Gran Torino - 8.5/10 Great movie, people knock the acting, but it wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be, and actually well acted in some parts.
|
Valkyrie - 3/5
Nothing special. But this is only a small part of Tom Cruise's return tour. He needs something bigger. In other news, I saw the X-Men Origins trailer. Looks crazy. |
Death Race 3.5/5
Baby Mama 3/5 |
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
7/10 As far as "fantasy" flicks go this was pretty entertaining. I don't really expect much given the subject matter, as I never read the books so I'm not going to nitpick if the movies stay true to form. Although it has a PG rating and is a Disney flick, I don't think it detracts from the story. |
The Wrestler
10/10 Really quality movie, and I don't even watch wrestling. |
Man on Wire - 6/10 - Pretty alright. I wanted it to be way better though. I mean it was pretty good but ehhhhhhhhhhhh. Way overrated imo.
Baghead - 9/10 - Wow I love this movie. Real low budget, shot on video, and was just awesome in every way possible. Mad un-pretentious and realistic. "Four struggling actors retreat to a cabin in Big Bear, California in order to write a screenplay that will make them all stars. Problem is: What happens when their story idea -- a horror flick about a group of friends tormented by a villain with a bag over his head -- starts to come true?" <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RHHdIXSNgyM&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RHHdIXSNgyM&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> |
Step Brothers - 7/10
Haven't gotten into the last few Will Ferrell comedies but this one had some pretty lol spots. |
Slumdog Millionaire - 5/5
Wonderful. Shed a tear or two at the end. |
JCVD - 7/10.
best movie he has ever done (ok that's not saying much) But it was a bloody good movie. |
Slumdog Millionaire - Just as good as everyone says. Seriously, great fucking movie.
|
Extras (season 1) 9/10 Hilarious
|
The Wrestler: 8.5/10. Really nails the business.
|
Seven Pounds 10/10
|
ghost in the shell 7/10
|
Benjamin Button - 6.5/10
The Wrestler - 8/10 |
Silent Hill 8/10
|
street fighter alpa 6/10
planet terror 5/10 |
The Wrestler - 10/10 (I'm a little bias to the subject matter)
|
I also love Mickey Rourke.
|
28 weeks later 5/10
|
Transsiberian 3/5
|
Valkyrie 3/5
|
Changeling - 8/10
A lot better than I thought it would be. I dunno what I was expecting tbh but it was real good. I dunno I don't wanna summarize right now. Ok? Get off my ass. |
Step Brothers
|
And The Wrestler before that.
|
Mrs. Brown - 3/5
|
The Strangers 8.5/10
|
Disturbia 0/10.
Realy fn horrible and boring. I want to give it .5 for being original, but I just can't. I think the acting is what made it horrible. Shia Lebeouf did a decent job, but the guy who was portraying the serial killer was horrible. They at least could have gotten someone better. |
The Wrestler 10/10
So good. Favorite movie of the year. |
Death Race 9/10 Awesome
|
Death Race was awesome. Just finished Mummy 3. A lot better than I expected. Didn't have subtitles though during the ching chang chong scenes.

Yeah, seriously. Disturbia is a great movie.
|
Alright, lets try again.
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer 6/10. Thought it could have used more action, but I enjoyed it even though I'm not a huge fan of comic book movies. |
Disturbia is 1/4th of a good movie.
The stuff with him really digging that girl while forced to stay in his house is really interesting stuff. If they ditched the murderer plot and ran with that, it would be awesome. |
Disturbia was better when it was called Rear Window.
But David Morse is the man. |
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Eh, pretty dissapointing, not a bad movie... but a missed oppurtunity for sure. Pitt was good, but the character of Button was flat, nothing felt particularly genuine, instead everything felt like scenes and scenarios from previous films. That being said, the film wasn't just three hours of tedium, on a technical level it's superb; I loved the cinematography, makeup, score etc. 7/10
|
Death Race
7/10 Actually was surprisingly good. Better than I expected, and actually really intense and attention grabbing through the whole thing. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - 10/10 Loved this movie. I'm probably biased because I love Brad Pitt as an actor, but this was a fantastic movie. Loved all 2 hours and 40 minutes of it. |
Bangkok Dangerous
|
Doubt - 4.9/5
Meryl Streep was awesome. Only thing holding it back from being perfect was that it was a tad too short. |
The Wrestler 11/10
|
Over past week seen a lot of great movies, and really recommend them all pretty much.
Doubt - 4/5 I agree with ClockShot that Meryl Streep was amazing. She def made the movie. At the same time it did feel a bit rushed towards the end. The Wrestler - 4/5 Was a great movie that you all should see, but at same time don't see it becoming one of my favorites anytime soon. Not sure why, but it just didn't hook me somehow the way I thought it would, dunno. Def amazing though. Frost/Nixon - 4.5/5 Really enjoyed this and think everyone should see it. This is the type of movie I could just watch over and over. It just hooks you into it. Curious Case of Benjamin Button - 3/5 I think part of it is I was preoccupied while watching it. It had its moments, but I wasn't overly blown away with it. It just seemed kind of meh in some ways, but in other ways I loved it. I'll have to rewatch it to get a proper feeling for it sometime. Gran Tarino - 4/5 Artistically, nothing special. Especially compared to everything else listed here. But in terms of entertainment, it certainly accomplished that for me. Parts were a bit too predictable, parts made me roll my eyes. But I still really went away enjoying this film. Lot of good one liners with it all. MILK - 4.5/5 Really enjoyed this movie too. With a lot of big name movies recently being released (in terms of Oscar worthy movies too), I feel this one may be overlooked by some of you. It is a good movie, moves along nicely and hooks you into it. Give it a try. |

