San Andreas- 7/10

Lots of destructive action, no real slow moments during the movie, and a great cast.

Far From the Madding Crowd - 4.5 out of 5 needs more explosions, at least some sheep died violently and there was some bare knuckle fighting.

Tough one to grade. The more I was watching, the more I thought this was 2 hour 20 minute episode of The Blacklist. Love James Spader, but in the end, I think he was mis-cast for the role of Ultron. Just heard too much Red Reddington the whole time.

I think he was perfect. I've never seen the Blacklist though. He was probably one of the only actors who could pull that voice over work off without it seeming silly like Bane.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-31-2015 11:18 PM

I agree with the rating though. Best part of the movie was that the seats were leather and reclined. Had worked a full shift at work before and it was hot as hell outside.

Tomorrowland-9/10

great cast with a wonderful storyline that really made you think. Highly recommend this movie to everyone

Aloha - 6/10 - After hearing but negative reviews and how terrible it was (despite having a pretty well-known cast), I didn't expect much, but it was a solid movie....I guess native Hawaiians were pissed that Emma Stone was playing a character that was 1/4 Hawaiian....didn't effect my enjoyment of the movie at all as I would do unmentionable things to Emma's body, so if you are from Hawaii and get butt-hurt easily, don't watch this movie

El Vaquero de Infierno 06-01-2015 02:56 PM

San Andreas 7/10 (6.5/10, but I gave an extra .5 for Alexandra Daddario... I can see why people are fapping over her)

Avengers gets a pass

Mad Max: Fury Road gets a pass.fail. The constant desert scene makes me anxious. And I don't want to live in that universe at all. Not as a civilian. Not as a major character. Nothing. I would hate always being on edge.

Tomorrowland has an amazing score and cool visuals but boy, that ending would be really difficult to follow if I was less than 14 years old. I thought this was made for kids. Maybe it's not. pass.fail

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-03-2015 10:24 PM

You seem to be always on edge anyways.

Mad Max: Subtle Feminist Agenda - 9/10

Heisenberg 06-04-2015 03:21 PM

Sex Ed w/ Haley Joel Osment playing the role of teacher who teaches Sex Ed to detention students and tries to get a grip on life and get his piss on.

8/10

It's on Netflix, no explosions or fancy graphics, just a man trying to teach these keeds and get his bone on with one of his student's older sister.

San Andreas - 6/10

Hit pretty much every "disaster movie" note, which is fine for what it is. Enjoyable. Gonna go tug it over Daddario too brb

Raven Reaper 06-10-2015 07:32 AM

Insidious Chapter 3: 7/10. Slightly better than the Chapter 2.. But a prequel ain't that bad.. I wish it would end here. Otherwise, having another Chapter might be a downer.

Jurassic World 10/10... The Mesosaurus made Jaws look like a goddamn goldfish tank watching boring. As for the Raptors having made their peace with Starlord and fighting other dinos really made me feel like a 90's kid again... Also, the familiar theme from the 1st movie was totally respectful.. They even had references to the old first park esp. the familiar items used in the 1st movie from Hammond which is now in ruins!

A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence (2014) - 10/10

Freaking sweet... feels like nothing will beat this as my favorite movie of the year.

Basically a bunch of short "absurd" vignettes. Very bleak and v funny as heck to me.

From Roy Andersson. Highly recommend all of his "work." <3333333 him

Had some tears in my eye when the original theme first hit loudly. Anybody who voted T2 theme over Jurassic Park theme doesn't know shit.

Probably 8/10 too. Pretty packed theater and it was like an 11pm showing.

Nicky Fives 06-14-2015 08:08 PM

Spy - 7/10 - Not as good as The Heat, but still pretty good....Jason Statham is amazingly funny....

GD 06-14-2015 09:45 PM

Beginners - 7/10

mitch_h 06-14-2015 11:58 PM

It Follows - I had heard good things but this was better than I thought. It's about this girl who fucks this guy and is informed that this ghost thing will follow her and kill her if it gets close enough and the only way to get rid of it is to fuck someone else. The concept sounds dumb on paper but it was well executed. Cool Detroit setting and the characters felt "real". The idea of a slow moving unrelenting creature following you around at all times is very unsettling to me, reminded me of this Jehovah witness kid named Adam that always tried to hang out with me. 8/10

The Trial - Orson Welles adaptation of the Franz Kafka story. Very cool cinematography/set design, but it felt a bit muddled and I didn't really like Anthony Perkins as Joseph K. 7/10

Labor Day - This movie is fucked, a total train-wreck that I can't believe was made in the year 2013. It's about an escaped convict (Josh Brolin) who kidnaps a sweaty housewife (Kate Winslet) and her kid (some kid) and they slowly grow to love him. I'll give y'all the low-down. SPOILERS SPOILERS SPIOLERS SRELIOPS

-The main kid is so dull and lame, he gives his mother a husband coupon book for her birthday, where he does husbandly things, he can't fuck her though, but knows that is what she needs.

