Lol. Love how UFC fans are so full of themselves as to ask a contracted UFC fighter, who they are going to fork over good money to see fight, whether he is, indeed, a UFC fighter, then calls him out. It's hilarious. I wonder if the same guy would've asked Lesnar if he was afraid to fight him or tell him he's only "an entertainer".

Maluco 07-28-2015 11:48 AM

Guy is trying to get attention and laid the price for it. Not just talking about this situation though, but Punk always gets on like a bit of a dick, but never seems to get called out on it. Interview he gave after he got fired was a disgrace. Threw some decent guys who he worked with under the bus. Just seems like a really prickly guy, but he has me interested in his fight, so guess it works.

Cool King 07-28-2015 11:56 AM

Yeah, Punk does seem like a huge prick to me. He's the type of guy I think I would never get along with and never like.

But at the same time, he's really good at what he does, which is probably why I like him. Which is weird.

Think he was just really upset about his work environment. I'm of the mind that I'm a decent enough person and I can assure you I've thrown people under the bus after leaving a tumultuous place of employment.

Punk justseems like the type of guy who has patience or takes people shit. It does come off as being a dick but have we ever really seen him in an environment where he's not being baited or asked to be a dick, ala the video above?

"You remember Brock Lesnar of WWE? He came out and somebody cheap-shotted [quarterback] Daunte Culpepper's leg, and Brock was like "WHO DID IT?". The next play he went and suplexed the guy...he picked up a grown man after the play, and then it was the Royal Rumble: Minnesota vs. Kansas City.. that was a nasty suplex on the football field."

We noted last week that the Hulk Hogan scandal has caused WWE Studios' to remove a Hogan scene from the Celebrity Death Pool movie that stars David Hasselhoff and Ken Jeong. PWInsider reports that a piece of Hogan material was also in the upcoming WWE - Scooby Doo animated movie. Hogan was set to appear in scenes alongside an animated Dusty Rhodes and those will obviously have to be edited now. Hopefully they can just replace Hogan and not have to nix the Dusty scene altogether. Regarding the Hogan scene in Celebrity Death Pool, apparently it was the opening sequence of the movie so it will definitely have to be re-done.

We noted how Amell will likely be appearing at an upcoming WWE event, possibly the August 10th RAW from Everett, Washington. Speculation is that Amell and Neville may take on Stardust and The Miz in some sort of match.

I can understand the signs, but making fans change T-shirts?

I'm suddenly reminded of four years ago when the WWE were complaining about the officials at the polling stations that were asking the people that showed up to vote, to change the WWE T-shirts they were wearing.

Does anyone here want to buy Kane's house?

It'll only cost you $800,000.

Quote:

Chokeslam! WWE’s Kane Tells Us Why He’s Selling His Tennessee Estate

What kind of home would a WWE superstar build? Well in the case of Kane, it’s a charming three-bedroom contemporary in the hills of Jefferson City, TN.

Born Glenn Jacobs, the popular heel had the home custom-built in 2005 for his family. The immense grappler is parting with his beloved 78-acre estate for $800,000, although he wishes he didn’t have to put it down for the three-count.

“Every time I go there I’m, like, ‘Man, I don’t want to sell this place,’” Jacobs says. “It’s so nice and private.”

The 6,924-square-foot home sits on a hill at the end of a quarter-mile-long driveway that climbs about 250 feet to the hilltop, Jacobs estimates. The home, which features a koi pond and swimming pool, is surrounded by private woods with trails for biking, four-wheeling, and horseback riding.

The Devil’s Favorite Demon has earthbound roots in these hills. Jacobs says he first came to Tennessee about 20 years ago while wrestling in Knoxville. During that time he met and married his wife, Crystal, a Tennessee native, and the couple began their life together in Johnson City.

The house is spacious—not a surprise given the wrestler’s (possibly 7-foot) stature. However, Jacobs says the countertops and door frames weren’t raised to accommodate him, so it’s a turnkey operation for the eventual buyer.

