So TLC is apparently going to be in Baltimore instead of Philadelphia.

Fucking hell I wanted to go, too.

Xero 06-25-2011 05:54 PM

Yeah, heard that.

Meh, for the best for me. I was between TLC and Elimination Chamber anyway. Was leaning towards Elimination Chamber, but now it's solidified.

Innovator 06-25-2011 06:35 PM

Little known fact (that will only interest Brit-wres, ROH/CZW/TNA fans/about 4 people): Johnny Storm is one of the kids 'interviewed' in the 'foyer'/fan access gimmick about who's going to win at WM X/can also be seen on The True Story of Mania DVD

Xero 06-25-2011 07:05 PM

Little known fact that I haven't really looked into: Xero can only be seen on camera on two WWE shows, despite being at 15 WWE PPVs.

Actually, they should. It'd be fucking amazing.

Punk wins, but the MitB winner comes out and challenges him.

That winner is still tired from MitB, and ends up being the first person to cash it in and lose.

They're the outcast of the Raw lockerroom because they could have stopped Punk, and they failed miserably.

It could be an amazing angle, leading up to a rematch with Punk. It'd be golden.

screech 06-26-2011 06:02 PM

I love that idea.

Emperor Smeat 06-26-2011 06:57 PM

Normally that would sound like a very dumb move for the MitB person to do but at the same time Punk has the most experience involving the case. He knows exactly what the challenger is thinking and also knows the person is going to be sloppy trying to rush a surprise win.

All Punk needs is to make the person create a mistake then counter in a GTS or roll-up pin.

Everyone who's cashed in the case always tries for a finisher as their first move and Miz almost caught an RKO but reacted fast enough to counter it.

That, or imagine if the bell rings and Punk just blasts the guy with a kick between the legs.

I'm just loving the idea of happy go lucky, fan favorite Kofi being hated by the Raw locker room and becoming bitter and focused on somehow trying to make things right by getting the belt away from Punk who has "left."

Hell, have Punk leave, take his "few months off", and have them force a title tourny. No one wants Kofi in it obviously, but he gets in. Tournament lasts a few months. Last match of the tourny for the new title could be like Kofi vs Del Rio, Kofi wins, but right before the ref hands him the belt, CM Punk returns, announcing he's back and still the world champion, taking Kofi's dream away again.

I need to book.

Kinda starts off at the RTC, but it's up and down until Tazz and Spike, and it's pretty much downhill from there.

Emperor Smeat 06-27-2011 12:15 AM

Had to google when Flair held the tag belt since I couldn't remember when it occurred or who was even next to him before Rated RKO held the belts.

Didn't realize the person next to him was Piper and that it was won at one of the Cyber Sunday PPVs.

Spirit Squad declined badly after loosing the titles and later becoming a joke of a stable against DX.

  • Seven years ago today I won the WWE Championship from my dear friend Eddie Guerrero in a Bull Rope Match in Norfolk, Virginia. Bull rope matches can be terrible because you are so limited-I had hundreds over my career and some were pretty bad! This one went well.

The finish went perfect with Eddie squashing me in the corner and unknowingly causing me to win. Eddie had lost a tremendous amount of blood at the first match we had in the Staples Center a month before. So, we had to be careful with Eddie because he was still having problems from this. However, Eddie-as he always did-rose to the occasion and carried me through another title match.

I could never have had the run I had without the “feud” with Eddie. We had near riots in the southwest when we wrestled, including the best when I needed a police escort out of El Paso.

The idea for Eddie’s mom to have a heart attack on mother’s day was all Eddie’s. No one saw it coming. Eddie had been busted open that day by an errant fist-as had I, I think mine was called a “receipt”, ha. All this added to the drama.

The lead up to this should have been filmed. Eddie, Chavo Sr and I were sitting in a dressing room thinking up this idea when Chavo, jokingly, said that Mrs Guerrero should take a big boot from me. Eddie got mad that Chavo would even joke about it, so Chavo took it one further. Chavo then said that Mrs Guerrero should pack a blade and juice! Eddie and Chavo almost got into a fight over this, it was hilarious.

Needless to say when working with Guerreros it went perfect. Eddie’s mom went down and I was holding her-though making it look like I was threatening her-and it looked so real the crowd went completely silent-I mean completely silent, it was eerie.
After the match Eddie had given his mother flowers-this was their hometown and the Guerrero name is like the Von Erichs in Dallas or Funks in Amarillo. When I hit the ring and Vicki and her daughters started crying and Mrs Guerrero went down and the EMTs came it started to get very real.

Eddie is on the canvas yelling orders for me to leave before the riot happens. However, having been in a couple of riots before I knew the one thing I could not do was turn my back on the audience, that’s when bad things happen. So I backed out of the arena as fast as I could without seeming like I was hurrying. Security was yelling at me to leave, they knew how serious this had become.

We had my car packed and the state police ready to escort me out of town, which they did. If I would have stayed I would have probably been killed. Eddie actually pulled a few friends aside and smartened them up before hand so they wouldn’t get carried away.

