Jags expected to announce Tom Coughlin as their new VP and Doug Marrone to become their official new head coach.

Raiders expected to fire offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave and promote QB coach Todd Downing as their new OC. Main reason appears to be due to Musgrave not willing to go more heavy in rushing attack when the team started to struggle on the offense after Carr got hurt.

Vance Joseph is the new Broncos head coach.

Glad the coaches are getting hired quickly and no Pats have been named yet.

Jumped in here to see if anyone cared that the Chargers were moving and got to read thru Fan hammering Droford about the Ravens lol.

I see Droford is just as blind a homer here as he is in the mlb thread

I don't like the Chargers moving to LA but I completely understand. If San Diego doesn't want to build a stadium then it their loss. At least the Raiders won't be in LA now. Hopefully they can get a stadium built in Oakland although I do like the sound of Las Vegas Raiders.

Damian Rey 2.0 01-12-2017 04:17 PM

I'm not a huge football guy. I know that they've been trying the last number of years to get a downtown deal done, and even went as far as trying to add on a waterfront property as part of an extension of the convention center to benefit comic con.

Little did I know they've been on a year to year lease for 16 years. That's ridiculous. Especially when the NFL has made it clear they would bring the Super Bowl here regularly should a new stadium be built.

The biggest clash was ownership wanted downtown and public officials wanted to rebuild on the current property.

It sucks since I am a casual charger fan but looking at it objectively it's the city's fault and more so the publicly appointed officials for consistently not budging and calling ownership's bluff.

Now they have egg of their face. But of course fans are blaming ownership.

There's also this silly claim that the Chargers won't have a fan base in LA. Even though up to a 3rd of their season ticket holders reside in the Orange county area. No reason to think they won't maintain that part of the fan base moving forward.

Yeah its very similar to the As situation in baseball with them desperately needing a new stadium but have too many problems in the way.

Chargers biggest break was Raiders deciding they'd rather be in Vegas than LA for relocation. Was rumored a bit the Chargers might have considered moving to Oakland if the LA option was closed.

I'm guessing this means Philip Rivers will announce his retirement in the near future.

Emperor Smeat 01-12-2017 06:09 PM

Rams hired Sean McVay as their new head coach and new NFL record for youngest head coach ever.

I know he claimed he would should the team relocate. Can't see him leaving that money on the table though.

I've heard they need to rebuild starting at quarterback anyways.

Emperor Smeat 01-13-2017 12:08 AM

Besides hiring a new head coach, Rams also hired Wade Phillips to be their new defensive coordinator today.

Good. Didn't want him to go to Washington.

#1-norm-fan 01-13-2017 09:19 AM

Damn. There goes that Broncos defense.

Ruien 01-13-2017 09:39 AM

Why did he leave Denver to go to the Rams for the same job?

#1-norm-fan 01-13-2017 11:38 AM

Money I guess? Though I can't imagine why Denver wouldn't break the bank to keep him.

Yep.

Bad enough that we let Mike McCoy crawl back to us to be the new OC.

Unless we grab a genius like Dick Lebeau or Mike Nolan to run the defense, that mile way wall is getting knocked down to a white picket fence.

He wasn't offered the Head Coach job after winning a Superbowl. Disrespect.

Pats keeping Josh McDaniels as offensive coordinator for next season. Was supposedly a big candidate for a head coaching job next season but only the 49ers job remained left and he didn't want it.

Broncos promote Joe Woods to defensive coordinator.

Pfft.

49ers rumored to be naming Kyle Shanahan as their new head coach but can't officially hire him till after the Falcons season ends. Only other real option was Seattle's Tom Cable but Cable rejected the offer and wanted to stay in Seattle.

NFL currently rumored to be fining the Seahawks a draft pick due to the team failing to properly report injuries on the team.

The Seahawks are cooperating with the NFL's investigation. Sources say the club is contending that because Sherman never missed a snap during the season, the team should not be severely penalized.

