X-Men First Class seems like such an unorganized cluster fuck of ideas.
I haven't liked the idea of that film since day 1. Casting choices aside, it sounds awful. Like it was pointed out, how do you make an X-Men movie now without Wolverine, Cyclops or Jean? the 3 characters that seem to be the ones people identify the most as being part of the X-men. The structure of the film even reminds me of this gem.. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/s70h5BKCHxE?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/s70h5BKCHxE?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> |
Totally forgot about that movie.

The comparison's pretty far reaching, eh?

Don't speak ill about any Marvel movie while Jean Kalyx is in the house.

Gonna be awesome. Seems like Branagh dialed down the Olde English for this though. Guess he thinks general audiences will be too dumb to get it. :-\ |

I have the Generation X film on DVD. It's certainly not brilliant, but for a cheap and tacky TV movie it's not that terrible.

Man..I remember when Gen X came out..I was at my peak of X-Men Fandom. Specially with Gen X. I had a ton of toys and comics. I liked the movie back when it came out. The characters were nothing like I pictured them but whatever.. |

I bet they'll have a scene where they take Thor shopping in modern times, and lots of comedy like that.
|
That could work with Cap better. Thor will most likely have beats with Stark over tech. The serious tension will aptly be Stark vs Cap. It's a relatively recent rift but Whedon will not pass that up.
|
I don't think it should work with either. I wasn't suggesting the idea as a positive thing
|
Can't wait to see Thor vs Hulk in live-action.
|
Will Thor even stand a chance against Hulk? It looks as though they've toned down his power bigtime.
|
Live-action wise, Hulk's the strongest there is, but hell if he don't get some Hammer. We might see Hulk Buster armor too.
|
"Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" films in the fall (in 3D) with Nic Cage still starring as the titular hellish biker.
|
I'm one of the few people that didn't mind the GR film. Sure it wasn't brilliant, but it was good. Looking forward to this.
|
I personally wish the Avenger's movie was using Grand Theft America as a plot.
That being said, Thor looks badass. And I'm interested to see how potent Thor is. I have a nagging feeling he spends most of the movie severely depowered. |
Ugh Nic Cage
He's in every movie now. |

I felt like posting this because I think it supports a theory/suspicion that I had a few months back in this thread. I think this goes to show what I was talking about when I predicted Iron Man would be the focal point/leader of The Avengers movie. I know this is just a cartoon, but it's a current project by Marvel with all this Avengers hype and Iron Man is clearly front and center while Captain America chills behind him in the shadows. Iron Man is Marvel's current cash cow. No way is he not leading |
Interesting.
For a second I thought Giant Man had a cape..then I realized it was Thor's. |
I remember posting that trailer a few months back. God I hope it's better than the last Avengers cartoon.

Fantastic Four have plenty of villains. Just not many decent ones who'd work well enough to carry a film.

Emma Frost on set:

Probably not in "the" White Queen costume to help push toward the PG(-13?) rating.

She has major cleavage in the Nick cartoon!

Cartoon =/= live action. Different format = different prejudices.

that stuntman looks pretty out of shape :$

Cool suit, though.
And the damn wings are there. Late adds after fan outcry? |
LOL that guy should play Cap.
|
So anyone think this Captain America movie will be better then the 91 Captain America?
Gonna be hard to beat. |
The '91 movie with Matt Salinger? I use to love that film when I was a kid. Althought watching it now, it is terrible, and Cap's costume is probably the gayest costume I've ever seen in a film.
|
My favorite part of that film as a kid was the reference to the invaders. First time I saw it I thought they would make cameos but no..

Columbia Pictures has announced that Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, the sequel to the 2007 Ghost Rider movie, will be shot in 3-D and will debut on February 17th, 2012. Nicholas Cage will reprise his role as Johnny Blaze in the sequel, which is being helmed by Crank directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who also share the dubious distinction of having written the script for the Jonah Hex movie.
Under Marvel’s “use it or lose it” policy Sony/Columbia was under considerable pressure to make a second Ghost Rider movie or lose the movie license to the property (see “Ghost Rider 2 Is No Reboot”). |
Can't wait till all the other companies lose their licenses and Marvel can have a proper movieverse.

