On RAW, they change the lighting in the arena during commercials so wrasslers know when they are on break or not. The RAW tapings, in my experience, have a much faster "pace" because they are live, but the shenanigans that some wrasslers do during tapings makes them much more enjoyable.

If smackdown is generally cheaper then by all means. It should be cheaper.

I'd probably choose a house show over a SD! taping though if the option was available.

Heisenberg 06-18-2015 09:00 AM

I've been to a RAW and SD! this year and the RAW tickets were just a 10 dollar price increase and I sat in similar spots.

Big Vic 06-18-2015 09:02 AM

Which show did you like better?

Heisenberg 06-18-2015 09:40 AM

in terms of the flow, Smackdown, it was my first one ever and they don't have long breaks in between matches.

RAW obviously had the pressures of being live and all, plus I brought someone who was experiencing it for the first time and we managed to turn our whole section heel. Very fun.

Big Vic 06-18-2015 10:07 AM

Yeah, I hate the breaks too :/

I don't like anything about Crowe. His look, his voice, his entrance music/titantron - all terrible.

I dislike Crowe too.... he's too stocky to be a "high-flying cruiserweight," too small to be a "big man" and hasn't shown any technical prowess to be a "grappler"....

drave 06-18-2015 05:24 PM

He would be great as a "Tazz" type of guy - suplexing the shit out of people. Kinda has the same build too.

That's a great idea, I could really see Icon Soup coming into TWA and just being the hardcore Taz kind of guy.
I don't really see him having the same build as Taz, but I guess he's kind of stocky too.

ICON Soup can definitely do hardcore like in this classic match...

I like Crowe's energy, but he hasn't made me a mark yet. I'll wait until he gets into a feud with someone though.

Mr. Nerfect 06-18-2015 10:03 PM

I'm not really excited for Rollins vs. Triple H, if that is their plan of action. I'd rather see Lesnar vs. Reigns vs. Rollins in a Triple Threat for the title at SummerSlam, with Ambrose vs. Triple H as a feature match. Throw in a final battle between Owens and Cena and you have a damn epic card taking shape.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the WWE is discussing the possibility of bringing in more part time wrestlers such as Samoa Joe and Rhino to help beef up their NXT touring shows. The belief is that many of the brand's marquee stars will likely be on the main roster by 2016, and the company will need more fire power to carry a third touring brand. The report also says there are main roster talents willing to work the shows. As we reported exclusively last week, NXT has been booked on the Louder than Life music festival for Louisville in October. The WWE is hoping to book NXT on more music festival events in the future.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TNA made a big play for former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio Jr last week. Mysterio left WWE earlier this year after over a decade with the company. The Observer reports that both TNA President Dixie Carter and John Gaburick spoke to Mysterio and pushed the notion that they could help increase the visibility of his merchandise, and get it in several retail outlets. Mysterio was also told that he would be built around as a major Hispanic superstar, and would be permitted to work anywhere he wished on days off from television tapings. It was noted by the Observer that Mysterio is still more likely to head to Lucha Underground, although nothing is set in stone, and nothing has been made official.

Another name that hasn't been mentioned before at the camp was Idris Jackson, who is a Northern California wrestler.

One of the biggest stories of the camp was of Dustin & Derek Mehl, twin brothers who work in California and Nevada as the tag team of the Suburban Commandos. Of late they've been working at Hoodslam, but were regulars for years for Supreme Pro out of Sacramento. After day one, they both didn't even come back for day two, which is the hardest cardio day. A lot of the wrestlers were upset because for these camps, WWE pays people's transportation and puts them up and most of the guys there knew other wrestlers who would have done anything to be at the camp and would have gotten in their best shape beforehand, and saw it as two guys taking spots away from them who blew it off after one day.

Also if he changes pretty much everything about himself.

He is already on the verge of a "crazy" kinda gimmick. It would be quite simple to translate that into "mean streak". Add suplexes and maybe renew some crazy submission, like "The Brainclaw" or something, I dunno.

“Daniel Bryan is finished,” said Hart. “He’ll never wrestle again. I don’t think he knows it yet. I feel terrible about Daniel Bryan. For all intents and purposes, he had the exact same thing happen to him that happened to me after Bill Goldberg kicked me in the head [ending Hart’s career].

