:D Red Sox beat the Yanks. Lester gets his 1st ever Opening Day win.

Color me shocked that CC didn't have his best stuff on opening day...oh wait. Could be a tough time until Yankees get the regulars back.

Meanwhile, in things that make me happy:

I remember Chip Caray when he'd call Sammy Sosa's home runs using that exact phrase.

When Sosa hit #62 in '98 he was all like:

"SWUNG ON, BELTED! MOVE OVER BIG MAC, YOU'VE GOT COMPANY!"

I like Chip. He's my favorite.

Been getting a flurry of emails from the Cubs about how "limited" seats are still available for their home opener. Last time they didn't sell out an opener was 1997.

Joe Maddon Working On Creating Cool New Infield Position

SPORTS NEWS IN BRIEF • Sports • Mlb Baseball • ISSUE 48•16 • Apr 17, 2012

ST. PETERSBURG, FL—Saying he finds the

defensive positioning that has been standard

in baseball for well over 100 years

"staid" and "primitive," Rays manager Joe

Maddon revealed Monday he is deep in the

process of creating an exciting new infield

position for his team. "It's going to be

called 'thwartstop,'" said Maddon, who has

been working on the position off and on since

abandoning efforts to reimagine the left fielder

role in the late 1990s. "I haven't worked out all

the kinks, but basically you use one less

outfielder, and the thwartstop plays in a different part of the infield for each batter, standing in

the exact spot spray charts show the batter is most likely to hit the ball." He later showed

reporters a special prototype thwartstop glove he has been sewing and divulged that he

offered Evan Longoria $500 to star in a instructional video series about the new position that

Maddon is self-producing.

Maybe baseball will show up in Tampa after the O's leave

Keith 04-03-2013 12:03 AM

One game.

Fucking McGee. It's not like the O's dominated.

It was all fine until the 7th.

Chill.

Droford 04-03-2013 12:07 AM

The O's scored 16 runs in 9 games at Tampa last year..they scored 7 today against the cy young winner and one of the better relief pitchers in baseball (who gave up 5 runs, only allowed 12 total last year)

Keith 04-03-2013 12:09 AM

NO. They scored two off Price.

Don't bump him into McGee's first-game madness.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-03-2013 12:09 AM

Does this mean all of Droford's Stats are lies? Or did he just not watch the game or check the box score?

Also Droford, make me an offer for Bradley Jr.

The O's scored 7 runs combined: 2 off Price and 5 off McGee. Yes, they scored 7 runs, but, you know.

2 off Price. And McGee had a bad day. The way he put it you'd think Price gave up 5 and got the Loss, while McGee gave up 2 or something.

Price left after 6 innings with the lead but got a no-decision.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-03-2013 12:22 AM

You don't want Jason Hammel? :o

Droford 04-03-2013 12:25 AM

My only complaint from today's game was that Hammel looked good but was suddenly gassed after only like 60 pitches in the 6th whereas price threw about 100 in 6. Hammel had two near no hitters last year so I know he can go deep into games, I'm chalking it up to first start out of St.

Keith 04-03-2013 12:27 AM

Congratulations, Dro. The O's won their first game.

So did the Astros.

Cheers.