Wow, these cartoons are pretty sweet! And we're seeing a lot of characters who haven't been in any other Marvel series such as Hydra and the Wrecking Crew. One question though: are all the episodes supposed to be this short, 5-minute jobbys, or will there actually be pretty 20-30 minute episodes on TV.
Never really liked those cartoons that were 5 minute episodes, kinda like Clone Wars. |
These are just small episodes setting up back stories, the show will have the 25min runtime.
|
That's cool to hear. I'll definitely check this out!

Is he wearing fake feet?
The joys of movie making. |
Yeah since he has to run in the street "barefoot" he is wearing fake feet to protect him.
|
I got that.
|
I really like how Captain America looks. I wonder if they will update the costume (particularly the mask) once he's out of WWII
|
I imagined Stark or SHIELD would give Cap and Thor some sort of upgrade gear in the third act.
|
Doesn't the whole movie take place in the past though?
|
I was talking about Avengers.
|
Does the entire Captain America movie take place in WWII? I thought it was going to be half and half, but maybe I'm making that up

some sexy capri pants Cap's got there

I just read on Wikipedia that it was originally planned to be half WW2/half modern day, but it seems that with The Avengers on the horizon they've decided to make the whole thing WW2.
Makes sense, since they can cover the modern stuff only a year later in Avengers. Though I'm sure they'll be some kind of scene(s) that set that all up at the end. |
Pretty stoked that it's primarily WWII really. I hope this is as much like Raiders of the Lost Ark as Joe Johnston claims.
I really think that's the perfect influence for a Cap movie. Especially one set in WW2 I also hope it's minimal on the CGI. Not a huge fan of overuse of the tool, but it will come off as especially inauthentic in a period film. There'll be plenty of that in Avengers so it would be a nice break. Doubtful though. |
I bet you at the end of the movie they flash forward to the present and show Captain America doing something heroic with his new modern suit on and Fury comes and asks him to lead the Avengers.
|
I would have imagined the end being the bit from Cap is frozen in ice.
Then after the end credits maybe Tony Stark or Nick Fury could appear and just say 'we've found him'. Or something like that. Whatever. Cool pics though. Liking the costume, and Chris Evans looks pretty good. |

Interesting including Hulk's 'Planet Hulk/WWH' fluency. Also 10pts for Haweye's one-liner.
|
The Thor movie looks like it could be pretty decent.
|
I'm getting the vibe that Cap Am will be pretty good, and Thor will be shit. That's just my hunch though.
Obviously it could be the other way around, or they could both be great/shit. I usually have a good feel for what I'm going to like, but during promotion of Iron Man I actually got the vibe that it might suck. I was way wrong. So who knows |
Thor will probably be on the level with, if not better than, Iron Man 2. Probably not come close to the first Iron Man.
Captain America I am expecting to be great. |
I think Captain America needs to be great. They're going to want to go into Avengers strong and it probably wouldn't be good at all if Captain America was disappointing.
I won't even really care if Thor is mediocre. I just feel like Captain America needs to deliver for Avengers to fire on all cylinders. Iron Man already did it's job and Incredible Hulk was good enough. I have a lot of faith in Avengers otherwise. |
The Thor movie has the potential for some hugely epic battles!
|
I can't stand Thor's look for this movie. Especially the haircut.

As predicted by many (including ICv2 see “Emma Stone Up for Spidey Role”), the talented young actress Emma Stone has landed the plum female role in the new Spider-Man movie. What is somewhat unexpected is the fact that she will be playing Mary Jane Watson, since Sony layed down a smokescreen around the character by denying that MJ would be in the new film.
Sony tends to reward actors who do well for the studio, and Stone has turned in excellent performances in the successful horror comedy Zombieland and Easy A, the teen comedy that is currently in theaters. According to Deadline, with Stone getting the MJ role, there are four actresses in contention for the Gwen Stacy part including Glee’s Diana Agron, Mia Wasikowska, Georgina Haig, and Dominique McElligott. http://www.icv2.com/images/18486Emma_Stone1_MD.jpg |
Nice choice for Mary Jane, though if they're going off of Ultimate Spider-Man, it doesn't exactly match the nerdy MJ from the comic. Hopefully this means she'll be more like the regular Marvel version.
