Lol I remember when people thought Triple H was gonna play Thor.

Joss Speaks About Avengers:

Quote:

I'm still writing the outline. I am at the stage where I am reworking and reworking. What I love about this is that there is no way that these people should be in the same room together, let alone the same team. And that, to me, is the definition of family.
He gets it.

Kalyx triaD 07-22-2010 09:32 PM

Jennifer Lawrence talks about being the new Mystique:

“When I got the part I dedicated a whole day to watching all three movies, and I really liked them. I was still a little worried, because I didn’t really understand the whole mutant thing. But the script cleared some of my questions up, and knowing that James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender were already on board gave me confidence.”

She had meetings with Vaughn and Co. in London this week. Today, it”s “I have to do 12 hours of prosthetics. Oh man.

“I have to take Mystique back to the beginning, before she became who we saw later. I don’t know exactly what I can talk about, but this is going to be fun.”

She says the prep work is physical, which knowing Mystique’s image, we can believe. Gym time. How does she look in blue?

“NOBODY looks good blue. Well, maybe Zoe Saldana. I am very curious to see how I’m going to come off in that suit.”

Fignuts 07-22-2010 11:16 PM

Honestly have no interest whatsoever in the new x-men movie.

Funky Fly 07-23-2010 04:31 AM

When does Fox lose the license?

Kalyx triaD 07-23-2010 04:41 AM

After their first bomb. X-movies print money.

Funky Fly 07-23-2010 04:52 AM

Is that the actual agreement? Sounds fucked up. Figured it would be "X amount of films or Y point in time, whichever happens first"

Kalyx triaD 07-23-2010 04:59 AM

It's been over a decade, man.

Funky Fly 07-23-2010 05:02 AM

Well, if they were licensed for say 10 films, it would take over a decade to put them all out.

Kalyx triaD 07-23-2010 05:10 AM

I was hoping the franchise would switch hands after X3 (as much as I love Hugh, Patrick, and Ian). Along with Spidey after Spidey 3 so they could be included in Marvel Films grander plans.

Neither happened.

Funky Fly 07-23-2010 05:53 AM

I mean, you'd figure they'd want to use the New Avengers somewhere down the line (3rd or 4th Avengers movie, maybe?), which means they'd need Spider-Man and Wolverine free to join the team.

Kalyx triaD 07-23-2010 05:56 AM

Or deals of historical proportions.

Funky Fly 07-23-2010 05:58 AM

Yeah, no doubt.

Or better yet, massive dickery involving lots of lawyersand broken promises.

Kalyx triaD 07-23-2010 06:06 AM

Hugh's gonna film Wolverine 2 next year, imagine he pulls some shenanigans and walks on the set of Avengers - in garb - for a quick scene. Fox would probably sue him and everyone involved, but the epicness can never be undone.

G4 will be the exclusive U.S. television home of four brand-new anime series featuring some of the most successful and iconic brands from the Marvel Universe. Produced by Madhouse for Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan (SPEJ), these four original series will feature iconic characters from "Iron Man," "X-Men," "Wolverine" and "Blade" in an edgy new anime world. These series will premiere on the network in 2011, it was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con.

"We are excited to partner with Sony Pictures and Marvel to bring these incredible icons to G4," said Neal Tiles, President, G4. "Marvel has shattered box offices around the world and captured the imagination of our G4 viewers. Combine that with the passionate following the world of anime brings with it, and we believe this project has incredible potential for the network”.

Jeph Loeb, Executive Vice President, Head of Television at Marvel Entertainment said, “Bringing Marvel and our characters to G4 is such an awesome opportunity. The size and scope of the animation from top-flight studios Madhouse and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan is nothing short of mind-blowing. We look forward to the start of a beautiful friendship and can’t wait to see the reaction from our worldwide fan-base.”

Each of the four new anime properties - "Iron Man," "X-Men," "Wolverine" and "Blade" - will air as standalone series made up of twelve 30-minute episodes. Guided by multiple Eagle award winner Warren Ellis, the four shows will feature a matrix of interlinked storylines and shared guest characters that further enhance this intellectual roller coaster ride for G4 viewers.

Iron Man - In an effort to make amends for his weapons manufacturing past, Tony Stark has dedicated himself to building the world up rather than tearing it down. Traveling to Japan to build a new arc reactor that will deliver unlimited free energy to the Japanese people, Stark is challenged by the Japanese government and the media when he attempts to import the necessary nuclear priming device. And when the reactor-in-construction is repeatedly attacked by the mysterious Zodiac consortium, Stark must gather his allies to take on Zodiac and its mastermind.

X-Men - The X-Men are reunited following the death of a teammate, and are summoned by Charles Xavier to Japan following the abduction of Hisako Ichiki (Armor). There, they confront the U-Men, a lunatic cult that steals and transplants mutant organs to further strengthen their own army, and the battle for justice is on.

Wolverine - Based on the popular graphic novel by Frank Miller, the series begins in Japan, where Logan is challenged by Shingen Yashida, the notorious leader of a powerful mafia clan. When Shingen's employee Yukio, a female assassin, falls out of Shingen's favor, she must kill him or be killed. Teaming up with Logan, the pair seek out the villain to exact their revenge.

Blade - Eric Brooks -- known as Blade -- seeks revenge on Deacon Frost, the vampire lord who killed his mother while she was still pregnant with Eric. With all the powers of a vampire and none of their weaknesses, Blade's quest leads him throughout Southeast Asia in search of Frost, and, in Vietnam, he discovers a vampire plot that threatens to take down the whole world.

