So it's 3am, I'm bored and I have a crazy new theory about characters.

A few character teams seem a bit odd. Why would Zangief and Rufus be a team? Why would Rolento and Ibuki be a team? Why would Sagat and Dhalsim be a team? I think I've got it figured out.

The logical partner for Zangief is R.Mika. He is her idol, they fought in SFA3.
Rolentos logical partner is Sodom, both are FF bosses.
Despite being "rivals", I'd think Adon would make more sense than Dhalsim as Sagats partner.

I don't know about Adon but I've seen a lot of requests for R.Mika and Sodom and, Capcom being Capcom, they aren't going to pass up the opportunity to make a few extra dollars from this.
So they left R.Mika and Sodom out, along with other characters, I'm sure, in order to sell them later as DLC.

Zangief and the others now have no partner so they use these openings to fit in characters who they couldn't give a partner to. Rufus, Ibuki and Dhalsim.

Those being modeled from the last game, and R.Mika's attire is on Kuma as an alt. Makes sense.

And Heitachi has Sodom as an alt attire.

I am curious about one other thing. If the 2 SF bosses are M.Bison and Akuma and M.Bison is teaming with Juri, will Akuma be going solo or will he have a partner?

Unless the final fight will be a team of Akuma and Ogre. A super bad guy team.

That seems likely.

If anyone wants to hear the character select theme, here it is, posted by Capcom themselves as part of a dancing competition.
They want people to make up a dance to that music using moves from SFxT.

Probably what Kalyx said but it would be cool if it were like SFIV that had that mode with stipulations like the opponent is invisable or you're invisable or you have infinite EX etc.

Yeah but the list also mentions a Trial Mode, which I assume is the same type of stuff in SF4, so Mission Mode is something else.

Why is their a snake in the background? No one else has things like that in their character artwork.

I'm not sure, but I'm going to assume that the snake represents a new mode where you play through a shot for shot remake of the film Anaconda, with your world warrior of choice playing the Jennifer Lopez role.

I was thinking the other day that with gems, tagging and Pandora, they have crammed pretty much everything into the gameplay.
Then I thought the only thing they didnt put in was transformations. Ryu becomes a dragon, Zangief becomes a bear, Sagat becomes a Tiger etc. Then I realised it would just be Bloody Roar if they had transormations.

The Bloody Roar announcer always sounded so bored on the title screen.

That's a pretty random thought.

I was just thinking Pandora is some link between the Devil Gene and Satsui no Hadou. This crossover isn't treated with the usual 'portal' hopping story, instead treating the characters as if they always lived in the same world (just like the CvS series). So in this alternate universe for both camps, the DG and SnH could very well be linked by Pandora. Not that a strong mythology may come of this one-off crossover, just a thought.
