Hescnot a spring chicken either.

I don't really care. A lot of times I'll just listen to the Japanese commentary. Can't understand them but they put a crazy amount of emotion into it. Better than listening to Kevin Kelly anyway.

They STILL don't know who anyone is, what they do, or what's going on with the angles. JR has stated he doesn't care about New Japan numerous times and they have both taken shots at production / talent ON AIR. Absolute zero effort garbage on their part and neither has an interest in improving or at least getting familiar with the product.

I don't really dislike Kevin Kelly. There's just often a lot of dead air and he tries a bit too hard to be "in on it." It's too self-aware an act to go really to my tastes, but he's far from the worst announcer I've ever heard or anything. It's Callis that really frustrates me.

"If his leg is broken, he won't be able to hit the Superkick."
*About 1 second later Young Buck hits a superkick..*
"Superkiiiiiiiick!"

Can you find me those quotes? I'm not saying I don't believe you, but I do wonder if there is a different perspective to take. I've always heard JR be very complimentary of New Japan. It's not like he needs the work -- I've always imagined him doing it as a labor of love.

I'm 98% sure this is the direction they are going.

Evil Vito 07-09-2018 07:05 PM

I’m down with Barnett eating a Blade Runner.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-09-2018 09:26 PM

From what I've read, Barnett may have actually improvised and was just buying time for J.R. to recover.

Most of what he has said is buried in his commentary, there was a big backlash against the AXS commentary at last years show. He was calling everyone by the wrong name, he thought Zack Sabre Jr was Ospreay, Bushi was EVIL, didn't know anyone on the undercard to the point where Tama Tonga called him out on Twitter over it. In response, JR put out a statement that he was very sorry he didn't know which Briscoe Brother was which and how is he supposed to know when "I don't live this product". Never mentioned Tama or any or the other guys he called the wrong name repeatedly. On the same show he had also said something along the lines of "Kenny Omega will be a huge star if he ever makes it to WWE".

Jordan 07-10-2018 12:00 PM

I love JR but I think it would be a good idea for him to move on from NJPW. He has moments of brilliance, but not as many as there are glaring mistakes and oddball comments. And that all comes because exactly as he said he doesn't live this product. It would be good for everyone if he'd just move on.

Destor 07-10-2018 12:03 PM

JR adds a level of legitimacy that no one else can. No one is turning off their TVs because of JR.

Simple Fan 07-10-2018 12:12 PM

It's nice to hear JR doing commentary but he does embarrass himself often while doing NJPW.

Evil Vito 07-10-2018 12:55 PM

I'd just like JR to come in more informed about the product and the ongoing storylines

Destor 07-10-2018 01:08 PM

Thats fair.

Some details regarding the Jim Ross bump incident during the White-Juice match:

F4WOnline reports Ross has been diagnosed with issues involving his ribs and lungs after the unscheduled spot. Ross must now cancel three commitments this week due to this injury.

The WWE Hall Of Famer is not happy about this spot and he assured fans this is not a work of any kind. Due to problems with his ribs and lungs, JR has also been advised by his doctors to be cautious of contracting phenomena.

Ross reportedly spoke to NJPW officials before the show to make sure nobody did any spots around the announce table because he knew how much action could take place outside the ring.

Fignuts 07-10-2018 07:56 PM

I mean even if Juice and Jay didn't get the message, you'd think that after seeing how easily the other guard rails went flying, they'd have the common sense not to throw each other into the rail that was damn near touching the announce table with the 60 year old hall of famer sitting there. Fucking idiot.

Fignuts 07-10-2018 08:28 PM

New Being the Elite was great.

"He's a real piece of shit"

lol

Simple Fan 07-10-2018 10:46 PM

That's the incident I thought it was. JR has always confused names. Used to get Edge & Christian swapped all the time. He's still the best play-by-play announcer in the world. And it's the undercard. Most of them act like they are irrelevant, so why should JR refocus his energies into it? When you're important, JR treats you like you're important. More importantly, when JR treats you like you're important, you're perceived as important. They're just upset they're not getting the rub. JR is far more useful to New Japan than most of the talent talked about. They're replaceable; JR isn't.

If anything, get someone to do the opening card stuff, and then bring JR in to do the stuff that really has something to bite into.

Ultra Mantis 07-11-2018 04:07 AM

Oh no, his main event commentary is terrible too. He sounds like he doesn't want to be there and shits on the angles. Watch a show.

Simple Fan 07-11-2018 12:03 PM

JR is replaceable. Most the commentary he does isnt even live so there is no excuse for his mishaps in my opinion. He's a good voice to have but a part time announcer who dubs in his commentary is far more replaceable than any in ring talent.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-11-2018 12:12 PM

His WWE/NXT commentary is still good when he gets the sparse chances to do his thing. But his NJPW is beyond blasé. Dudes are getting flung off ladders and he acts like it's a wristlock.

Jordan 07-11-2018 02:14 PM

I wish Mauro was the voice of AXS NJPW.

Tama Tonga gave some reasons why the Bullet Club civil war is happening and Fale as the one who started it.

We tried, over time, to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it kept getting worse. The ideals of Bullet Club working together, being a team, and watching each other's backs was no longer what we stood for. We were a divided club. It was just too much to ignore."

Came from a recent interview he had with Sports Illustrated: http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/...n-bullet-club/

Simple Fan 07-11-2018 09:35 PM

That's what the video I posted confirmed.

Fignuts 07-11-2018 09:43 PM

Assuming Bone Soldier will be with them as well. That's a solid unit right there. Expecting good performances from Gale and Rama in the G1, to give the new squad a good starting boost.

Simple Fan 07-11-2018 09:53 PM

Gale and Rama For Life.

Emperor Smeat 07-11-2018 10:07 PM

Even after the beatings they got, could see Chase and/or Yujiro join Tama's group in the future. Probably try to act as peacekeepers initially like the Bucks did and then be forced to pick a side.

Right now the numbers favor Omega especially if Haku is not a full-time guy and Hikuleo's out due to an injury. If they add Chase and/or Yujiro, it gets closer to BC's split being entirely on NJPW and ROH + Omega lines.

Fignuts 07-11-2018 10:41 PM

What does chase actually add to either group really? He's fat, and doesn't have a dime piece escorting him like Yujiro.

Innovator 07-11-2018 10:47 PM

There might be a reason why Fale just got in great shape

Thought they were just typos seeing as G and F are next to F and R. Auto correct hates uncommon names, funny both got corrected though.

Why is Chaos even a faction? Doesn't seem like a faction at all. Just a bunch of guys who subscribe to the same news letter.

Evil Vito 07-12-2018 07:04 AM

Chaos strikes me as little more than an MMA fight camp.

Innovator 07-12-2018 09:14 AM

Why would a group called CHAOS be organized?

I knew some wiseguy was gonna say that.

That would make sense if the group consisted of wild crazy dudes. But they're all pretty stable, well adjusted people.

Meanwhile, Hiromu is talking to stuffed cat while part of an actual organized group.

Emperor Smeat 07-12-2018 10:43 PM

According to the Observer, Takahashi currently isn't expected to need surgery to fix his neck injury. Seems his injury is a lot less severe than NJPW initially feared.

Jordan 07-12-2018 10:59 PM

Good!
