While I enjoyed the ending of Wrestlemania XX, I didn't digest the "Benoit's 15-year odyssey" line by Ross since he had already won the same belt in its previous incarnation.

I was such a mark back then, I remember thinking Benoit left WCW because he was scared of Nash and the nWo 2000.

Kinda funny watching it though, seeing the "emotion" in Benoit when he wins the title, when even he is thinking "fuck this I'm out of here".

Think I'll be asked to change my shirt if I wear my Hulkamania one to Raw in a few weeks?

Maybe if your in front row or are visible enough on tv. Same if you were to bring a pro-Hogan sign.

Hell, WWE even has to acknowledge them and give them free promotion when talking about their own history a lot. I feel like there's some way where their territory system could actually work to build a national product even in this day and age. I'm just not sure how. Also, they'd probably have to ignore the last few decades completely...

I've wanted to see the NWA do this for ages. There actually seems to be somewhat of a stir around alternative products (although they do seem to have trouble finding homes), and the NWA could easily be at the forefront of that.

I often wonder as to who they could make their "travelling champion." Matt Morgan would have been good when he first left TNA. Shelton Benjamin often pops into my mind. I think they need someone with a little bit of name recognition that could hold the belt for a while and not get stale.

For what it's worth, Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live today that Vince McMahon is apparently "freaking out" about the decline in WWE TV ratings, something that usually happens every year around this time. WWE usually makes some kind of big change when Vince is "freaking out" about the ratings.
This week's RAW episode not getting the usual post-ppv bump and hitting a new low ended up being the WWE's breaking point for the problem.

Before Sting suffered an injury in his match against Seth Rollins at the Night of Champions event on Sunday, the plan was for him to face Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 32. As of this writing, there is no indication yet on Sting's future as an in-ring competitor. Normally when someone over the age of 50 steps into a WWE ring and gets injured, the company is against the idea of bringing them back.

Three names in mind for possible opponents for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 include Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman or John Cena. From a booking standpoint, Rollins is the top heel of the company and it would make a lot more sense to put this match togeher. As for Cena, officials feel that a match between the two would be good because it's never been done on a big stage since Cena established himself as the top star of the company.
Quote:

Four names are being considered as possible opponents for Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32. Those names are Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, The Rock and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Reigns is said to be a viable option because the two have history, however WWE may also be grooming Reigns for the title picture around that time. As for Rollins, the idea would be for the match against Lesnar to be for the WWE Championship, but that would only take place if Rollins still has the title around that time. WWE had plans for The Rock to face Lesnar back in 2014, however those plans were scrapped after The Rock suffered injuries in his match at WrestleMania 29. As for Austin, he has ruled out the match multiple times after it was teased on his WWE Network special with Paul Heyman, but his name continues to still be brought up.

I used to love the idea of Carlito being a constant thorn in Cena's side. Not his main event rival or anything (although he could eventually get there), but as someone just waiting for Cena to slip on a banana peel. Loved it when he crashed that Cena promo heading into TLC 2009.

Hearing that the NWA was trying to get on Spike is interesting. I'd love to Spike get back into the wrestling game. TNA had a good platform there that they squandered. It's great though that you ask, because the Dusty Rhodes tag tournament taking place in NXT is something he would really be proud of because of all the platforms it gives to talent, including independent talent that came in for a shot to win the Dusty Rhodes tag tournament. It would have been tacky — would have been tacky, and it wouldn’t have been genuine. Many years ago, I used to watch RAW with my dad, and we watched Nitro, and we watched the pay-per-views. Many years ago, there was a wrestler who passed away, and his name was used pretty regularly after that on programming. People were using it to try draw the adulation of fans. Everyone was saying, “Oh, well such and such who passed away would have loved this.” And (my father) told me, and this is something very few people know, “When I go don’t ever let anybody say that about me. I left my body of work on the table already and it doesn’t need to be expanded.” And I never forgot that. So there was never any question on who was coming back.

