You just made a thread about how something WWE did was fake and scripted.

See the problem?

WWE has never had a competition or something up to vote where it wasn't rigged in a way.

I'd be more concerned about their habit of hiring almost everyone from a contest which makes winning the thing a bit moot if everyone else wins in the end. The Divas Searches were the worst examples of this since WWE ended up hiring almost everyone each season and making the supposed contest seem like a "waste" of time.

Of course Tough Enough and pretty much all reality shows are in a way "rigged". A good example of this that always used is The Real World. Their first season had a fat chick, and a loner guy, a slob, now everyones drunk, perfect body and bisexual. How M-Dogg 20 was the second person cut (or was there to start with) is beyond me.

Fuck, can't believe Lucky Cannon was eliminated from NXT. He was the best thing (other than Maryse) about NXT this season. It has to do with it coming out that he was arrested for impersonating a police officer. Totally wouldn't be surprised to see him get released in a couple of days.

Who cares if it was rigged? There we no spoilers out and no one knew who the winner was going to be besides for the WWE (And who knows if they were 100% sold). Basically, it does not matter because everyone was up in the air for everyone watching at home.

This.

Again, we all know wrestling is scripted. I enjoy being a smartass as much as the next guy, but to keep ignoring the intent behind the statment to belittle the statement itself is just stupid.

It seems like an expensive effort in both time and money to promote something that, in the end, doesn't matter. I am going to use NXT as an example again. If the intent is to call up ALL of the best performers you think can make it to the next level, why even bother presenting it as a competition where "only one can win", then we see 5 of the losers on SmackDown the next week while the "winner" gets Superstars duty and/or "future endeavored"?

There is no logic in this, even in the world of wrestling, even to the casual fans with short term memories. They're asking the viewer to suspend belief, which is the nature of the beast itseklf. They're putting it over as some grand concept of drama, and give you the parameters in which they want you to accept the show, then afterwards, they say "all that shit about this being a one-winner contest? We made that shit up!" Use that creative energy you wasted putting together a season of Topugh Enough to give guys that are ALREADY ON THE ROSTER something to do. Use the timeslot for another hour of RAW. Make a show centered around a cruiserwieght title. Something. Just don't say "Here, you should care about this!" and when it's over, treat the audience like they wasted their time caring about it.

Tom Guycott 06-16-2011 11:52 PM

Better example. Let's say R-Truth wins the title. he has a long, drawn out chanse where John Cena just can't win it back. 6 months of nearfalls, stipulations, run ins, and intertwining angles later, he FINALLY wins the title back on PPV. Then, instead of celebrating, he immediately cuts a promo saying "You know what, folks? This belt doesn't matter. It's fake and scripted, and I don't give a crap about it." And drops it on the ground and walks off. Now please, don't take this opportunity to turn this into an anti-Cena thing. I just sued those two because they're the RAW main event picture right now.

I'm just saying that in this world that is wrestling, a World Title in general is the be all, end all, and then suddenly, you're being told by the new champion that it doesn't mean anything. And not in that Shane Douglas "I'd rather defend THIS title" way. The whole angle waste and you've just been told this in no uncertain terms.

This is kind of the same idea. IT'S NOT THAT IT'S SCRIPTED. WE GET THAT. THAT'S GIVEN. MOVE BEYOND THAT STATEMENT.

Shane is really turning into Vince.

Article, from http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/ente...s-own-man.html:

Shane McMahon has never been afraid to knock on doors.

When he was just 5, his dad -- wrestling impresario and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon -- put him to work going from barber shop to barber shop asking if he could hang up fliers and posters for upcoming matches.

Years later, McMahon was still selling for his dad. Only this time around the doors he was knocking on were in Eastern Europe and China. As the WWE's executive vice president of global media, the younger McMahon was instrumental in getting WWE content and events in almost 150 countries.

Image1 Now McMahon, 41, is trying to do for Hollywood what he did for the WWE. Earlier this week his company You on Demand formed a partnership with Warner Bros. to get the entertainment giant's content into China via pay-per-view and video-on-demand cable platforms. You on Demand has access to homes in China through a 20-year pact with China Home Cinema, the pay-television arm of that country's CCTV-6 network. Cable operators can deliver the content into homes. You on Demand has said it expects to have as many as 3 million subscribers this summer.

China, with a population of 1.3 billion, has become a priority for Hollywood. The Motion Picture Assn. of America is trying to get the Chinese government to ease up on its restrictions on foreign films and double the current quota to as many as 40.

