I just read about this on wrestlecrap, but I can't really find any good videos of this. Was that a real thing? How did that work? Did they zoom in on Hardy so we could hear his thoughts?

Fucking hell, TNA.

Part of the plan for tonight's RAW show got changed. May or may not be related to Undertaker's health concerns after last night's match.

Quote:

The Undertaker was previously scheduled to be backstage at WWE Raw tonight in Brooklyn, however PWInsider.com is reporting Undertaker flew back to his home in Texas from New York this morning, so he will not be at Raw tonight.

No word on why plans have changed, but as noted Paul Heyman is expected to appear on Raw tonight to address the finish of last night’s SummerSlam main event.

Despite being banged up following his match with Brock Lesnar, there reportedly has been no talk of Undertaker sustaining any serious injuries last night.

Pretty much yeah, he would usually have an exchange with somebody backstage then the camera just lingered on his face while a monotone voice over played and he stared into the distance. He would nod occasionally in approval of his own thoughts. I'm pretty sure they even did at least one of these promos where the authority figure (Either Hogan or Bischoff) just sat at his desk in silence as Jeff did his internal monologue. No questions asked.

We noted earlier that both Team Bella and Paige lashed out on Twitter over how the fans in Brooklyn reacted during their Team PCB vs. Team Bella match on RAW last night. To counter the negative crowd reactions, WWE inserted an extra commercial into the West Coast feed of RAW last night. Right after Paige took Nikki Bella to the corner and did a shoulder block, RAW suddenly cut to a commercial. This cut out most of the "boring" chants, the wave and the "we are awesome" chants.

There's talk that both Bubba Ray and Devon have signed a multi-year deal but that hasn't been confirmed. The former tag team champions were kept at hidden at Monday's RAW and practically nobody knew they were there until they came to the "gorilla position" before going out. Top WWE officials were obviously aware of the return but at least a few others knew ahead of time as WWE had the pyro, music and new t-shirts ready. As noted, it appears The Dudleys will be facing The New Day and possibly The Prime Time Players at Night of Champions.

The sale of Stephen Amell and WWE's special charity shirt for SummerSlam ended at 11pm EST last night and they sold 15,694 shirts. The shirt has raised more than $400,000 for the Emily's House charity. Stardust noted on Twitter last week that he would personally deliver the check to Emily's House if 10,000 shirts were sold.

The referee, doing his job, counted the pin anyway as WWE rules call for.

2nd time this month something like that occurred in a NXT Women's match.

Former WWE Diva Kelly Kelly (Barbie Blank) is the guest on this week’s Steve Austin podcast. She was on to promote her new show on E! called “WAGS” and to talk about her background, her career in WWE, her departure from WWE and more.

She revealed that she left WWE because she was dealing with some neck issues and she also never had a chance to really enjoy regular life because she’s been on the road with WWE since she was 19 years old. She talked about getting signed by John Laurinaitis and Vince McMahon coming up with the Kelly Kelly name after watching an episode of the “Cheers” TV show.

She also noted that she will be getting married in Cabo to former NHL star Sheldon Souray and she told a story on Souray meeting Austin at a WWE show in 1999. Austin asked her about possibly returning to WWE at some point and she was open to the possibility and said that she would be open to one last run in WWE.
Quote:

This week’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw did an average viewing audience of 3,721,333 viewers on the USA Network.

The post-SummerSlam episode of WWE’s flagship program saw viewership drop an average of (-55,334 viewers) from the week prior. Below is how the show did each hour:

Hour one – 3,606,000 viewers
Hour two – 3,794,000 viewers
Hour three – 3,764,000 viewers

That has to be a major disappointment for WWE considering everything the past three days was supposed to represent in selling out the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York for three consecutive shows. That's still an impressive feat but the fact that more viewers still aren't tuning in to the company's flagship show is troubling to say the least.

And football season is just around the corner. Speaking of, it's worth noting that this week's show was up against a pre-season game
For a quick reference, last week's show that had Taker, Cena, and Brock returning was also down compared to the prior week.

I've gotta agree with Noid here. I mean really, what matches have been better from a storytelling and in-ring perspective than that one? The whole thing was done perfectly from start to finish.

The idea of doing Sting vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Title at Night of Champions next month reportedly came up about a week ago and was decided on just a few days before Sunday's SummerSlam pay-per-view.