Apparently there was a Wrestler’s Court thing that happened on 9/19 before the TV tapings. WWE used to do it where somebody would be accused of stuff and put on a trial, where if they were guilty, maybe they had to buy beer for everyone or something like that. It was for ref Gino Colucci, and the charges were really minor stuff. B.J. Whitmer was the judge and I believe Elgin served as the defense attorney and Colucci ended up cleared of anything. However, CEO Joe Koff found out about it and issued a very strong statement to never do it again, particularly before a taping feeling that the wrestlers at that point should be concentrating on their performances.

I’m not trying to create controversy or be a pain in WWE’s neck – but the recent treatment of this guy on TV is downright baffling to me. Besides, as long as I said it, and it will be reported on (which I’m pretty sure it will be) you might as well read it here first. I know Steve Austin has been an enthusiastic Cesaro supporter. I was just thinking, if they don't pay The Mountain from Game of Thrones a shit ton of money to have a match against Brawn Strongman at Wrestlemania at some point, what is the point of having Brawn on the roster?

Mr. Nerfect 09-26-2015 04:34 PM

The Undertaker and Kane are apparently headlining WWE's Mexican tour against Luke Harper and Braun Strowman, with Strowman allegedly being a front-runner to face Taker at Mania 32.

Damian Rey 09-26-2015 04:45 PM

That sounds really fucking boring. Stroman is perfect in his current role. They need not to expand on it. At least not so soon on such a high platform.

I'd rather they pump up the crowd in print money on a Cena/Taker retirement match.

I'm guessing that the vast majority of the work will be handled by Kane and Harper.

That said, I like the idea in that Taker works with Harper and be like "can I face this guy at Mania, instead?" I feel like Taker would have the pull to make it happen, should he want to.

Mr. Nerfect 09-26-2015 06:45 PM

Strowman obviously needs to work to get better, but I also feel like he needs to be kept away from being overexposed in matches. House shows are fine for him, because not as many people will see what he can do. On television, I'd rather see him be the tank on the outside, helping out the more active evil minds in Wyatt & Harper.

Plus, if Strowman is kept out of the ring, it can build intrigue as to just what the guy can do, so if it comes time to have him turn on The Family, he can get quite a pop going out on his own. It's building the potential energy until you can turn it into kinetic.

I've seen it mentioned around the place that Taker is apparently a big supporter of Harper's, and was interested in working with him. To be honest, Taker vs. Harper at WrestleMania would actually intrigue me. It also plays off the story from WrestleMania last year between Wyatt and Taker. Put Strowman in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and maybe even have him win that.

Undertaker vs. John Cena is a bigger match, however, and I'd be all for that. Part of me is thinking that if it happens, they should probably make it for the title. Cena wins the title from Rollins at some point, Taker then wins the Rumble and heads into a final date of destiny against Cena -- who possibly turns heel to retain the belt.

Mr. Nerfect 09-26-2015 06:51 PM

You'd think that the WWE would have to be interested in signing pretty much all of The Bullet Club right now. If they ever did come in, I'd like them to turn against Finn Balor in a main event title match against John Cena. The Young Bucks could strip off their Bullet Club t-shirts and reveal a new John Cena design, in bright colors, with "Hustle, Loyalty and Respect John Cena" written on the front. The Cena hand-signal on the back would be replaced with the Kliq hand-gesture.

Mr. Nerfect 09-26-2015 06:55 PM

I'm still not sold on Strowman, by the way. He just doesn't seem...menacing. He comes off as scarier in his Google image results.

http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...20150825015351

In my opinion, he should be a modern powerhouse, perfectly eloquent (providing he can talk), highly intense, inspired by bigger ass-kickers from the past -- probably even WCW-associated guys, like Goldberg and Kevin Nash.

Mr. Nerfect 09-26-2015 06:59 PM

I'm kind of wanting Eric Bischoff back on a TV screen. Not with any sort of backstage power, mind you, but I feel that his on-screen presence would just help things for some reason.

I'd like to see him appointed by the USA Network as the man to take over SmackDown and ready it for the big transition in 2016. He takes a whole bunch of guys and makes them "SmackDown exclusive." Guys like Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro, Charlotte (maybe even dropping the Divas Title in the garbage and declaring herself the new Women's Champion), Emma, Big Show and even Fandango, denouncing the gimmick.