Hey G, how about you actually -rate- the last movie you watched instead of just telling us what movie you watched.
|
you're forgetting to rate them G
|
lol, yeah what Req said
|
Nah, I do not want to hurt their feelings.
|
then make a thread that says "name the last movie you saw for the first time"
|
or make individual threads for the movies wher you just post "i saw this one" and leave
|
|
your red x offends me
|
Just realized the dude from The Wrestler looks like Dog The Bounty Hunter
|
The last few posts' lack of ratings - 2/10
|
Yeah, sgand's lack of rating nearly made my head split open right down the middle.
|
lol G
|
Saw IV & V - 7/10
Guess they were entertaining enough, much better films than the third installment. Not a lot of point scoring them seperately as they seem to have turned the franchise into a serial. |
No Country For Old Men - 6/10
|
Minghags - 8.5/10
The Wrestler - 9/10 Ghost Town - 8/10 Friday Night Lights - 8/10 Platoon - 8.5/10 |
The Shawshank Redemption - 9.5/10
One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest - 8.5/10 The Wrestler - 8/10 |
Resident Evil: Degeneration 6/10
Disappointing |
I don't know what you expected from it.
|
Something better obviously.
|
I dunno why expected that.
|
Atonement: 7/10

I thought it was better than some of the real movies.

Leon 7/10
|
Frost/Nixon - 9/10
Kinda dragged a little, but overall it was a very well done movie. |
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - 5/10 - So disappointing. Great premise and really well directed and stuff, but the story was just fucking shitty. It was dull and boring and there was nothing original about it whatsoever under the aging gimmick. And the movie was like 3 god damn hours long and I just felt like I wanted it to end already.
Hannah Takes the Stairs - 7/10 - Another low budget, shot on video movie. Dialogue mostly improv. I <3 these kinds of movies. |
WALL-E 10/10. Probably the best PIXAR movie ever, maybe next to Monsters Inc.
|

Yup. I have had The Puffy Chair on DVD since like last year but still haven't watched it for some reason. Baghead was amazing though if you haven't seen that yet.
And I just added a bunch of mumblecore movies earlier today to my Netflix queue. "Kissing on the Mouth", "Funny Ha Ha", "LOL", "Mutual Appreciation", "Dance Party, USA". |
Just requested Baghead from the library
|
Tropic Thunder 2/10 - Christ, Ben Stiller and Jack Black need to never ever do a movie together again.
|
I'm not a huge Ben Stiller or Jack Black fan but that film is nowhere near that bad. I wasn't expecting it to be much good, but I was pleasantly suprised. Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise are great. I'd be more like a 7/7.5
|
I wanted to stab someone in the face, I hated it.
|
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly - 8.5/10
Final scenes are amazing. |
God you're gay, FA.
|
Robocop - 8/10.
That Joe Cox guy (The guy with the high pitched laugh) is hilarious. |

So cool. Val Kilmer was the man in this movie. Sadly to say, look at him now.... :( |

Unforgiven - 8/10
Fucking awesome movie. God I love Morgan Freeman. |
Doubt - 10/10
Meryl Streep is fucking amazing. She is her character, completely and totally. It's insane and amazing and subtle and fun to watch - as much if not more so than Ledger's Joker. Seymour Hoffman is great as well, and Roger Deakins' work as DP is just beautiful. Go see this movie. |
Fight Club - 8/10
|
The Wrestler 9/10
Holy shit that was a good movie |
Knocked Up - 7/10
Decent film, not Apatow's best. Enjoyed the exchanges between Rudd and Rogen's characters and the arguments between the couples were realistic. Thank You for Smoking - 8/10 Enjoyed this. Great cast (Eckhart, William H Macy, J.K. Simmons, even Rob Lowe). Gotta love a bit of satire now and again. |
Lone Star State of Mind - 8/10
|
Million Dollar Baby - 8.5/10
Great movie, fucking depressing though. Gotta love Eastwood and Freeman. |
Million Dollar Baby is an easy 10/10 for me. Dunno if I rated it or not.
|
It was an amazing movie, with amazing acting.
|
Eastwood is one of my top 3 directors. He's so damn good, I dunno. Can't even put it to words.
