lol

The Man with the Iron Fists 2 - 0/5

First one was enough. And even that wasn't good.

I didn't do Imax, I did crappy theater, cost me $13.00 for two tickets http://board.ateaseweb.com//public/s...fault/rock.gif

Two Jamaican guys talked throughout the entire film.

Spoiler filled thoughts and observations.

Jason Statham is the vengeful evil brother sequel bad guy, see Jeremy Irons in Die Hard: With A Vengeance for more info.

I feel like this franchise has a lot in common with professional wrestling: male soap opera, inoffensive violence, completely ridiculous, The Rock.

Speaking of the Rock, I was disappointed that his role was reduced to a glorified cameo, they make the best of him though, he does a sweet Rock bottom through a table and shatters his cast by flexing his arm.

I really liked Vin Diesel in this one, cinema needs more melancholic, unintelligible action heroes who are obsessed with family. He even pulled me into the Michelle Rodriguez still having amnesia because a car exploded beside her storyline.

That action scene where they are rescuing the hacker girl from the bus is one of the series best, the stuff with Paul Walker on the bus was very suspenseful.

Tons of barely dressed hot girls shaking their asses in the United Arab Emirates.

I like how the characters in the movie can do anything, Vin Diesel is a Corona drinking everyman mechanic who can infiltrate an exclusive party thrown by a billionaire like he's James Bond and he can fight anyone while wielding a wrench like it's a Katana.

Like its characters, the movie can do anything and everything. It's a heist movie melodrama action blockbuster kung fu spy movie urban warfare thriller with cars.

The car that's in the penthouse of that billionaire got a pretty big pop from the audience I saw this with.

The ending was sentimental but touching, I liked it. They made it as uplifting as possible, Paul Walker's character Brian happily accepts domesticity, Vin of course values family more than anything so while he verbally expresses his happiness and reverence for Brian, his eyes say "I'll miss you buddy"

RoXer 04-23-2015 10:41 PM

mitch_h, I know you're not a big film buff or anything but there was some heavy symbolism at the end that I think you may have missed. Would you like me to explain it to you?

RoXer 04-23-2015 10:44 PM

If you're living in a vacuum or like 30 years from now and you have no idea who Paul Walker is or how he died, the ending must seem VERY weird.

That would help me greatly. I noticed the last shot of the film, before it said "For Paul Walker" the camera panned up to the sky, or to the heavens if you will, did this have some sort of significance?

Also, Fast and Furious 8 2017 BABY!

Hot Fuzz 10/10

Loved every minute of it. Liked even more than Shun of The Dead. Need to see World's End.

RoXer 04-25-2015 03:53 PM

See, he took the exit because he can't drive anymore. Not because there's anything mechanically wrong with his car, no. It's because he's dead.

Furious 7 - 10/10

And that's coming from someone who's not seen any of the prior 6 movies, or has any inkling of interest in "car culture" whatsoever beyond acknowledging that my Chevy HHR has 4 wheels and can get me from home to work.

The movie is so ridiculous and absurd and hits every action movie note and I loved it. Everybody in the movie is awesome. And c'mon, Tony Jaa.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-01-2015 05:52 PM

Child 44 6/10

I like Tom Hardy, but I thought the film was a bit blah.

mitch_h 05-02-2015 11:14 PM

The Avengers: Age of Ultron - I didn't really like this that much. Inferior to the first Avengers film in every way except in spectacle, I guess. It was overstuffed and sacrificed character and pacing for exposition and I didn't particularly care for any of the new characters, but I guess I could see how fans of comics would. It was never boring though, and there were some good scenes and I liked that saving civilians was a major focus... felt like a jab at Man of Steel.

6/10

ClockShot 05-05-2015 04:06 PM

Ex Machina - 4.5/5

Whoa.

road doggy dogg 05-05-2015 11:14 PM

Avengers: Age of Ultron - 8/10. Liked it. Mobile post see other comments I've made elsewhere zzz

Meth Head - 7/10

one of those films that isn't always easy to watch but you must.

it is a very gritty and at times blunt look at addiction to crystal meth.

Lukas Haas is amazing in this as the lead character Kyle Peoples.

Lukas puts it all into the role. He actually makes you feel sympathetic to him.

At the end as he is all alone and weak you truly feel sorry for the guy.

Necar Zadegan, Blake Berris and many of the supporting actors are fantastic in their roles.

Jane Clark is an amazing director.

