An Amphitheater? Interesting choice for a venue.

Strange. Could look cool

Considering the source, that might be exactly what they were trying to do.

Not saying it is, but I'm saying if one of them says in some future shoot interview that they were watching South Park and said "let's try to make that set for realsies", it wouldn't surprise me.

Ace Romero is booked for the Over Budget Battle Royal

Supreme Olajuwon 03-07-2019 05:55 PM

It wouldn’t be a battle royal if there wasn’t a big fat guy for the announcers to question who’s gonna be able to throw him over the top rope.

slik 03-07-2019 07:03 PM

damn @ heinous neg rep from STD

Droford 03-07-2019 10:22 PM

I want to a TNA show at the delaware state fair a few years ago that was basically the same setup...the ramp came down from the musical stage and the ring was surrounded by seats on 3 sides. Got my foot stepped on a few times (most notably Brian Kendrick who seemed to do it every time he came by my side of the ring) cause i was in the front row and the railing was so close my feet had to go under it.

Droford 03-07-2019 10:25 PM

Also AEW getting Jim Ross seems like a big deal and I hope he does better announcing live matches than his work dubbing NJPW on AXS was.

Jordan 03-08-2019 12:11 AM

AEW IS DEAD. They haven’t announced anything good in a while.

Jordan 03-08-2019 12:13 AM

I would prefer Ace Romero in MLW but whatever. He’s good I guess but he does way too much. I would sign him if I was AEW and consider pushing him like Vader. Can you imagine Ace vs Kenny?

They need to announce some body cool.

Not that it has anything to do with AEW, but I HATE dubbing when the announcer can't bring the same heat in a studio that they do calling a match live in the arena.

Mauro is one of the worst at it, you can instantly tell when a voiceover comes on instead of his actual commentary. Percy Watson is really bad at it too.

Taz, JBL, and Lawler on the other hand always sounded the same, and you couldn't tell one bit.

Black Widow 03-09-2019 12:07 AM

And the fan's of a company that hasn't even started have already become more annoying than TNA fan's that thought Vince had something to fear.

Ultra Mantis 03-09-2019 07:48 AM

Tbf Jim Ross fucking sucked at doing live New Japan commentary too.

Jordan 03-09-2019 09:32 AM

Can't wait to see Sonny Kiss go one on one with Chuckie T!

I understand why people think it would be a smart move to get JR for commentary on AEW but I think we need to leave well enough alone. He was pretty bad for NJPW mostly, moments were good but generally he wasn't.

Blonde Moment 03-09-2019 09:46 PM

Ross might be brought in for talent relations rather than broadcast?

No one is more annoying than TNA fans.

They’d be foolish to not use his brain for something.

Joey Ryan brings entertainment in the tradition of The Godfather, Rick Rude, Sable & Val Venis to his matches.

Yes, because not liking Eli Drake and Joey Ryan means I don’t like to have fun.

Did you just compare Joey Ryan to Rick Rude?

Vastardikai 03-10-2019 11:10 PM

Only actual comparison is this: Joey Ryan, like Rick Rude, has a mustache.

Kind of wish Rude was still alive, though. He would be the top heel in the Indies for two reasons:

1. He'd draw women, the anathema of the Indy Wrestling Fan.
2. He would cut the greatest promos in the world, making the fans absolutely loathe him. And he wouldn't even have to lie. It would be something to the extent of "Joey Ryan, we are a lot alike. People want to see both our dicks. The only difference is, the people who want to see my dick don't have one of their own."

It’s a different environment.

He's definitely more Rick Rude than Bam Bam Bigelow. If there's a modern day Bigelow it's probably Barrington Hughes.

Simple Fan 03-11-2019 10:46 AM

Love Barrington Hughes but he's no Bam Bam.

Jordan 03-11-2019 10:50 AM

I see Hughes as a blubbered version of JYD.

Jordan 03-11-2019 10:51 AM

If there is a modern day Bam Bam it's Keith Lee!

Jordan 03-11-2019 10:59 AM

So do you think Gallows and Anderson go to AEW or NJPW?

slik 03-11-2019 11:13 AM

Let me troll in peace damn it

slik 03-11-2019 11:15 AM

I bet AEW

already dreading the 'hot takes' on twitter about it ranging from "WWE SUX THEY LOST BEST TEEM' to 'ANDERS, SON & GALLO SUCK GLAD THEY R GUN FROM WWE!!"

Think Anderson has hinted at wanting to go back to Japan a couple times before but not entirely sure about Gallows.

AEW

Mr. Nerfect 03-11-2019 04:24 PM

I’m struggling with Nakamura at the moment. I thought he would stay in WWE, but they have made seemingly no creative effort to try and retain him. The Revival and Usos got Tag Titles. The Hardys are getting a push. At least Orton and Styles know they are heading towards each other for Mania. They stuck Naks in a filler team with one of the most infamously disgruntled employees.

When Nakamura tweeted “WCW” after losing the US Title, I began to doubt his WWE future.

I think that if he does leave, he’ll work DoN, possibly as the Cody opponent, win, but it only be a one-night deal to finish the US strong, before he goes back to New Japan and wins the IC Title back from ingrate champion, Tetsuya Naito.

WWE's former musical composer Jim Johnston recently revealed he's very interested in the idea of working for AEW if given the opportunity by them.

Quote:

Jim Johnston does not follow pro wrestling closely anymore, but even he is picking up the buzz from All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He made his first non-WWE wresting appearance last year at Starrcast during All In weekend. He believes WWE is currently vulnerable and has fallen into a place of weakness. He seems to think AEW has a shot at competing with WWE.

When asked directly if he’d interested in speaking with Tony Khan and Cody Rhodes about writing music for AEW, he replied, “Sure, absolutely. Give me a call.”

I thought he was a fairly obvious person to go after. I’m surprised nothing has been announced yet, to be honest.

I don't get why the Usos would want to leave. They are treated as the top level tag team. I don't think they would get a better spot elsewhere.

The Usos are in a weird spot. While true that they are "THE team", they've done everything there is to do short of an arbitrary and obligatory break up angle.

Familiarity breeds contempt. They might just need a change of scenery- fresh opponents that aren't just thrown together tag teams because WWE has that wild hair up their ass at the moment. There are only so many times they can have matches against The Bar and The New Day.

Imagine going up aginst Dem Boyz in a ROH appearance. Hell, even a short run in Japan to clash against, say, GoD would get much buzz about which island boys go the hardest. And of course you have the elephant in the room and the obligatory matchup with Matt and Nick.

Mr. Nerfect 03-14-2019 04:13 AM

The Usos could be treated as giant stars in AEW, who clearly want to put an emphasis on tag teams like The Young Bucks, The Lucha Bros and, eventually, Jericho & Omega. They could make a lot of money.
