The problem for the past couple of weeks though is that the crowd seems really tired and way more quiet for Rampage after being "fired up" on Dynamite, which ends up hurting Rampage
|
Is Rampage the more important show? I would have thought it was still Dynamite.
I think stretching your content out is just going to have negative effects any way you cut it. There’s only so much emphasis you can place on different things. Interest is a finite resource. Even if you make Rampage more effective, I think that’s going to take away from Dynamite, because it’s just so much content. |
I don’t think Dark or Elevation help either. Or Rhodes to the Top, for that matter. Even auxiliary content in different genres is just demanding too much of even a loyal audience.
I don’t know if they HAD to do Rampage. You heard it when the TV deal was upgraded. TNT was getting more content on the cheap. But it feels way too ambitious to me. Focus on doing one show that is your priority content. Once a week. Be firm. Even if you get paid less for it, there’s just more chance for overall growth. Especially in a marketplace that is ALREADY flooded with content. So many people still watch WWE. That’s just more hours a week a fan has to devote. But I guess they may not have had a choice, which is why I think it was important to be way hotter earlier — because then you have more leverage in those sorts of negotiations. It’s kind of like where Bischoff found himself with WCW. But because Warner owned the promotion, they just had to do it. At least Khan could have had the advantage of owning AEW and being like “No, seriously guys. This is a bad idea. Here are historical examples. Let’s build this show first and if there is ever proper timing for a second show, we can do it then.” |

And yeah I agree tbh... too much content could lead to burn out and/or Dynamite being watered down... It's not as bad as having 3 hours of Raw all at once, but same idea on a smaller scale imo... |

I see the crowd go ape shit on Dark for Thunder Rosa but I can barely hear them. |
AEW live shows usually sound terrible too.
Before improving any other production aspect they really need to work on that. |
I’ll take the live feed audio over their taped shows any day of the week.

At least they’re not making the ridiculous directorial cuts WWE makes. It’s a hilarious image to imagine Kevin Dunn actually calling the cuts between two cameras as Drew McIntyre swings a chair down on Shanky or whatever. I want to see that footage so bad. |
Their sound definitely sucks. Just like WCW's sound sucked too. Definitely don't have the audio ear of Lock Jaw - Reporter Extraordinare, but it is very noticeable. Music never loud enough.

I really like AEW, by far the best wrestling on TV!

Does everyone here watch all three hours of Raw. Who the fuck would do that? And why is it cool to shit on WWE but not AEW? It’s only when it’s AEW that people go up in arms about it. WWE has been shit for years and years and it’s fine to tear them apart for it. Wrestling is bad, which is why people don’t watch. Which is why wrestling fans are frustrated at it. Not that hard to get. This whole “Don’t say anything then, wah!” mentality is all really new. |
No it's not unwatchable for me especially since they started touring again. I look forward to the shows and at least half the time I watch them (pretty much every week) I really enjoy it. Sometimes it's not "the best show they've ever done" but even that kind of show feels a lot more entertaining than any other product out there.
Dynamite is awesome! |
Also the reason the Rampage rating was a little low was cause all us AEW dudes were out Friday night gettin our DICKS SUCKED ON. We had a build up after Arthur Ashe and brother let me tell you that went right on upstate to Rochester and we all got hard for Brodie Lee and we could only stand it but another day before we had let it out and we all have DVR so we set that up from start to finish and went out and got OUR DICKS SUCKED ON.
|
Everyone knows AEW fans are the sort of people who think the person giving actually blows in a blowjob.
|
Spoken like a man who has never gotten a real blowjob!
|
Yeah that doesn’t sound so bad, Noid.

The guy who doesn’t watch the shows and tells you you’re allowed to like whatever you want is also telling you the show you like is unwatchable and making up claims that people get up in arms when you don’t like AEW, even tho he’s been told countless times everybody criticizes them and it’s not an echo chamber. But facts be dammed for noid trump

Where does this idea that you can’t judge highlights, clips or how something sounds come from? That’s just plain stupid. |

I think there’s definitely some “grading on a curve” when it comes to AEW where it gets directly compared to WWE, and for this audience they get it right more often than WWE. Is it stuff that would bring in this (largely theoretical) casual audience? Probably not.

They did it! They managed to climb past the overnights and managed to get an estimate of over half-a-million people!
502k for Rampage. It beat Rugrats Shorts on Nickelodeon by about 9k people. There is a show called “Proof is Out There” on the History Channel that did 676k and 720k in the same slots. Ancient Aliens did 580k at midnight. |
Forget baseball and football. The true competition are alien documentaries.

Congrats bro

Lol, conversation about this rating has killed AEW discussion in lots of different places. People are running out of excuses.

This is going to be a bleak place when the ratings from Friday’s “head to head” come in. Regardless of who “wins” it’ll be 3 days of dissecting how important/unimportant, reliable/flawed the ratings system is with whichever side “wins” going on about it.
|
We already know though don't we?
lolololol. Just gonna continue to watch what I enjoy and doesn't simulate having a seizure every time a punch is thrown. |
Ratings can be fun discussion but honestly if you enjoy the product who gives a shit how many other people watch? It’s so meaningless at the end of the day for fans.