The master suite features a massive bathroom with dual vanity sinks and custom wood cabinetry. There’s also a huge garden tub in a windowed tower overlooking the hills. You can soothe your bones in style after being on the receiving end of a piledriver.

http://www.realtor.com/wp-content/up...7/Kane-tub.jpg
The huge garden tub with sky-high views

The downstairs is where the current WWE director of operations truly asserts his authority. The finished basement features a game room where Jacobs has a poker table, foosball table, pool table, and wet bar to help him relax when he’s not engaged in local community events, attending to family duties, or defending current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

Defending Rollins isn’t easy—on “WWE Raw,” Jacobs recently suffered a foot injury at the hands of Brock Lesnar, so he’ll have some welcome time off—a luxury many pro wrestlers don’t enjoy.

When not in the ring, Jacobs must keep in shape to ensure his chokeslams stay lethal. So the former title belt holder built a detached 2,400-square-foot garage that doubles as a full-blown gym. Back in the day, Jacobs, 47, could bench press 525 pounds, although he says he’s now less focused on “lifting heavy.”

As with most things in real estate, the gym equipment is “negotiable” in the sale. Jacobs says he’ll miss the gym for his early morning workouts.

“I work out five to six times a week,” Jacobs says. “When the sun comes up on the left-hand side, the hills are backlit purple—it’s gorgeous.” During the winter, Jacobs says you can see the twinkling lights of ski resorts an hour away in Gatlinburg.

So why does fearsome Kane want to leave his beloved stomping ground? He and his wife own an Allstate insurance agency in Knoxville (yes—Kane also sells insurance), and the hourlong commute over the past few years has been a headache, so they’re relocating.

“If circumstances were different, we’d stay here for the rest of our lives,” Jacobs says. “But you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men.”

Of course we do. And even if we didn’t, we wouldn’t argue with him. So, if you want to live like a WWE superstar, give listing agent Holli McCray a call.

I just find the whole corp aspect of it to be f***in pussiefied these days; it's obvious why they sank so low in popularity compared to the late 90's and early 00's. They wanted us to do WM32 next year but f*** that. We want to do NJPW. We'd love to head over to Japan. We're still wrestling fans. Not WWE fans."

Pennsylvania Grand Jury Decision Imminent in 1983 Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka Homicide Investigation

A final disposition is expected this week in the 18-month-old reexamination by the Lehigh County (Pennsylvania) Seventh Investigating Grand Jury of the 32-year-old mysterious death of Nancy Argentino in the hotel room of WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka.

Following 30th anniversary coverage of the controversial 1983 episode by the Allentown Morning Call — in turn was spurred by Concussion Inc.’s coverage, including in a chapter of my 2007 book Wrestling Babylon — county district attorney James Martin referred the dormant homicide file to the grand jury. Martin has told Nancy Argentino’s surviving family members that he will inform them of the grand jury’s decision by the expiration of its term (now set for the end of July after the court last year granted a six-month extension).

The Argentino sisters’ ebook through Concussion Inc., JUSTICE DENIED: The Untold Story of Nancy Argentino’s Death in Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka’s Hotel Room, has benefited charities associated with Nancy’s memory. The family now donates 100 percent of the ebook proceeds to Salerno, Italy, church Centro Evangelical dei Fratelli, which is developing a shelter for battered women,, among many other programs under its “Project Avalanche” umbrella.

In general, an independent contractor or freelancer is a worker who runs their own business but is hired by others for specific purposes and projects. But a growing number of employers have been using the independent contractor label on what had long been considered employees, often with the goal of shedding the cost of contributing to insurance and retirement benefits. A new piece of legislation seeks to make sure that businesses aren’t mislabeling employees as contractors.

he Payroll Fraud Prevention Act of 2015 [PDF], introduced by Sen. Robert Casey of Pennsylvania and Sen. Al Franken of Minnesota, would amend the Fair Labor Standards Act to require that workers understand whether they are being classified as an employee or a non-employee contractor, and what the implications are for non-employees in terms of benefits, and legal protections generally afforded to employees.
New bill under consideration from Congress that would have a huge effect in the WWE if it gets passed. WWE would no longer be able to get away with the independent contractor excuse they do with their roster or have sole power over a contract.

I would be interested in that.

I only ever use the WWE Network for the latest PPV's. I thought I would use the Network much more but that doesn't appear to be the case for some reason.

So if I had the chance to pay £5.00 a month, that would actually work perfectly for me.

