The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman - 6.999/10
Class of '92 - 17/10

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-13-2013 11:06 AM

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug 8/10

I liked it a lot more than the first film. Benedict Cumberbatch was pretty bad ass as the voice of Smaug, and Evangeline Lilly was pretty darn scrumptious as ever.

I also like that Legolas is not the same person as he is in the LOTR films.

Same here. The dragon really stole the show in the final moments of the movie.

8/10.

Could've been Tarantino's remake of Faster Pussycat and his ultimate wet dream for a grindhouse flick with BFF Robert Rodriguez. Twas good.

Sleeping Beauty 2011 - Don't expect Maleficient witch or prince charming in this one cos this one's more like a Kubrick-ish mind fuckery. 7/10,

Machete Kills 9/10 - It's slighty better than the 1st one.. Sofia's machine gun bra and the panty that shoots bullets when she does the humping dance move was just pure LOL gold. Lady Gaga was the saving grace of my movie despite
SPOILER: show
she got killed off in the 2nd half

Hard Candy 6/10

You mean he's not Orlando Bloom?

But seriously, what the hell do you mean?

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-15-2013 08:17 AM

I mean personality-wise. He's younger (obviously), more aggressive, a bit angrier; when compared to the Legolas of LOTR.

After completing the LOTR series, I am psyched for the release of the second Hobbit movie. I must add that I did not enjoy the first one. Has anyone watched the extended version?

I enjoyed all of the LotR Extended Editions (even if they made it freaking long), but The Hobbit Extended Edition really added nothing of value. Perhaps because of the fact that they have already extended one book into three movies. In fact, some of the stuff they added just served to break up the "flow" of the movie. I think maybe only some of the stuff in Rivendell was worth the re-add.

I think the theatrical edition is better, on the whole.

whiteyford 12-15-2013 02:26 PM

Kick Ass 2 8/10

Preferred the 1st one but still worth a watch.

Razzamajazz 12-16-2013 01:57 PM

end of watch 8/10

intense ending, plus anna kendrick

whiteyford 12-16-2013 02:11 PM

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - 9/10

Cumberbatch gave me a mark boner. Orlando Bloom was bad ass.

Impeccable 12-17-2013 04:40 AM

Watched the Desolation of Smaug at the weekend. A good 8/10 from me.

The scenes with the dialogue between Bilbo and Smaug were amazing.

Evangeline Lilly - OMG - I am in love all over again.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire 10/10

Yeah, I loved it. I loved the hell out of it. I want more. I became a fan of the series just a few weeks ago, I'm doing the movie first, book later type approach.

I hope to have a few on board to discuss the world that they portrayed.

It has some Final Fantasy feel to it as well.

Corporate CockSnogger 12-17-2013 11:24 AM

A lot of people have been saying that's pretty good. Thought the first one was absolute garbage though, personally, and that's put me off from pursuing any more of the series.

Corporate CockSnogger 12-17-2013 11:25 AM

Got "Blue Is the Warmest Colour" lined up to watch at some point this week. From what I understand, it's basically a 2.5 hour French porno. I did have a flick through to see how often boobies were on show and there was def a pretty full on sex scene that was about 25 minutes long.

I have the reading habits of a 15yo girl so I enjoyed the books, not got around to seeing the 2nd movie yet though, it's just a Battle Royale rip off though.

PapaGeorgio 12-17-2013 08:06 PM

If you didn't like the first one, I wouldn't recommend the next one. I really fucking love it, but different strokes for different folks. Don't think that'll be your type of series.

Lock Jaw 12-17-2013 10:44 PM

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug 8.5/10

Much better than the first outing. Feel like the series would have been much stronger if they somehow could manage to compress the first two movies into one (making it a two film series again).

A couple of notes: I would like to Fili Evangeline Lilly. I liked the addition of her and Legolas into the plot.

I got confused with Bard, because he looks exactly like Orlando Bloom in Pirates of the Carribean.

Smaug kind of sounded like Scar from the Lion King.

Also, I felt that the "Misty Mountain" song was sorely missing from the film's score. I thought it would become like The Fellowship Theme in LotR, that would reoccur in all the movies.

GD 12-18-2013 05:21 AM

Crystal Fairy and the Magical Cactus - 6/10

Guys! Guys! I call dibs on Evangeline Lilly.

Anchorman 2-Solid 8/10.

Anchorman 2 - 8/10

It's Will Ferrell. I loved it. Don't go with high expectations.

If I had to say something bad about the first one, it'd be the presence of Lenny Kravitz, his character was too secretive feeling. He ended up being a good lad.

I know it's based off something from that, but the way the movie is set with Final Fantasy type areas made me immersed.

Yeah, the second could be seen as the same with some M Night twists in it. Not really like that, but the structure of the two are awfully the same, but I was wanting that for some reason.

Blackfish: 7.5/10. Alternately fascinating and sad. I wish it was a little longer.

Dear Mr. Watterson: 6.5/10. Very little here for the already dedicated Calvin and Hobbes fan, but a good entry point for casual fans of the strip.

Don Jon: 9/10. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is so immensely talented. Scarlett Johansson remains the most physically enthralling woman on this planet, even as an over made up Jersey gutter rat. Far sweeter than you might think.

American Hustle: 8.5/10. The best ensemble cast on screen this year, and far funnier as a predominant drama than a lot of straight comedies.

GD 12-20-2013 05:11 AM

Blackfish - 10/10

I am never going to SeaWorld.

Krimzon7 12-20-2013 11:17 AM

Watched Don JOn....definitely my most WTF movie of 2013. 7/10
Watched How To Train Your Dragon. Loved this movie so much. 9/10

Best Man Holiday. Made me cry a lot. 9/10

Don Jon definitely caught me off guard. Scarlett Johansson is so much fun to look at. I wanted to See Her because I knew she was co starring. Then I found out that it was only Voice work...thought to myself fuck that.

I wonder exactly how big her male fan base is.

Don't think Tony Danza has gotten enough credit for how good he was in his role.

Also, JGL should get a lot of credit for pulling this movie off. They used the 'porn' hook to tell a pretty good story that was about personal growth, family, and finally love.

Might go watch this again right now. Never thought I'd say that about Don Jon.

The only bummer was when Brie Larson spoke for the first time and it didn't really mean anything.

Kris P Lettus 12-22-2013 06:37 PM

Seen both before but I got really blazed and watched Troll and C.H.U.D. last night and was very entertained by both

16/20

Kris P Lettus 12-23-2013 12:17 AM

Same deal as last night, I got blazed and watch twp older horror movies both of which I've seen before.

House-5/10 not near as scary as I remember as a kid and they missed out on alot of opportunities to make it amazing

The People Under the Stairs-9/10 I have loved this movie since I was a kid and it still holds up.

Better than I expected.
