But how's Scarlet Johanson gonna play two characters in the MCU?
|
I think Shang Chi is bc of how badly Iron Fist was received by the General Public, so they want a character of Asian descent the GP isn't disillusioned with. Could possibly be an Iron Fist film w/ the character going by the name Shang Chi instead tbh.

He’s playing on the controversy over Johanson being cast in Ghost In The Shell.
|
Heard a rumour there will be a new Captain Marvel trailer released tonight, and Avengers 4 trailer will drop Wednesday.
|
I know nothing about Ghost in the Shell, but I take it the protagonist is supposed to be Asian?
|
Yep
|
No she's not. Fuck off.
|
Shes 100% not asian
|
Motoko Kusanagi is too Asian
|
An Asian Robot but Asian
|
No, you fuck, she’s an Asian woman whose consciousness is inside an artificial body. In the manga it is Caucasian, and plays into the identity crisis the character experiences.
For the anime it’s not specifically stated in the show or movie, but you anyone with functioning eyes can see the character is drawn as Caucasian while Asians are drawn with Asian features. Also, the director outright says the body is not Asian. |

Silk youre very very wrong
|
oh well!
it happens |
What is infuriating is that so many people are so very very wrong. They’ll go on patting themselves on the back, thinking they “stood up to injustice”. And then they will continue to attack perceived social and cultural crimes without doing any research at all into anything.
|
So if the robot was caucasian in the anime, why was there outrage because of casting Scarlett?
|
I mean, she is pretty boring and always looks like she's about to fall asleep, but oter than that they chose ok.

The whole debacle was a perfect example of what’s wrong with society. People taking up a cause just for the sake of it. Because it’s the popular thing to do. Not because they actually care. If they really cared they would actually investigate into the subject. But they don’t. They just want more likes on twitter. |
I really don't like race-swapping in movies, but sometimes it works.
Still think casting Idris Elba as Heimdall was a dumb idea, but he's a good actor and delivered. |
Has it been talked about that Jake Gylenhall is going to be Mysterio? Gylenhall is fucking fantastic!
|
Yeah he was spotted on set months ago in a blurry pic wearing the Mysterio get-up (not with the fish bowl).
|
I’m really looking forward to it. Given the nature of Mysterio’s abilities there’s a lot you can do with that visually and creatively. Limited only by imagination really.

So I guess cyclops is back, but it’s Jim lee era cyclops?
Because boy howdy, that sure is an interesting character. I can’t wait! |

Well let's see if they can integrate in Phase 4. Should be interesting seeing how they integrate mutants this late in the game.
Also DOOM. |
While Doom is possibly cool, I was always dreading this.
Part of the reason why the MCU got better was because X-Men was initially killing it. The rights separations meant allowances and substitutions had to be made and better storytelling had to shore up some of those holes and alterations. Yeah, there is all kind of love for Black Panther - time and place in history and whatnot - but do you *really* think there would have been a feature film if they didn't have to dig that far down the well of not being able to use mutants or the Fantastic Four? It took a few iterations of Hulk movies to get the one we have now, and if the pissing match weren't happining and everyting were in one house, BP would likely would have been replaced by either a new attempt at Hulk or another Iron Man move that the studio could hump until the comic movie bubble burst. I fear a "Mortal Kombat: Anhilliation" future. Shoving in everyone just for the sake of "look, we have them all now!!!" and the need for well crafted stories diminishing because everyone is back in one place and it's no longer a theatrical arms race of sorts. Shit's going to get worse in the effort department simply for the pants creaming that will come from the first time everyone is able to see Wolverine, Deadpool, and Spider-Man show up in a MCU movie. Yoda's couple minute ass kicking spree didn't make up for the three lackluster prequels to me, and the potential of having a moment or two doesn't make me feel better about the future of the franchises going forward. Once the ink is dry, feels like the only thing left to do is Secret Wars. It's another form of WWE buying WCW. It can't last forever, but this speeds up the inevitable. |
I don't see that at all. If anything, the pressure is going to be on Marvel Studios to deliver due to both their own success, and the troubled past of these fox franchises. People are going to be expecting the best X-men and Fantastic Four movies ever, and Marvel Studios knows it.
|
Kinda saddens me that there's always talk/rumors etc of guys like Chris Evans and Robert Downey being done etc. I don't want any of these characters to miss out on interactions with MCU X-Men or Fantastic Four.

Yeah that wasn't....bad but RDJ and Evans do a lot of their own stunts and it's wearing on 'em.
Besides, I kinda trust Marvel's casting department to know what they're doing. |
Cap, Stark, and Thor will almost certainly carry on as mentirs or some such. If any of em don't die, but it's just more likely their sub-series are done at three movies and they'll only suit up for supporting roles or big crossover movies.
On what Tom said, I'm with Fig that Marvel Studios knows better than to coast on sheer volume of characters. I mean we're totally getting Secret Wars now, but other than that they'll still experiment with lesser knowns. Especially since the two big acquisitions are teams, so we're looking at two new sub-series max. That's IF they don't mix and match or send characters to Disney+. |
The de-aging tech got way better since X3 but that's moot since Evans and RDJ look perfectly fine. MCU also progresses in real time so if they look older, okay.

I can't understand this fear after 20 films of very consistent calibre and the way the whole universe has been interlinked and expanded so beautifully. At this stage Marvel Studio is at the top of their game, all I can do is trust them. |
They could announce Taskmaster on Disney+ and I just know it'd be awesome. Their only real failure was Inhumans.
|
And even Inhumans wasn't as bad as even the worst critics say. It was just bland.
|
Add a "Lady Sif" show to the Disney+ multitude of MCU shows.....