The Drop 7.5/10

Tom Hardy always seems to bring the good these days.

Rammsteinmad 05-11-2015 06:41 AM

Watching Gravity at the moment. Holy fuck this film is boring.

The Condor 05-15-2015 01:04 AM

Blue Velvet: 7.4/10

There were times during this film that I wanted to simply shut it off, others that enraptured me, and cinematic decisions that were purely questionable and seemingly irrelevant to the story and plot of the film. But it was pretty good for whatever it was trying to be. Essentially, it was a sexual and violent prototype of the films that Wes Anderson has perfected over the course of the past 15 years.

Mad Max: Fury Road... 0.0/10.. Dull dialogue but the villains death race cars have more personality... Michael Bay's wetdream of explosions and car chases. I still fail to see the appeal of Mad Max's character as a whole..

Ex Machina - 8/10

Really enjoyed it. The guy who played Nathan was really good... cool guy

Yes, I'm fucking serious.. Action scenes had more personality than the fucking acting dialogue of the characters.. Story is minimal to null and void of depth.. It's all Death Race/Fast And Furious bullshit all over again despite Mad Max was Fast/Furious of the 80s.

And, I never understand the appeal of the franchise or the character as a whole.

10/10... Even better is that I saw this in a complete empty seat theater. All by myself.. It just increased my phobia of being alone walking home after dark.

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-18-2015 02:57 PM

Mad Max: Fury Road 7.5/10

Very loud and a tad bonkers.

Pitch Perfect 2 - 7/10 - got dragged to the movies by the g/f, was not terrible and I chuckled a few times.... plus staring at Anna Kendrick for almost 2 hours made the movie bearable

Mad Max: Fury Road - 9/10

I may even bump this to a 10. It was a fantastic movie. Crazy action scenes, very chaotic, loud, ridiculous, absurd. Loved it. The dude wailing on the guitars intermittently throughout the car chases was just icing on the cake. Supposedly lots of "feminist stuff" in it as well, but I don't really concern myself with that. Charlize Theron was a BAMF all throughout, however.

Five Broken Cameras (2011) - 10/10
A Palestinian uses five video cameras (that were all shot at / destroyed) to document his village's nonviolent protests against Israel illegally taking over huge parts of their land, and the Israeli human garbage army's responses... murdering his friends, purposefully breaking their bones, arresting him and others, etc. Really "powerful" and depressing. Was nominated for "Best Documentary" Academy Award.

Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief (2015) - 6/10
Was alright I guess... Learned some stuff...

Power and Terror: Noam Chomsky in Our Times (2002) - 6/10
The content was interesting (basically just straight clips of Chomsky's talks) but seemed lazily put-together as a "documentary."

Avengers 2: Age of Ultron - 3/5

Tough one to grade. The more I was watching, the more I thought this was 2 hour 20 minute episode of The Blacklist. Love James Spader, but in the end, I think he was mis-cast for the role of Ultron. Just heard too much Red Reddington the whole time.

Mad Max: Fury Road - 4.5/5

Awesome flick. Wanted so much more. Everybody played their part perfectly. Shaved half a point because I think Tom Hardy should have said a little bit more than just 100 words give or take over the course of the whole movie.

My thoughts exactly. The guitar dude was ridiculous. I don't think I've ever even seen the original Mad Max flicks or if I did it was so long ago I barely remember them, and I didn't need to remember them to enjoy the shit out of this one.

Draft Day - 3/5

Add another good one to the Kevin Costner sport films collection.

The Condor 05-28-2015 11:40 PM

Back to the Future: 6.1/10

Finally got around to it. It was okayish, but I still don't "get it."

Rammsteinmad 05-30-2015 06:58 PM

Just finished watching Transformers: Age of Extinction. It was alright. My thought throughout most of the film were that it wasn't nearly as bad as people made it out to be... but around to two hour mark it really started to drag. Felt like the film was just repeating itself over and over.

Overall, I'd probably give it a 3/5.

Lock Jaw 05-30-2015 07:10 PM

Mad Max: Fury Road - 9/10

Pretty "cool" how they got away with making the movie like 97% chase scene, but still managed to get in some nice "character moments" and stuff.... Also, good action. Saw it in 3D and also didn't mind the 3D.... first time in a long time where I didn't find the 3D distracting....

Black Widow 05-30-2015 11:07 PM

Pitch Perfect 2 - 7/10

1st one was a little better but this was passable.
