That and when he nearly won the Royal Rumble.

#1-norm-fan 07-06-2014 08:49 PM

I'll say it... Santino would have drawn as champion. Fuck the "comedy character" stigma. He's entertaining enough to draw in a new crowd who doesn't take wrestling super seriously and he's got the skills to look like he can destroy someone in the ring.

I have a question, but so I don't ruin the video for everyone:

SPOILER: show
Does anyone know what that noise is when Shawn Michaels comes out? (3:42)

It sounds like a fire alarm or some kind of submarine.

I thought the WWE would have edited it out, as they've got the skilled monkeys that can do that, but every time they show that clip, the noise is still there.

they fired editors due to budget cuts now they are looking for actual monkeys to do the editing...

That really sucks. I grew tired of his character years ago, but not being able to retire on your own terms is always a really shitty situation. I imagine he'll continue to be on TV in comedy skits for years to come.</font>

:-\

In terms of comedy wrestlers, could make the argument of him being their best ever one.

James Steele 07-06-2014 09:24 PM

It sounds like some kind of feedback from a mic or speaker or something.

He might as well have announced Emma's retirement as well.

Ambrose reminds me of CM Punk. He just gets it, and does all the little things that really get you to buy into the character and sucked into their matches to the point you get that suspension of disbelief that is so hard to get nowadays.

I agree. Irrespective of whether he is a heel or a face, he remains true to his character and doesn't pander to the crowd.

James Steele 07-07-2014 03:02 AM

I can't picture CM Punk not being a smug yet principled prick, and I can't picture Dean Ambrose not being an unstable, intense, and violent individual whose moral code trumps all else.

James Steele 07-07-2014 03:05 AM

Simple characters for all fans to understand, but they have a complexity that rewards viewers that pay closer attention and focus on the finer details and evolution of the character and how they interact specifically with other characters.

The artwork looks amazing, but it's just a shame the game was cancelled. I remember seeing a trailer for the game and it actually looked quite interesting. It's a long shot, but I would love it if 2K picked up the game and continued on with it where THQ left it, but I really don't see 2K doing that.

I get the feeling that 2K will only ever make WWE games for the main series and not do what THQ did, where they experimented with different art styles and game genres, like what they did with Crush Hour, All Stars, Brawl and so on.

yeah for real. And nah, first time they ever teamed together was when the FCP guys ran a weekender at the Civic called "Indypendence Day" in like 07/08 (ft. Danielson/Bryan, Black/Rollins, Generico/Zayn, Aries, Doug, McGuinness etc plus other indy names as well as UK guys including Spud)

when they started teaming "properly" in ROH later that year they needed a name and used "Wolves" as an homage to where they first teamed together/Wolverhampton/WWFC

Corporate CockSnogger 07-07-2014 03:56 PM

Should've called themselves the Yam Yams.

CSL 07-07-2014 04:05 PM

yah, replace the wolf noise at the start of their entrance song with some gravelly black lunged grandma saying "ew'm yow doo-win ahh cocka?"

Then they should put her in some non-wrestling segments. Maybe let her stand in someone's corner. Just don't put her in the ring to wrestle. Holy fuck, she makes a Great Khali match look believable.

Seth82 07-08-2014 03:46 AM

WCW thought it was a good idea to invite the Hells Angels to Nitro back in '99.

heh

He's got the power of the winged eagle belt though, and that power alone would make any mere mortal unstoppable...let alone "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan and the "Hulkamania" flowing through his veins.