The police took me all the way out of town. We got out of there so quick no one knew we were gone. I then pulled over and thanked them and they went back to El Paso and I had to drive to Odessa to fly out.

I had been busted open underneath the eye and was bleeding badly by this point-I am also in only my trunks and boots. All my clothes are in the trunk-we got out of there in such a hurry that our only concern was a quick exit not my clothes.

I see a border check point guard ahead on I-20. I am horrified. The cop pulls me over and sees this guy in trunks, no shirt and blood on his face!! I wish I had this on camera. I tried to explain and he finally let me go with the instruction to at least put on a shirt-hey, I was in decent shape then-it wasn’t so bad!

Very few thought we could handle a main event. We ended up setting an attendance record in Staples Center in a couple of weeks and sold out arenas everywhere off this feud.

Eddie hated being a baby face, he was always giving me ideas of what to say. I could never have done this character with someone other than Eddie. I cleared everything I was going to say with Eddie first and most of the time Eddie would come up with something much better.

We had a fan jump in the ring in one match and little Hebner took the guy out-fast. However, I was wrestling Eddie for real because Eddie wanted a piece of the guy! I was telling Eddie let me have him since I am the heel-thankfully Little Hebner had punted this guy into next week and security had taken him out.

Probably the most fun time in my career, though I had a lot of fun times and worked with great people. I am sitting on an island right now retired about to go play golf because of Eddie-I only wish he were her to enjoy it with me.

He always called me “essie” but I can’t even spell it so I’ll just say thanks Eddie!! I love you!

It's WWE. It's also Smackdown and last I checked, Smackdown has barely 30 "active" superstars/divas. Considering maybe 10 are on tv weekly (Orton, Christian, Zeke, Wade, Henry, Sheamus, Cody, Ted, Bryan, and Cara) I could see WWE making a Cole/Booker feud a go.

In all seriousness, a match between these 2 should either be held via a Ladder Match or a Falls Count Anywhere match.

Punk wins the belt, celebrates to an extent, antagonizes the crowd, the announcers play up the "Omg what just happened" card and then Kofi's music hits. He cashes it in, they have about a 5 minute match, some type of reversal, SOS, Kofi new WWE Champ.

Or, Punk is celebrating with Nexus, they helped with a distraction for him to go over Cena. They're standing at the top of the ramp when Kofis music hits. They all wait for him while Punk is in the ring, facing the entrance. Kofi comes through the crowd, gets in the ring, the bell rings. Punk turns around to see why the bell rang, Trouble In Paradise, 1-2-3, Kofi wins. This is feasible, and I'd mark out like a whore. It sets up Punks return in a few months to feud with Kofi like he's been wanting too, and the feud will build Kofi up for his second run.

At least, thats how I hope it plays out. *retreats*

They should hire us. Fire the rest.

I've heard a bit about this lawsuit but never on what actually started it.

I know Flair owes that place money but is it do to him no showing some event or he was given a bunch of stuff meant for him to return with autographs or some other unrelated thing?

CSL 06-27-2011 05:55 PM

the story goes that Flair loaned money from Highspots and was to pay it back/make restitution via appearances/signings. That didn't happen and they kept his NWA title as collateral as well as chasing the money up in court. Or something like that.

Emperor Smeat 06-27-2011 06:02 PM

So basically another case of Flair being really bad with money and not caring about getting his stuff back even though it would have been much cheaper in the long run to just appear and sign some stuff than having to pay the loan, interest or extra penalties, and any court costs.

CSL 06-27-2011 06:12 PM

the bad with money part for sure, I think he claims he fulfilled his dates and that the belt was never part of the loan as well as other stuff

CSL 06-27-2011 06:13 PM

oh actually, it's all been settled by the looks of it:

Quote:

On Saturday, Highspots posted the following message on their Facebook page:

"Letting our own social media get the scoop, we have FINALLY been paid by Ric Flair for the debt dating back years ago. No jail time for Naitch. Whichever Angel pitched in the $ for him THANK YOU."

Flair had until today to pay, so he cut it pretty close. Now, this long, fascinating chapter in wrestling history is largely over. For a point by point history of how all this went down, you can check out my post from a month ago when Flair was first charged with contempt of court. The interview that Highspots owner Michael Bochicchio gave a few weeks ago is also worth devoting some time to.

Meanwhile, there is still a little bit more to the story. Bochicchio is planning on writing a book about the whole ordeal. It was first reported that the book would be called "Memoirs of a Money Mark" and be more about his own experiences, but he later posted a Facebook comment saying that "Its not going to be a book about my specific issue per se but about why he was pushed into the retirement match and the choices that were made for the next several years that led to this point. Its my opinion that unless WWE steps in and gives him a lucrative lifetime parachute deal like they offered Shawn Michaels, this thing will continue to spiral downward and this story is headed for an incredibly sad ending."

As far as ROH's lawsuit against Flair (for not refunding the $5,000 per show deposits for shows he cancelled), it's still pending but there have been rumblings that it'll disappear. Since Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. has purchased the company, the money is less vital to their survival.
