YO ADRIAN, I DID IT!

Just beat it on insanity, all the luck in the world went my way on that last mission. Blood pressure and stress levels are slowly returning to normal.

#BROKEN Hasney 04-05-2012 09:16 AM

Extended cut is coming... It's even free.

Really didn't see the free part coming.

Ermaximus 04-05-2012 09:25 AM

Maybe now people will quit crying about the ending to the game.

#BROKEN Hasney 04-05-2012 09:27 AM

They might make it worse, if that's physically possible.

Ermaximus 04-05-2012 10:41 AM

I don't see why so many people are pissing and moaning. The game series is amazing and has high replay value. Gamers today are just spoiled, whiny cunts.

Someone would have set fire to their office if they charged for it. They knew it would have made for even worse press and they needed to do something to calm their fan base down.

The fact that it is coming out in the summer and not next week gives me hope that they are putting some serious thought and production value into it, and not just rushing some garbage out.

The ending kills the replay value actually. Lets put it this way - I couldnt wait to play ME1 and 2 again after I beat them because the story was so damn good. Now, I havent picked up the controller since I beat ME3 since I dont see any point to play again if thats going to be the ending everytime. You can bet thats how alot of other people feel.

#BROKEN Hasney 04-05-2012 11:03 AM

I disagree. With that ending, Mass Effect 3 has zero replay value. It even harms the replay value of the first two because who really gives a damn who lived and died in the first 2 games? Even in the cliffhanger endings of the first 2, a lot was different in terms of dialogue depending on what you did and with that epic feeling that something big was going to happen in 3 and then.... Nothing. Nothings really wrapped up, the same stuff happens just in a different shade.

The only thing I got after the ending was the feeling that I wish I bought it on console so I could trade it in immediately after finishing it. They've said this has a "more personal ending" so hopefully it does. That's all I want.
SPOILER: show
I'm happy Shepard died, that was a nice wrap-up moment other than the perfect ending with the breath. But let me know more about my crew, what happened to them instead of just a crash landing. Maybe even toasting Shepard over a couple of drinks, not cut to Buzz Aldrin talking to some kid.

I still say it was planned and the only difference the vitriol over the ending accomplished was that they will now give it away for free. That's unless there's no new missions in there and it is basically downloading a cutscene. If they tried charging for that it would have been batshit insane, even for EA.

Ermaximus 04-05-2012 11:11 AM

Either way, I love these games and will likely replay all 3 after I beat 3. Only this time, I'm going to make Shepard the biggest douche in the universe.

#BROKEN Hasney 04-05-2012 11:31 AM

Ha! If this ending debacle actually comes out alright and it's worth playing trough again, I'll be the goody two shoes, since I was mostly douche on the first playthrough.

The Destroyer 04-05-2012 12:08 PM

So it's not really going to change the endings, so much as add stuff to them? Suppose we'll see.

Swiss Ultimate 04-05-2012 01:10 PM

It's going to add a scene where the last 15 minutes of the game were a dream and Dallas is still alive.

Ermaximus 04-05-2012 01:18 PM

Or it could be that Shepard was never real at all? Maybe he's trapped in The Matrix?

Emperor Smeat 04-05-2012 05:41 PM

Based on the female voice actor for Shepard, no new dialog is currently planned for the Extended Cut which confirms as of now it literally will be just new cutscenes to be added to the current multi-colored endings.
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...-a-new-ending/

Also EA is still getting a ton of hate mail for expanding the same-sex relationships for ME 3 and primarily giving the option to make the male Shepard be gay.
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...e-sex-content/

Anyone expecting the rewards from last weekend's multiplayer promotion won't be getting them any time soon after Bioware discovered a significant percentage of people either hacked or used exploits to cheat to get those rewards.

Operation: Beachhead will be the challenge for this weekend.

Ermaximus 04-06-2012 09:59 AM

This game is really getting to me now.

SPOILER: show
First they kill Victus's son, then Mordin sacrafices his life, and now Thane's dead too. Makes me wonder why I did all those loyalty missions in ME2 to ensure their safety if they're all going to die in ME3 anyway.