In the meantime, Hollywood is trying to find other avenues into China. Earlier this month, Legendary Pictures, a Burbank company that co-financed "The Hangover" and "The Dark Knight," unveiled a joint venture with a Chinese entertainment conglomerate to make English-language films in China that would be exported around the world. Cable represents another window into the market and Warner Bros. will make current as well as older product available through You on Demand.

Up until a few years ago, McMahon was content toiling for his father at WWE. He had been working there professionally since graduating from Boston University -- holding positions in marketing, sales, promotion and production. He even reffed some matches and got in the ring every now and then as "Shane-O-Mac."

Rising high up the executive ranks, McMahon was seen as a potential successor to his father. There was only one problem. "He wasn't going anywhere," he said and laughed.

As a favor to a friend, McMahon took a meeting with Marc Urbach, who was chief financial officer of what was then known as China Broadband Inc. The company had just secured a license to operate in China and Urbach, who grew up as a fan of the WWE, wanted to pick McMahon's brains about the region. McMahon had spent a lot of time schmoozing government officials to get WWE content inside the country.

"At first I didn't believe them," McMahon said when he was told the company had a green light to set up shop in China. "Getting the license is the hardest thing in the world." He did his due diligence, even flying to China to visit the company's offices there.

Initially, McMahon was approached about joining China Broadband Inc.'s board of directors. The more time he spent studying the company, the more intrigued he became. He joined the company in late 2009 as its chairman and chief executive and invested $4 million.

"It was the hardest decision I've ever had to make," McMahon said of his leaving WWE to strike out on his own. "I didn't want to wake up when I was 70 and say, 'I should have done that.'" Telling his father he wanted to leave was "brutal" and now, almost two years later, there remains some residual tension. "It's still hard," he said.

McMahon is confident that he is entering a buyer's market in China. The heavy piracy there has convinced him that consumers are hungry for content.

"If you give them access and it's better quality, why aren't they going to watch it," he said.

McMahon said he is "very far down the road" with other studios about signing deals similar to the Warner Bros. agreement.

Asked if he'd be striking any deals with his father for WWE content on You on Demand, McMahon cracked, "I don't know, I'm a tough negotiator."

lol at the references to the "Attitude Adjustment Tour". Surprised they haven't dragged that name out of the mothballs for Super Cena.

Yeah, wasn't expecting it to be from that move. Always thought it was like, the aftermath of a DDT or something.

Xero 06-18-2011 04:45 PM

The anonymous GM angle has been going on for a fucking year.

Cool King 06-18-2011 07:44 PM

It's Linda McMahon.

Gregory Helms - It's Time

Zack Ryder - Oh Radio
So, here you go, 6 hours too early. Enjoy.

Flash Funk 06-19-2011 08:24 AM

Has anyone else read about the rumored Raw countdown show to start in the fall? And , if so, what do you think about it?

Xero 06-19-2011 10:17 AM

No. Elaborate.

Flash Funk 06-19-2011 02:14 PM

Read rumors about a show that would air at 8:30 on Mondays as a countdown show of sorts, like a NFL pre game show..

Volare 06-19-2011 02:30 PM

So WWE is looking for the next generation of Sean Mooney?

Emperor Smeat 06-19-2011 02:43 PM

Looks like the Hypothetical thread about what if Cena or Orton was injured could become true at least for Smackdown pretty soon.

Quote:

– As noted earlier, Randy Orton stated on Twitter that he passed the ‘Impact test’ he underwent on Friday. Therefore, he is cleared to wrestle Christian at tomorrow night’s Capitol Punishment pay-per-view event. The WWE World Heavyweight suffered a concussion during Sunday’s SmackDown live event in Spain and had to pass the test in order to be medically cleared to return to the ring. WWE had a backup plan in place should Orton not have been able to wrestle.

He got cleared for now but isn't taking a small break as a health precaution which could end up being a bad thing if he gets another one in a short period of time.

From Ryan Clarke:

According to a source, CMLL discovered that WWE forgot to trademark the name Sin Cara in Mexico and ended up doing it for use in the country. You can bet WWE isn't happy about this.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-19-2011 04:45 PM

Always a good idea to piss off the guys who can crush you if they choose to.

Xero 06-19-2011 06:13 PM

CMLL: HAHA! WE HAVE YOUR ONLY POSSIBLE DRAW'S NAME IN MEXICO! HAHA!

WWE: http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...rio_422809.jpg

CMLL: ...fuck you.