- When Josh Brolin is not grabbing Kate Wislet by her mouth and hiding behind a door-frame, he is changing the oil on her car, waxing the floor, playing guitar, changing the furnace filter, making delicious food and teaching the neighbourhood kid with Cerebral Palsy how to play baseball.

- Bizarre and sensual pie making scene.

- After like three days Brolin has assumed the role of doting husband and stern but supportive father.

- Kid with cerebral palsy is tactlessly used for suspense. Brolin's mugshot appears on TV screen as his mother comes to pick him up, he tries forcing out Brolin's name but is slapped across the face by his impatient mother.

- It is decided that they will all flee for Canada, Brolin and Winslet make the kid go to the library to pick up a book on Newfoundland so they can learn about Canada and because they want to fuck.

- Kid has strong sexual urges and visions at night of little blonde classmate and women's eyes from Glamour magazine.

- We find out that Brolin went to jail for pushing his wife into a radiator because she was a slut, plus he was so busy killing his wife that he forgot about his baby in the tub, he's not such a bad guy after all.

- Kate Winslet has a severe nervous condition after having four miscarriages but her love for Brolin is beautiful and true and not because she is a broken down, lonely woman.

- Neighbour finds out about Brolin and he goes to jail. The movie jumps forward in time and the kid has grown into dull and lame Toby Maguire, he now owns a bakery and makes pies.

- Brolin is let out of jail and meets up with Winslet and they walk away hand in hand.

Labor Day def seemed really bizarre. They played the trailer before some movie I saw and most of the theater started laughing and stuff... seemed like a "joke" but was not I guess...

Disturbed316 06-15-2015 03:12 AM

Gone Girl - 7/10 - A pretty interesting story with a shit ending

Birdman - 9/10 - Not something I'd usually go for but ended up really enjoying it. The camera work was incredible

It Follows - 8/10

I didn't find it that scary. Creepy, yes, scary, no.

Saying that though, I did like the idea behind it, along with the cinematography and it did have a classic/80's horror movie feel to it, which I also liked. Also, I really enjoyed the soundtrack.

If a sequel does happen, I'd be up for seeing it, even though personally I'm not a big fan of horror movies, but if the sequel is about the origin of "It", as some people have mentioned, then I'd be interested.

The Guest - 7/10

Nothing really stood out about the movie apart from the soundtrack, which just like It Follows, I enjoyed. The film did have a bit of an 80's feel to it and it was a bit absurd at certain moments, which did give me and my friends a bit of a laugh.

Cool King 06-18-2015 04:10 PM

Both movies did contain Maika Monroe though, who, before watching It Follows, I had never heard of.

Now though, I guess you can call me a fan. :naughty:

Jurassic World : 4.4/10

Whatever

I saw Jurassic World the other day. I rate that day 8/10. I'll give the movie 7/10

Inside Out

9/10

Right behind all the Toy Story movies as the best Pixar flim.

Delivered on the hype and then some

ClockShot 06-25-2015 09:26 PM

Equilibrium - 4/5

I wonder who was doing Gun Fu first? Christian Bale in this, or Tres Iques in Trinity Blood.

Anyway, Angus MacFayden put on some weight over the years with how he looks now in Turn. Damn.

Good flick, regardless.

Nicky Fives 06-28-2015 05:34 PM

Ted 2: 8/10 - Not as good as the first, but I didn't expect it to be, still worth my money.... loads of laughs and lots of great jokes that only I laughed at in the theater, most notably Patrick Warburton dressed as The Tick at Comic-Con....

Lock Jaw 06-28-2015 07:00 PM

Jurassic World 9/10

Pretty sweet...

cardsharkrob 06-29-2015 08:43 PM

Ted 2-7.5/10 i agree not as great as the first but I have to say I loved all the surprise cameos in the movie, loved Patrick Warburton dressed as the Tick.

My favorite moment is the scene with Liam Neeson.

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-29-2015 09:11 PM

Ted 2: 7/10-Not as good as the last one. Not enough of the idiot manager from the first one who was the star of the last movie to me.

Inside Out: 8/10. Pretty good. The short "Lava" blew it away though.

That's generous. Movie sucked ass. It felt like:

"Let's make another Jurassic Park movie, full of a bunch of cool CGI shit since the tech has come a lomg way since 93! What? Plot? Likable characters? Fuck that shit, DINOSAURS!"

Movie was great.

Terminator Genisys - 7/10

Better than T3 and Salvation, but doesn't touch T2.

Emilia Clarke didn't really convince as Sarah Connor; she looked too "soft" and girly compared to how Linda Hamilton appears in T2 (ready for a fight).