It's specifically an epilogue. Which avoids like 80% of the issues raised.

You lying liar. Why must you lie like that? Dallas didn't change their story, Mass Effect fans wanting a change in the story is completely unprecedented!

What are you, some kind of moron?

Kane Knight 04-06-2012 11:32 AM

That post is going to show up in one of Reqtum's flood o quotes deal, completely missing the intent of the statement.

Tommy Gunn 04-07-2012 06:49 AM

Seems like spoiler tags are no longer a big deal on this page, but just in case...

SPOILER: show
No alternate endings (like we were promised for the past 5 years) pretty much kills replayability for me. What the fuck do I care now who lives and dies if we all get the same ending?

If this was a linear game with a concrete story from start to finish (Uncharted series) I wouldn't give a crap. But there's absolutely no pay-off for putting 30 hours into ME3 and uniting all the races, when I could just switch it to 'Shooter' mode in the options and bang it out in under 10 and get 95% the same ending with a few plot hole ridden cutscenes tacked on the end.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-09-2012 09:09 AM

Agreed.

Kane Knight 04-09-2012 11:28 AM

It pretty much was a linear game.

Swiss Ultimate 04-09-2012 12:01 PM

Sadly. Still fun.

FearedSanctity 04-09-2012 12:14 PM

And that's my biggest problem. The first 99% of the whole series was so fun and addicting. I've never been so careful with what decisions I've made in a game, not wanting to affect the universe in the wrong way.
SPOILER: show
Choosing the Quarians or the Geth was seriously at least a 10-15 minute decision for me.
So for it all to end like...that is just so fucking disappointing

Swiss Ultimate 04-09-2012 12:45 PM

Hey, maybe the new ending content will...*sigh*

Ermaximus 04-09-2012 01:03 PM

Well there is the whole
SPOILER: show
Shepard lives
scene if you got at least 5000 war assets.

Swiss Ultimate 04-09-2012 01:07 PM

Only if you k the Rs and Ss.

Probably should have been a hint that seeing the consequences of our actions didn't live up in ME2, either.

Take personal choices into account in a way that the ending didn't and Bioware/EA still justifies?

Fixed that for you.

Also, that was only in one ending, wasn't it?

Ermaximus 04-09-2012 01:53 PM

I got it in 2 of them KK.

Kane Knight 04-09-2012 02:04 PM

Really? Pretty much everyone else is indicating otherwise. That's also a big hole in the Indoctrination theory (Like it needed anymore).

Ermaximus 04-09-2012 02:55 PM

Got it in the red and the green.

Kane Knight 04-09-2012 04:05 PM

Well, you argue a good point, but the internet's never steered me wrong before, so I'm going to have to call you a liar

Ermaximus 04-09-2012 04:52 PM

You might as well, my girlfriend does.

Ermaximus 04-09-2012 04:54 PM

Also, because it's true in my case....

G 04-09-2012 08:26 PM

how much is this pack. i really love how they have weekend challenges with bonus unlocks. new multi stuff might get me to play it a few more times. haven't played since the first weekend challenge. i wonder how much my % shrunk.

ClockShot 04-09-2012 08:28 PM

No modes? Not worth it.

G 04-09-2012 08:40 PM

Yeah, I wondered about that too. They have the mode selection locked off, so we're bound to get something sooner or later.

Ermaximus 04-09-2012 10:14 PM

G, the new pack that comes out tomorrow is free.

According to Bioware, Sony is the main reason why the PS3 version doesn't have any weekend challenges instead of everyone assuming Microsoft bought them as exclusive goodies.

Quote:

“Unfortunately, we are not yet able to offer our Multiplayer Challenge weekends on PlayStation 3. Sony has not yet approved the promotion,” EA community manager Eduardo Vasconcellos wrote on the official BioWare blog. ”We continue to work with them to find a compromise, but until then, Sony will not allow us to run the same Multiplayer Challenges on the PlayStation 3 that we run on Xbox 360 and PC.”
