Microsoft's next Xbox 360 update is confirmed to do away with funny money:

http://news.xbox.com/2013/08/xbox-one-local-currency

Honestly, I never cared that much because how hard is it to understand that 80 MSP equals a dollar and work from there? However, a lot of people want this, so cool.

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-11-2013 12:34 PM

Does this mean current points will be converted to a real cash level? Same exact exchange rate and any way to cash out?

Kane Knight 08-11-2013 12:35 PM

That's what they're saying, though in slightly weaselly terms.

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-11-2013 01:33 PM

Pretty silly since you can already buy games with money instead of points. Points were easier for kids/parents.

Kalyx triaD 08-11-2013 02:02 PM

Like KK said it wasn't rocket science but people complained for years and here we are.

Personally, I think it may help in that people will how cheap most of XBL actually is.

SlickyTrickyDamon 08-11-2013 02:12 PM

Only real problem I have is that Bing Rewards gives me microsoft points for using Bing for searches and stuff. Hope it can continue with just cash equivalents.

Kalyx triaD 08-11-2013 03:08 PM

I don't see why not. Reward programs like that are essentially forms of discount anyway.

Today's News:
1) According to GamesRadar's review, Ducktales Remastered includes the option to choose between the original NES and remastered soundtrack for in-game music.
http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=209692

2) A federal judge has rejected Gamestop's request to have their on-going class action lawsuit be dismissed. The lawsuit alleges Gamestop both failed to inform customers regarding games with single use DLC codes and claimed used copies contained exactly the same content as a new copy.
Quote:

The lawsuit was spawned when gamers were allegedly misled that their used copy of a game would be exactly the same as a brand new copy, including all the pack-in DLC content that came with the new game and offer a "value to the customer".

This was not the case however, as the used copies of the games did not come with the pack-in DLC. The DLC had to be purchased separately. When purchased separately, the cost of the used game and pack-in DLC would actually be more than the price of a brand-new copy.

Well then it wouldn't be fucking Contra then, would it?

They make a game that couldn't be any more Contra, and refuse to call it Contra. Now they're making Call of Duty, and calling it Contra. I don't even

Kalyx triaD 08-14-2013 01:57 AM

Hard Corps will be the last true Contra game, I can stick with that.

Fryza 08-14-2013 06:52 AM

Contra of Duty.

VSG 08-14-2013 07:37 AM

Way to get my hopes up, Konami :'(

Kane Knight 08-14-2013 09:02 AM

Who cares? Every game should be Call of Duty.

The current Humble Bundle is pretty nice, despite the caveat that a few games require Origin to run. Dead Space, Dead Space 3, Burnout Paradise Ultimate, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Mirror's Edge, Medal of Honor, and Battlefield 3 and a Sims pack if you beat the average.

Even better, EA/Origin aren't getting any money from it - their share is going to charity.

I basically thought of my purchase as a donation to the HRC, only instead of a tax deduction, I got a bunch of games.

Indeed. which is good, because I was going to just give it all to the Humble Tip and Charity anyway.

Still, nice move on their end.

I'm sure they said something similar after Resident Evil 5. Hopefully they mean it this time.

I keep forgetting what Infinity is. That's a lame reason to cancel other projects.

Games for Windows Live is being shut down on July 1st 2014. What this means is that any games using it will cease to work past that date, unless the developers patch it out (like they have with the Bioshock games and Batman games, which will now fully be Steamworks titles).

For me, they need to please patch it out of Fallout 3 and Dark Souls... but I'm not holding my breath.