Part of me wouldn't mind seeing a WCW brand returning, but it feels labored and kind of hokey at this point; but something to shake things up like Eric Bischoff getting SmackDown would be kind of interesting and could lead to some exciting format changes for the show.

Mr. Nerfect 09-26-2015 07:05 PM

Another wacky idea I had: After losing the Steel Cage US Title match to John Cena in Madison Square Garden, imagine if The Authority stripped Seth Rollins of the WWE World Title. You could have Kane be the one to do it, but even Triple H or Stephanie McMahon would make sense. Their reason being that the WWE Champion is meant to be the highest ranked wrestler in the world, but Rollins has not lost three straight times to John Cena, clearly making the US Title the #1 goal in WWE.

Sure, stripping the title off a guy that's perfectly healthy seems like a counter-productive move, but it might move fan sympathy behind Rollins more than anything else they are doing with him has been. Plus, he's pretty much heatless as a heel right now. Michael Cole, Byron Saxton and the face disposition announcers could get behind the idea of Rollins never actually losing the title -- with JBL being the guy who takes The Authority's "He had his chance and he kept losing" stance.

The Authority would go to hand John Cena the title belt, but he doesn't want to be handed anything (although Cena accepting it would be a huge dick move and a starting point to Rollins challenging Cena for the title at WrestleMania). The title would be held up (without the word "abeyance" thrown around so much), and Hell in a Cell sees Lesnar vs. Taker, a US Title match, Kane vs. Rollins and The Wyatt Family vs. The Shield & Randy Orton as the major attractions -- a pretty stacked card really. Maybe you can bring back the Deadly Games tournament for Survivor Series to crown the new champion? Or have tournament semi-finals and finals, with Triple H and Seth Rollins having a high-profile match of their own.

Mr. Nerfect 09-26-2015 07:09 PM

Alternatively, if they go with Rollins vs. Kane for the World Title, I think this would be a good place for Sheamus to cash-in. Doing it mid-match seems to be the en vogue thing to do, so Sheamus could come out as Kane looks like he's about to win, and put The Demon down with a Brogue Kick. He hands over the briefcase as the announcement is made. Kane then sits up. Sheamus beats on Kane some more, but ends up getting Chokeslammed, but then Rollins low blows Kane (it now being legal due to Triple Threat rules), and Rollins finishes off Kane to keep the title.

Unless we do want to save Sheamus' cash-in for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Disturbed316 09-26-2015 07:35 PM

He looks like a jacked up Eugene.

Damian Rey 09-26-2015 07:50 PM

I'd rather the Authority anoint Reigns as the man, screwing Rollins out of the belt at the Rumble to build to a Lesnar Reigns rematch after Lesnar rips through the Rumble.

Meanwhile, Rollins challenges Hunter, Cena goes against Taker, Wyatt gets Sting if the Stinger can go, and you've got four main event level matches.

If he's healthy, a chasing Daniel Bryan trying to reclaim the Intercontinental title from heel douche bag Owens is a good midcard match.

I'm pretty sure Foley is done, but how awesome would a New Day v Rock n Sock Connection tag title match be?

Wish so much that Smackdown would become WCW International
And bring back the WCW International Heavyweight Championship as the main title for the brand.v

Has anyone been watching Xavier Wood's UpUpDownDown show? It's pretty awesome and fun to watch 'em all kicking back and having fun out-of-character. Sandow is hilarious with his raps, and the Street Fighter tournament which ended with one of the Usos getting pelted with a tennis ball was brilliant.

Summerslam set to stay in New York till at least 2017.

Quote:

After a successful weekend of wrestling in Brooklyn earlier this year, WWE will be bringing SummerSlam back to the Barclays Center in both 2016 and 2017, as first reported by the New York Daily News.