WWE reportedly had plans at one point for Brock Lesnar to be a gay character in their storylines.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE was considering the idea of debuting a gay character in 2002 that would be a tough guy who outs himself as being guy, but would do none of the stereotypes and would be portrayed as a kick-ass main eventer. The idea was for the person to be Lesnar when he made his debut that year.

Originally, the idea came from two of WWE's magazine writers, one of whom was Brian Solomon. Solomon pitched the idea directly to Stephanie McMahon that year, with the pitch being that it would blow fans away to see an unstoppable hyper-masculine bad ass revealing himself to be gay, and be pushed as a top babyface. WWE felt that they would get huge support from the gay community, as well as positive support from the media for having a "progressive character."

The people who originally pitched the idea never heard another word about it and didn't know until recently that the idea actually made it to the writers room. The idea ended up being shot down by older agents in the company who thought it was a terrible idea, and it ended up leading to the Billy and Chuck thing.
Quote:

Former WWE creative member Seth Mates spoke out on the situation, saying that anyone in the company could pitch ideas and were welcome to do so. He noted that such a pitch was made, but it wasn't necessarily on the table to happen.

Mates also said that some of the details from the Observer report, such as Solomon's name, as well as when it was done weren't correct.
While he stated anyone could pitch ideas, he did confirm Gay Lesnar was an idea being pitched.

Quote:

WWE has apparently shifted direction in terms of Lana being the female superstar of the company. Moving forward she will now just being another character on the show. The new idea is to find a Latin female star for the company, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

WWE is seeking sex appeal and Spanish speaking skills for someone who can be the front and center to expanding the Latin audience. The company has started to seek out Latin female weather reporters in Mexico who are chosen for looks. Melissa Santos, who is under contract with Lucha Underground, is ideal for someone who they are looking to put in this position. If Lucha Underground doesn't have a second season, she would be available for this role.

The numbers were the highest for Impact since the June 24th episode brought in 369,000 and a 0.12 demo rating. The midnight replay garnered 64,000 viewers and a 0.02 rating, down 10% and even with last week’s 71,000 and 0.02.

As for Ring of Honor, in its new single airing at 11 PM the show brought in 171,000 viewers and a 0.04 demo rating. These numbers are up 36% and double from last week’s 126,000 viewers and 0.02 in the same time slot. They’re also significantly up from the 139,000 and 0.02 demo rating from the 8 PM timeslot last week, although this isn’t a good comparison since obviously last week had two time period options to watch. The fact that the demo rating was equal to both of last week’s airings combined is certainly a good sign though.

According to Cageside Seats, Destination America plans to remove both promotions by the end of the year because they want to move away from pro-wrestling.

This is clearly a big blow to both promotions, one of which has only had a small amount of time to really prove anything to the network. It does make sense, however, as they were hoping to see much higher numbers than what they are getting. However, this was expected by many pro-wrestling purists, as neither TNA nor ROH were capable of bringing in the kind of fans that a WWE is able to do on a normal basis.

Brock Lesnar has been announced for the October 3rd WWE live event from Madison Square Garden in New York City. No word yet on who he will be facing, but Paul Heyman will also be there.

This will be Lesnar's first domestic WWE live event since returning to the company in 2012.

The following was also announced for the show:
* John Cena vs. Seth Rollins
* Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev
* Sheamus vs. Randy Orton
* Appearances by Chris Jericho and the WWE Divas

Rest of the sheets is from WWE's investor's meeting they had today:
Quote:

According to WWE's earnings report filed this morning, they have 1.156 million paid WWE Network subscribers as of June 30th, 2015. This is down from the 1.327 million they announced the day after WrestleMania 31. WWE noted that from launch through June 30th, the Network has attracted more than 2 million unique subscribers with approximately 61% of those still active ...

WWE would not release info or answer questions regarding subscribers who had signed up for free months during the period and the retention rate, but the end of the quarter numbers show that, as expected, the people taking advantage of free subs are way down since it became a regular thing.
Still under a million subs for the US and under 300,000 for rest of the world. Current goal is to reach 1.2 million as a stable number by the end of the year. They need a stable 1.3-1.4 million in order to be profitable with the Network.
