last night at the ppv i remember them saying benoit had to go home because of family issues or something along those lines...but christ whoever expected this?

This is just wrong. It shouldn't happen like this. Benoit was one of those guys that I expected to see sitting in the front row of RAW until he was in his nineties, and coming out on stage with a walking stick for special ceremonies.

As for other guys this must be really hurting, besides those who are known to be close to Benoit (Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero, William Regal and Dean Malenko), you can't overlook MVP, who was a huge fan of Benoit, and even trained under the guy for a while.

It's a weird coincidence that both Chris Benoit, and his best friend Eddie Guerrero, both passed away when they were scheduled to win their second world title in WWE.

Just a coincidence. I really wish this was a sick storyline in WWE, but it's not. I'm not looking forward to the fucktards trying to say this is a work (like they did with Eddie).

Maybe it's because extraordinary people make their mark immediately, and once they have delivered their service to this world, there is nothing else but to have them recalled back to the next.

But Dean Malenko said it best. At least right now, Benoit and Eddie are putting on a wrestling show for the ages, high up in the heavens.

I can't believe it... I woke up 25 minutes into Raw and switched it over to USA and saw "Remembering Chris Benoit" and immediately said WHAT?! NO WAY! I am at a loss... I just looked earlier and saw that WSB-TV, WXIA and WAGA in Atlanta are all reporting his death. R.I.P. Benoit and family. :'(

I'm not even sure what to say about this. Chris Benoit is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, and I've seen a good majority of his matches. Anyone who had read anything about him, or watched anything about him, knows what a great human being he was. The thought of this being a homicide is absolutely sickening. I'm absolutely in shock.

Remembering hearing that he had flown home for a family emergency, I thought that maybe something had happened with his family and he had retired. Then that message "In Memory of Chris Benoit - 1967 - 2007" appeared and it took a moment to figure out what it meant.