The WWE agreed with both Barclays Center and NYC & Company to not only host SummerSlam, but also NXT Takeover and Monday Night RAW — much like earlier this year. The schedule for next year reads as follows:

Saturday, August 20 – NXT Takeover
Sunday, August 21 – WWE SummerSlam
Monday, August 22 – Monday Night Raw
Las Vegas and Los Angeles both made bids to host the event next year before the WWE decided on staying in New York.

This Monday’s episode of WWE RAW recorded 3.333 million viewers. This number is down from last week’s 3.349 million viewers. The official numbers are listed below according to hour.

RAW Hour 1: 3.476 million viewers
RAW Hour 2: 3.326 million viewers
RAW Hour 3: 3.188 million viewers
New record low for the 3 Hour era. In terms of yearly numbers, 700k less viewers compared to same week last year.

Quote:

In what seems to be a weekly pattern this fall, the September 28, 2015 episode of Raw set another record low, drawing 3.32 million viewers last night. With the exception of a Christmas Eve show in 2012, it was the lowest viewership for an episode of the show since 1997.
Quote:

Correspondents at last night's RAW event sent word that WWE did not show the matches to the live audience on the big titantron screen during the show, but instead displayed a gigantic RAW logo.

This could have been the reason why the crowd was noticeably dead at last night's show because very few fans could see the matches and/or what was going on most of the time. A majority of the fans were standing up, which made visibility even worse, especially if you were seated behind fans with signs.
Been a recent trend the past couple of weeks with the feed on the big screen getting cut off for those in cheap/bad seats.

Quote:

According to F4WOnline.com, last night’s WWE Raw storyline featuring Kane being evaluated by HR was actually inspired by real-life events in the company and the Bill DeMott controversy from earlier in the year.

As noted, the woman who played “HR Ashley” was in fact Ashley Osterrieder and she is the actual director of human resources at WWE headquarters.
Quote:

During an interview with Channel Guide Magazine, Paige talked about why she decided to drop a pipebomb promo. Here's what the former WWE Divas Champion said:

“I felt like the whole ‘Divas Revolution’ thing started to get stale,” she said. “I thought it definitely needed a kick in the ass a little bit. Vince [McMahon] and our writers were so cool with the promo. They definitely gave me the freedom to say what I wanted. I kept it as tame as possible. I wanted to go a little bit harder, but I thought, ‘Nah, I’ll save it.’

“It was definitely an adrenaline rush. I wanted to be the bad guy and am happy to be the bad guy. I don’t mind being hated. But the crowd was so receptive to it and great. They were cheering most of it. I was like, ‘No, that’s not the way it was supposed to be.’ It was great. I was very nervous before doing it. I just wanted to get out there and kick some butt and light a fire under the ‘Divas Revolution’ again.”

“I feel like that a ‘Pipe Bomb,’ or ‘Paige Bomb’ as I call it, is what was needed. Now a team has split up and everyone is going for everyone, which is great. I’m looking forward to seeing where everyone else goes.”

She also explained why she thought the Divas division need a spark:

“It was cool the first couple of nights with the NXT girls coming up,” she said. “It was something new and fresh. Then we kind of went back to this stale state of having tag matches. We weren’t telling a story. Where was this going? With the whole Charlotte and Nikki [Bella] story, it was similar to me and Nikki. People were complaining about that.”
Quote:

Scott Fishman has a new article online for Channel Guide Magazine featuring quotes from Nikki Bella to promote the season finale of Total Divas, which promotes Dolph Ziggler saying he still has feelings for her. Below are highlights from the piece.

Regarding the hate that gets spewed in her direction:

“I ignore it,” Bella said.

“Even though I see the hate on social media, and it shocks me. It shocks me the rumors people start, that I have the title because of my boyfriend. If that was the case I would have gotten the title when I came back years ago and still had the title. He has nothing to do with it. He has nothing to do with anyone’s story or anything like that. He has zero pull. We talk about it all the time because it’s funny how people say that.

“I think where it started was for a year AJ had a voice on WWE TV and all of us on ‘Total Divas’ didn’t. Then Vince [McMahon] didn’t want the title on any ‘Total Divas’ member because he didn’t know how it would transition on Sunday night and Monday in case there was a title change and the show was airing.