Loving the Infinity Gauntlet. I wonder if it will be a major part of the film tho. Seems more like an easter egg at this point? but who knows. They can def. go big with it eventually.

Infinity Gauntlet will probably be an easter egg, yeah.

Also, got another good look at the destroyer at the show. Fucking perfection right there.

It appears that signs could be pointing to the one and only Robert Rodriguez to assume the director's chair and bring the solo debut of Marvel's infamous "Merc with a Mouth" to the big screen. According to The LA Times, the Predators and Machete director is currently in talks with Fox to helm Deadpool

Jon Kano 08-02-2010 05:05 PM

Cool, I am a long time fan of Rodriguez.

One thing I don't get about this Deadpool film...

so they are making it and releasing it as an origins film? - I read its going to completly ignore 'Wolverine'.

So does that mean the scene at the end where he lives is for Wolverine II?

Either way, they really should think about this shit before.

Jeritron 08-02-2010 05:29 PM

Rodriguez is awesome. I think they should just completely ignore Wolverine and let Rodriguez do what he wants

Lock Jaw 08-17-2010 09:20 PM

I think even more people were cast for the X:Men - First Class movie. Let me find it...

Alright:
According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Rose Byrne is in talks to play Moira MacTaggert in the film. They describe the character as "a scientist and an authority on genetic mutation. She'll be the love interest of James McAvoy, who plays mutant telepath Charles Xavier." Meanwhile, Comingsoon.net has learned Jason Flemyng will also appear in the film. "That role will be Azazel, who was described as a "teleporter" during Flemyng's presentation for Jonathan English's Ironclad, but who is in fact none other than Nightcrawler's father!" they write.

Kalyx triaD 08-17-2010 09:27 PM

Extremely sorry. There has been numerous updates to First Class that I've been lax on and even a Joss Whedon interview concerning Avengers (nothing much said though).

I am at your service despite the shit over at the VG Forums.

Quote:

Singer spoke with AICN about the film, seeking to clarify what exactly is being done with everyone's favorite band of merry mutants. First off, the film is set in the 1960s. JFK is the president, the Civil Rights movement is in full swing, and "there is a spirit of a hopeful future that was prevalent in that time." Charles Xavier and the man who will become Magneto -- Erik Lehnsherr -- meet and dream of a future where man and mutant can live together in peace. And we all know how that works out…

Some bullet points follow on the ton of info that Singer has revealed:

--The two leads will be in their late twenties.
--Xavier will not be in his wheelchair, but we will learn how he gets there.
--He'll also still have hair.
--Xavier and Magneto will create the X-Men together.
--This is not based on the comic book called First Class but rather is "a new beginning" for the series.
--Director Matthew Vaughn is "technologically inspired" by the James Bond tech of the '60s.
--The costumes will be more "comic bookish" than in previous films. (This will be interesting)
--Neither Cyclops nor Marvel Girl will show up, but Cyke's brother Havoc will. (Awww)
--Kevin Bacon will play Sebastian Shaw and, yes, the Hellfire Club will figure into the mix. (Holy shit)
--Filming begins with Xavier at Oxford University.
--The movie will have a much more international feel than previous installments. (The shoot will take place in England and the U.S.) Other locations will include Russia (though they won't actually film there).
--There are other characters in the film who have not been revealed yet.

Filming begins this month.

Jeritron 08-20-2010 10:38 PM

...Yes.

Fignuts 08-21-2010 03:18 AM

That's really kind of stupid.

Jeritron 08-21-2010 03:45 AM

The Deadpool movie seems alright, since it can sort of be it's own thing and function outside of the X-Men tent, at least for casual audiences.
But Wolverine is inseperable from X-Men. People are going to be wondering what the fuck connection there is between these new X-Men movies, the old ones, and the Wolverine movies.
Especially if they introduce Wolverine in the new films.

Jeritron 08-21-2010 03:46 AM

I mean honestly, how long are they going to go in a new X-Men franchise without using Wolverine.

Funky Fly 08-21-2010 07:12 AM

Seems like a bunch of dijointed, unconncted projects. Like they're not trying to make a franchise at all.

Fignuts 08-21-2010 07:45 AM

Thank god for Avengers. Finally saw the Thor trailer, and it was fucking amazing. Destroyer is perfect perfect PERFECT. Can really tell the people working on it are genuine fans.

Only nitpicky thing for me so far is that as good an actor as Anthony Hopkins is, I don't really know if he will work as Odin. In the comics, he has a presence that makes Dr. Doom seem like a fuzzy kitten. Hopkins doesn't seem intimidating enough, at least from a visual standpoint.

Kalyx triaD 08-21-2010 11:00 AM

The last time people seen Doom on screen he was played by a sex-crazed surgeon.

Fignuts 08-21-2010 11:16 AM

I was talking about comics doom.

Kalyx triaD 08-21-2010 11:27 AM

I know. I was talking about movie Doom. The bulk of audience will probably dig Hannibal as Odin in some strange way.

I like him because for some reason he makes me think of Marlon Brando's Jor-El.

Fignuts 08-21-2010 11:30 AM

I'm sure people will like him. As I've said though, thor is my favorite book, so I can't help nit picking more than most.

Fignuts 08-21-2010 11:31 AM

Jor-El was a scientist though. Not the king of battle craving, warrior viking gods.

Nowhere Man 08-21-2010 11:33 AM

So wait, they're doing a movie about the first X-Men, without Cyclops or Jean Grey, the two most important people on the original X-Men lineup? That's fucking stupid.

I'm gonna assume the movie precedes the first team, or rather there's some reveal that there was an 'experimental' first team that disbanded or met some terrible end that will 'define Xavier and Lenshur's relationship'.