Regarding Sting's appearance on RAW last night in the segment with Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Rollins, PWInsider notes that the covered platform in the ring started out backstage and Sting was in there the whole time. Crew members brought the box out on a forklift, raised some of the lighting boards at ringside to make way, and put the box into the ring with Sting inside.

There was a time apparently early in Nikki Bella's title reign where there was a movement for her to drop the title and Cena stepped in. There was also a point that Paige was going to get the title fairly recently as a climax to the "change" angle, well before SummerSlam, but that also didn't happen because those kind of plans change weekly anyway. Charlotte getting the title shortly after being brought in was all something talked about as well. When they started pushing Nikki as chasing A.J. Lee's record, at that point the idea was that she wasn't going to get the record even though that line would have teased that she was. Internally, Nikki is a lock to remain in a top position for as long as her relationship with Cena is solid. Now, who knows, but it does appear she's getting the record, and I'd also expect them to take the title off her to push the Divas revolution idea fairly soon. But Diva plans are never etched in stone.

So still a possibility the real goal behind #GiveDivasAChance and Divas Revolution won't actually happen even after Nikki drops the belt.

Liger debuted on the NXT show, and is expected to be working more dates with WWE, which explains his beating Tyler Breeze on the show, although the Brooklyn show's main card had nothing but babyface wins. One promoter we are friends with had tried to book Liger for a few dates and was told WWE had him on those dates, so it looks like Liger has a deal with WWE. It appears his role will be similar to the Samoa Joe/Rhyno deal for NXT, although probably not as extensively because he's got New Japan. But it does open some doors in the sense WWE will now use a guy under contract to New Japan and work through the office on getting dates as opposed to the old doctrine of not using guys under contract to other companies. Neither Joe nor Rhyno was under contract to anyone and Joe was not allowed to work on ROH television in his final date with the company, while there's no way Liger won't be working on New Japan television, which airs in this country, although Liger is likely to rarely appear on World Pro Wrestling Returns on AXS.

New Japan officials were at both the NXT and SummerSlam events this past weekend. Kazuchika Okada was said to be very popular backstage with the WWE crew when he came to SummerSlam.

Regarding reports of Rey Mysterio possibly returning to WWE, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that there has been "casual insignificant" talk between the two sides. Mysterio was expected to sign a nice deal with Lucha Underground and still be able to work indies but with Lucha Underground's future up in the air, his whole situation has changed.

Raw after Summerslam Viewership History:

August 24th, 2015 = 3.721 Million
August 18th, 2014 = 4.19 Million
August 19th, 2013 = 4.3 Million
August 20th, 2012 = 4.47 Million
August 15th, 2011 = 5.05 Million
Some comparisons to this week's RAW episode and past post-Summerslam RAW episodes. Pretty much following the overall 200k-500k yearly drop pattern that's been going on for RAW ever since the end of the Invasion.

Cena will be hosting the Today show on 8/20 for the 9-10 a.m. hour., after doing the same thing on 8/17. This is part of the NBC Universal strategy to soften the image of wrestling and wrestlers so it doesn’t have such a negative stigma among advertisers. Since USA will be broadcasting five hours of wrestling in prime time, and while high rated, they have to charge low ad rates, and WWE doesn’t share in ad money, changing the perception of advertisers about wrestling is important when it comes to both the USA Network bottom line and justifying the rights fees, which escalate over the next two years
Some sheet news from last week but part of a larger plan USA Network and NBC has for the WWE. Like other networks, they are also struggling at getting good ad money with wrestling shows.

Some other sheet news includes:
  • Conflicting reports regarding the MGS Network special event with some saying Lesnar vs Bo Dallas got added and others saying its not or Lesnar's match hasn't been decided yet.
  • New Day were the recent guest for WWE's weekly online Micheal Cole interview segment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9aoTLldUIc
  • WWE currently considering the idea of debuting an actual person as Sister Abigail for the Wyatt Family.
  • Besides Kana, WWE also currently rumored to have hired indie female wrestler Athena.
  • In a "WWE Did You Know" type fact, Brock Lesnar's amateur wrestling record is 106-5. When put into a ratio, it ends up being the same as Undertaker's streak when it was broken (21-1). Courtesy of r/SquaredCircle.

Michael Cole looks really old in that gif.

I would guess that's why the camera never usually goes that close to him.

It's probably because he doesn't shave that stupid-looking shit below his lower lip.

On the UK tour they're doing a NXT Takeover live I'd assume it'll be like 3pm east coast

He's been with WWE (17 years) longer than Jim Ross was (16 years).
