The point is- single player in these games is an afterthought and as a predominantly single player gamer myself I dislike that this is now their official stance for the future.

Kalyx triaD 08-27-2013 11:04 PM

It's just EA, their single player offerings are hack anyway.

But as it stands, it's already their policy, so what difference does it really end up making?

It's already an afterthought, sometimes non-existent, and otherwise almost always shit.

Curtis 08-27-2013 11:20 PM

Theres plenty of independ developers who will keep making kick ass single player FPS games like Daikatana, so don't worry.

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-28-2013 01:57 AM

Bought Madden and I scored a few touchdowns with Stevan Ridley to win the game, but I marked the hell out when....

SPOILER: show

He did his "draw a door/kick through it" touchdown celebration.

I disagree. Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Mirrors Edge, Burnout, Need for Speed all had great single player experiences.

That said, some of those had multiplayer without suffering for it, so it's whatever.

EA doesn't care about NFS anymore.

I thought NFS fans hated Criterion's installments.

Anyway, hopefully this means a Burnout game in the near future. Some other stuff, too, but it's been too long since Burnout, dammit.

Kalyx triaD 08-30-2013 09:45 PM

Criterion's NFS games were the best era of the series. A perfect fit.

Vietnamese Crippler 08-31-2013 02:02 AM

I prefer the SHIFT games, but I'm guessing we're not going to be seeing any more of those.

Is that your opinion, or a general consensus?

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-31-2013 02:11 AM

Never really liked racing games unless they were in the arcade with the real steering wheel, breaks and stuff. Also Burnout because of how cool it was just to cause serious damage with a car.

People really liked the combination, though I think the return of Burnout would be just as celebrated.

Kalyx triaD 09-01-2013 03:06 AM

Go to Kickstarter and look up Mighty No. 9 right fucking now.

Kane Knight 09-01-2013 03:38 AM

Never!

Kane Knight 09-01-2013 03:38 AM

...I already did, for the record.

Kalyx triaD 09-01-2013 04:39 AM

Fucking awesome.

VSG 09-01-2013 11:41 AM

I am never paying for games on something like Kickstarter- no way I will pay 2 to 3 years in advance for a product I may not even want at that point.

How often is it 2-3 years?

Also, I can't imagine not wanting this game in 2 years. Unless, of course, a nuclear holocaust happens or something like that and I'm hunting giant radioactive rats for food in a destroyed city.

Kane Knight 09-01-2013 12:04 PM

...and if that's the case, I doubt I'll be worried about dropping 20 bucks on the investment.

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-01-2013 09:13 PM

Made a connected franchise in Madden for 360.

Today's News:
1) According to early sales at least for the UK region, Rayman Legends so far has sold around 20% better than Rayman Origins did during the same period while the Wii U version sold the most for platforms.
http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=211298

2) Keiji Inafune, creator of Mega Man, believes the gaming industry in Japan has become a lot worse than before due to the growing hardships both indie and small studios are experiencing in regards to both getting proper funding needed and securing the rights to IPs they develop from big publishers. He stated this was the main reason he turned to Kickstarer to help fund his Mighty No. 9 project which recently reached its goal.

So Mighty No. 9 is a new megaman game.

Except not.

SOLD

Kalyx triaD 09-03-2013 03:33 AM

Getting Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate today. So yeah, that's gonna be my fighter until GTA5 takes my soul.

Drakul 09-03-2013 05:41 AM

Holding off on DOA5U with GTAV being just 2 weeks away. Might buy a couple cheap old N64 games to pass the time. Any suggestions from anyone? I've got a few ideas for nostalgias sake but I'm open to others.

Kalyx triaD 09-03-2013 05:43 AM

I imagine you already have everything worth a damn.

Drakul 09-03-2013 05:45 AM

Pretty much. Missing Conkers Bad Fur day because £90 is asking too much.

Thinking of getting Killer Instinct Gold, along with a couple of others.

Kalyx triaD 09-03-2013 05:53 AM

Don't think KI Gold aged well.

Drakul 09-03-2013 06:00 AM

Probably not. I can't really think of anything else I'd really like to try get besides KIG and Conker. Fighters Destiny was cool at the time but I can't remember if it was 1 or 2 that had the cow. That's the one I played. Briefly played Body Harvest as a kid but not enough to remember anything about it.

Kalyx triaD 09-03-2013 06:24 AM

I love Fighter's Destiny (1). Very interesting system.

Works on the 360 backwards compatibility too.

Drakul 09-03-2013 07:14 AM

I hear that that version is censored and changed in certain places. I'd rather have the original N64 version.

Thanks for looking it up, though.

Kane Knight 09-03-2013 10:11 AM

Snag a ROM in that case?

Drakul 09-03-2013 10:58 AM

Not into the ROM scene. I do things legitimately or go without.

Fignuts 09-03-2013 01:43 PM

Mischief Makers

Drakul 09-03-2013 02:08 PM

Totally forgot about this game but think I'll pick it up as I recall it being pretty good.