The league had already handed down a fifth-round forfeiture to the Seahawks on Sept. 19 for a repeat violation of rules governing offseason workouts. Sources tell Mortensen that an elevation of that penalty to a second-round forfeiture is under serious consideration.

Also under consideration are additional fines for the franchise and Carroll, who made the admission after the Seahawks' NFC divisional-round elimination to Atlanta.

Pats might not be the most despised team in the NFL anymore based on a recent report about the NFL being livid the Chargers decided to move to LA.

Turns out the NFL never actually wanted 2 teams to be in LA this quickly even though it was implied they did during the talks involving the Rams, Raiders, and Chargers. Might have been a huge reason why the Chargers/Raiders shared stadium never had strong support with the owners as an option. Also gave them the most money to stay out of the 3 teams even though it wasn't close to bridging the gap of money needed.

Rams struggling in their first season in LA in terms of support was a huge reason why things quickly went sour for the league.

According to ESPN.com, pretty much everyone in the NFL hates the idea of the Chargers in L.A. One source told ESPN that many of the league's 32 owners are "upset with the Chargers for moving."

It's not just the owners, either. The league office is "beside itself" over the Chargers' move.

In what might be the most surprising part of the report, the NFL actually wants the Chargers to move back to San Diego, although the league doesn't actually think that's a realistic possibility.

Chargers owner Dean Spanos is probably going to be horrified when he hears this news, because he used to be one of the league's most beloved owners (among the other owners). Instead, he's now viewed as a villain in San Diego, no one seems to care for him in Los Angeles, and it seems that he's lost the backing of his fellow owners. That's a trifecta of ugliness that's going to be difficult to recover from.

The fact that the league was completely against the Chargers' move shouldn't come as a surprise. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made it clear on several occasions that he wanted the Chargers to remain in San Diego.

Not only did Goodell say that keeping the Chargers in San Diego was a priority, but he also promised to give the city a Super Bowl if it could figure out a way to build a new stadium.

As for the owners, CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora can explain why they're upset. As La Canfora reported in early January, several owners had "grave concerns" about putting a second team in L.A. so soon.

After 21 years without a team, the league didn't want to rush into L.A. The owners and the league also didn't want to put a second team in the market with the Rams still trying to win fans over after a rough season. If the NFL starts to struggle in L.A., the owners are going to blame Spanos.

Steelers might be getting in trouble with the NFL due to the league thinking they didn't properly disclose Le'Veon Bell health status for the AFC title game. Basis seems to involve Bell revealing he's been dealing with a groin injury for weeks while Steelers coach Tomlin put him as a healthy scratch for several practices.

Casino mogul who is the main reason why the Raiders are moving to Vegas recently pulled out of the deal he had with the team.

Apparently its due to recent terms the Raiders proposed for the stadium which would have meant less power and money for Sheldon Adelson. Raiders now need to come up with an extra $650 million in order to honor their side of the stadium deal made with the city.

ClockShot 01-31-2017 06:39 AM

No way Raiders are gonna pick up Adelson's end. Don't think they got the cash.

Mark Davis ought to call Wynn or MGM and make a pitch. One of 'em is bound to bite.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-31-2017 01:31 PM

Emperor Smeat 01-31-2017 10:00 PM

Another big investor recently pulled out of the Raiders' Vegas deal with this time being Goldman Sachs bank. Now the Raiders owe even more money on the new stadium unless they can find a new rich investor or group soon.

The bank was meant to be a backup plan in case the stuff with Adelson fell apart but since they have very close financial ties with Adelson, they decided to leave the Raiders than risk future business with Adelson.

Might as well withdraw the relocation paperwork at this point.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-01-2017 12:35 PM

Will the fans even accept them back after this?

Current trade rumors regarding Tony Romo tease at Bills and Chiefs being the teams likely to get a deal done for him.

Meanwhile Browns are interested in a potential trade to get get Pats Jimmy Garoppolo.
