Watched the internship

'Twas okay. Something nice to watch on an evening before going back to work the next day.

6/10

Nowhere Man 01-19-2014 08:19 AM

Kick-Ass 2: I kinda hated it. It couldn't make up its mind on whether it wanted to be a mean-spirited hatchet job of superheroes or a winking "nah, you know we love ya" parody kind of deal, so it just became kind of a mess. "Superhero stories are idiot male power fantasy written by and for delusional man-child losers with a hardon for violence and sexualized young women. Now enjoy this underage girl in a schoolgirl outfit brutally kung fu murdering a room full of gangsters."

The Mechanic - 4 out of 5

Liked the small twist at the end.

loopydate 01-19-2014 11:02 PM

Don John 6/10 - decent, but underwhelming considering who was involved
Runner Runner 5.75/10 - see above
We're The Millers 7.5/10 - silly, but with enough laugh-out-loud moments to push it into "good" territory
White House Down 7/10 - silly, but good action set pieces and good chemistry between the leads
RIPD - 6.5/10 - see above, but not as good as WHD

Kick-Ass 2: 7.5/10

Fun enough. Read the comic book recently, so I figured I'd watch the movie as well. I'd say it is better than the first movie. The comic book definitely does a better job balancing the "comedic/absurd/parody" nature with the "serious/escalating dark drama" bit. One of the most powerful scenes in the comic book is turned into a joke in the movie.

Her - 9/10
The Wolf of Wall Street - 9/10
Inside Llewyn Davis - 7/10

Now you see me 8/10

I really enjoyed this one. Guessed the ending but it was fun getting there.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-20-2014 10:56 AM

12 Years a Slave 9/10

The best film I have seen in quite some time. It definitely stays with you. Chiwetel Ejiofor was great, and Michael Fassbender was also fantastic.

Corporate CockSnogger 01-20-2014 11:17 AM

Paul Dano was great as Paul Dano.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-20-2014 12:40 PM

Fuck, yeah, Paul Dano has been typecast to play those weasely unpleasant roles. Poor sod.

Cloverfield - 4 out of 5

Corporate CockSnogger 01-22-2014 04:36 PM

The Wolf of Wall Street - Really good. Hilarious. Was expecting to not really be into it too much but yeah it's great. Whole dinner scene with Matthew McConaughey and his chanting, the midget ethics meeting and the whole time he was high on the Lemmon pills were all some of the funniest things I've seen in ages.

whiteyford 01-23-2014 01:07 AM

Great Gatsby 7/10

Watched it in 3D, kinda pointless.

GD 01-23-2014 04:17 AM

The Rainmaker - 9/10

The Brass Teapot - 2/10

CSL 01-24-2014 03:15 PM

Inside Llewyn Davis - dunno, really liked it. Would have maybe liked something a bit more conclusive but yeah, "velly good". Like 7.5/8 maybe

whiteyford 01-25-2014 10:22 AM

The Internship 7/10

Was alright, nothing great, I'd nip the Asian bird though.

Lock Jaw 01-25-2014 11:15 PM

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire 8/10

I liked it better than the first one. Felt more "balanced". Plus I liked the fact that they weren't all just going along with it. My main gripe about the series is how a lot of the male actors just look alike. Peeta, Gale, Finnick, and a bunch of the random male extras... all look very similar. Always takes me a minute to perceive who is who when they are on screen... and if it is some sort of fast paced action sequence with quick cuts, forget about it.

Submarine: 8/10

I don't like coming of the age movies anymore but this is a rare exception along with "The Perks of Being a Wallflower".

Corporate CockSnogger 01-26-2014 06:20 AM

Guru Dave, check out The Spectacular Now. It's a very good coming of age movie.

Godfather: Part II - 5 out of 5

Don't remember if I've ever seen the whole movie before.

Pirates of the Caribbean 1 and 2: 4/5

I know they have been out forever, but I didn't care much for Disney stuff and I'm playing catch up.

I'm on a huge pirate kick right now, just beat Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, started Black Sails on STARZ and doing a Pirate of the C movie a night until finished.

I liked where number 2 left off at, eager to watch 3 tonight or tomorrow. Heard it was good and all.

Corporate CockSnogger 01-31-2014 05:04 PM

I'm a huge fan of the first Pirates of the Caribbean film. The sequels are solid too, but for me, The Curse of the Black Pearl is everything a Hollywood blockbuster should be.

Johnny Depp seemed to like it too seeing as he's essentially been playing Jack Sparrow in every single film he's been in since.

whiteyford 01-31-2014 05:06 PM

Didn't realise there was little add on bits at the end like the Marvel films till I played Lego Pirates.

Awesome movie that'd make Tarantino proud... It almost felt like he owns this production. Think of it as Hostel/Fight Club female version. Even would make Ronda Rousey and the UFC women piss their pants on this one.

It'll also make Katniss from Hunger Games seemed salvageable in the fights on this too.. No bows and arrows bullshit just pure Cynthia Rothrock-ish MMA fights... https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...77131416_n.jpg

9/10.

Blue is the Warmest Color - French lesbo flick.. Erotic sex scenes are almost borderline on Human Centipede-ish eroticism.

Other than that, this one has LGBT boner level 10000000000000000 plus all over this movie. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...77131416_n.jpg

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones - Can I say REC-ish plot on this one? 6/10.

whiteyford 02-02-2014 02:56 PM

The Croods 7.5/10

Mortal Instruments : City Of Bones 7/10

Lily Collins is far too tidy to be the spawn of Phil.

Impeccable 02-03-2014 07:47 AM

I watched Joan of Arc yesterday for the first time (With Milla Jovovich)

Very good film, let down only slightly by the ending which I thought was rushed

7.5/10

PapaGeorgio 02-03-2014 12:08 PM

Nebraska 8.5/10

Blitz 02-04-2014 01:50 AM

Blue Caprice: 8/10. Hypnotic, excellently edited.

XL 02-05-2014 07:32 AM

American Hustle 6/10

Some great characters/acting, but at least 40 minutes too long. Kinda dragged towards the end, ending with a whimper rather than a bang.

The Condor 02-06-2014 01:33 AM

MITT: 8.5/10

whiteyford 02-07-2014 04:40 PM

Inside Llewellyn Davis - pass

Wolf of Wall Street - pass
American Hustle - pass.fail

alvarado52 02-08-2014 03:21 AM

The Conjuring - 8/10.

Not really scary, but it was very good and suspenseful.

Well if it's as erotic as Human Centipede I am one hundred percent on board