“So for a year she got her run through all the girls. I was the only one she really didn’t. She got to say these things that weren’t true, but we didn’t get to speak back. So I felt like that is where the perception of Brie and I really started. She said things like we came back for reality show and all this stuff. It was all untrue. While this is happening, I’m working twice as hard to be better and improve my craft to become the next diva’s champion.”

Hate because of who she dates:

“There is a part of me where it hurts my heart a little bit. I give these fans everything I have. I give them my personal life. I give them my body. I give them everything I can weekly, and that is what they say back? So it’s sad to me. I hope one day they can look back and say, ‘Wow. She actually did try hard and wasn’t a bad wrestler. She is here for the right reasons, and it has nothing to do with her boyfriend.’

“I get it. When you are on a reality show that is top rated and dating this successful man who is in the same business as you are and you have a twin sister who is married to someone in the business who happens to be successful, I think that is where I get the hate. They say I have it all, but I have worked for every single bit of what I have. It took me almost nine years to have that championship and have a decent run. Not only that but if I didn’t really put my life out there and gave it my all, the [Total Divas’] could have failed. We wouldn’t have gone past season one. I give every day of my life to that show. So hopefully one day they will be grateful that I’m doing it for all of them.”
Dirtsheets at the time teased the original plans for AJ's "pipe bomb" promo was meant to lead to something big before getting scrapped because a few people complained backstage. Been assumed it was the Bellas since they were visibly upset during the promo itself and lashed out a bit on social media after the show.

Quote:

According to the most recent report from the Wrestling Observer, there are currently plans in place for The Rock to be a participant in what is supposed to be one of the biggest cards of all-time, and his opponent will be none other than Triple H.

This is something that has been teased a few times, including at this past WrestleMania in Santa Clara, California. He was involved in an altercation with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and he enlisted the services of Ronda Rousey to help him. This led people to believe that we could see a mixed tag at WrestleMania 32, but that doesn’t seem to be the case any longer. Not to mention, it doesn’t seem all that plausible that Rousey will be there at all in any capacity.
Supposedly Rock recently rejected the idea of facing Brock as a possible match option for Mania. Rousey is busy with a film that's being made around the same time as the Road to Mania and Mania 32.

Quote:

It appears as if former NWO and DX member Sean "X-Pac" Waltman sustained a potentially serious injury this weekend while wrestling at an indy event. Waltman posted a photo, saying that he was going to have to get an MRI on his arm, speculating that be may have a torn bicep and pec. Former TNA Champion Magnus took to Twitter to wish Waltman a speedy recovery, and note that X-Pac put the fans first and continued wrestling.

One personality who is sure to show up in that documentary is WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson, credited as inventing the Royal Rumble match concept. The 30-man classic is close to 30 years old, dating all the way back to January 1988 and still going strong to this day.

Expect to see some Rumble-themed extras in addition to the main portion, in a similar format to “The True Story of WrestleMania” DVD and Blu-ray released by the company in 2011.

Apparently Daniel Bryan has been cleared for months now by outside doctors but WWE is being incredibly cautious. If they do decide to let him step back in the ring and stall til after Mania it would be such a dumb fucking waste. I wanna see them bring the "I'm cleared and I wanna wrestle!" "Nope, not gonna happen." story to the show and have it build for months before he finally somehow gets a WrestleMania match. Maybe for the IC Title against Owens like Damian Rey said. With the right long build, it could be a HUGE fucking match and put the IC title on display in a major way.

Assuming they wanna take a wait and see approach with Bryan when he comes back, I might even have Owens ruin the party by picking up the shocking win. It would stretch the story out past Mania with The Authority garnering more heat on Bryan by saying "I told you so" and it would make Owens look more badass by robbing the fans' markout moment. It would also bring up the IC title more by having Owens look like a world-beater with it.

I wouldn't have minded them dropping the titles to The Real Americans or something, but The New Age Outlaws were definitely the wrong way to go. I think that at some point, The Usos should have gotten the titles and Rhodes & Goldust could have turned heel on them without the Stardust gimmick and it would have been hot. Alas.