“One day, you learn it’s over. Doctors tell you that you can’t wrestle and you’ll never wrestle again. I lost millions of dollars because of that. I pray that it’s not the same for Daniel Bryan.” ...

“But, in the creation of Roman Reigns, he seems to now be a lot like Triple H’s character. Long hair, indestructible, no facials, he’s always angry, and there’s no softness in his eyes, so it’s very hard to get sympathy. All of that was poorly thought out. There are ways to achieve all those things with dramatic logic in the match, but they missed a lot of that with him. The company said, ‘We’re going to get this guy so over that no one will be able to compare to him.’ In the end, no one liked him. They just need sometimes that there is a logic that goes to wrestling and people like to see.” ...

“If you watch punches, kicks, and moves where there is contact, Cody Rhodes is one of the best. I watch a lot of wrestlers in WWE throw the phoniest, worst punches – WWE tries to cut camera at the last second. In my day, wrestling had to look pretty real. Cody Rhodes’ punches are right in there, his kicks are right in there, and you never see Cody Rhodes talking in the ring. You see a lot of wrestlers – who aren’t good professionals – talking and calling spots in the ring. They’re oblivious to the fact that all the fans can see them calling a high spot to the guy. There is an art to wrestling and there is a need to do it right. Cody Rhodes exemplifies all the right things.” ...

Hart also provided some perspective as to why Sting lost in his WWE debut at WrestleMania.

“It was so obvious that Sting was going to win that too many people took it for granted,” he said. “So that was the swerve. Then Rock and Triple H planted a few seeds for WrestleMania 32 in that long promo in the ring, and that’s why Triple H needed to go over. Also, Sting isn’t done yet. I’ve heard he has a light contract of a few more pay per view dates.”

Bret gets a 4/10 for his stance on Bryan.

XL 06-20-2015 03:08 PM

His "stance"? Seems pretty clear cut from what he said. I don't see DB coming back. It's really unfortunate because he's a personal favourite that caught on with the mass audience against the odds. But he has to put his long term health first.

This, even if he did come back, there would be no investment in him anymore. He would be seen as too fragile. It's sad, but would have been even sadder had it happened before his big moment, he will have that forever now.

Surprised Vince hasn't fallen all over himself to sign Gunner. Has a good hoss look and a story the fans can get behind (former solider who got into wrestling.)

Had this exact conversation with a friend the other day; as sad as it that his career has been seemingly cut short, at least he had a run that 99% of wrestler don't even touch.

John Cena sells it well.

Mr. Nerfect 06-20-2015 09:26 PM

Wait, so Christian can still technically wrestle? I'd be worried for his health too, but if the dude is cleared and wants to go, at least give him a proper send-off. He's been gone long enough that it could be refreshing. Imagine him hosting a Peep Show in the ring after "retiring," then he cracks a steel chair over some babyface's back. Even one more match against Randy Orton.

As for Bryan -- he does need to do what is best for him. Only he knows what that is. I was thinking the other day that Bryan coming back with a more mechanically-focused heel gimmick would be interesting. But does it need to happen?

Mr. Nerfect 06-20-2015 09:27 PM

Paige should probably give a call to Evil Emma, who still seems to be working face at main roster house shows. I feel bad for Emma, who should have been way more than what she is. Just re-focus her a little and point out that she had a friendly rivalry with Paige.

Think Emma was among the group of Divas that turned her down when Paige tried to rally the troops against the evil Bella empire or whatever she called it.

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-20-2015 09:43 PM

If you're going to do it. You should do it with Flair. Or like a Boss. Or like a Steam Punk Chick or like a Hugger.

Or all of these things.

Well, that's shitty. These women should be fighting for any opportunity to get their hands on the champ -- even if they hate Paige -- which it has been established Emma doesn't. Yet.

Mr. Nerfect 06-20-2015 09:54 PM

Nattie should offer and Paige should turn her down because it didn't work at the Royal Rumble. Nattie should then turn heel on Paige and align with the The Bellas. Paige and Emma then need to find a new partner to take them on. Perhaps this is where they give Becky Lynch a call. She would fit Paige and Emma's style. Layla and Summer Rae join up with Alicia Fox, because they feel like people have forgotten what they can be. Charlotte doesn't want to be overtaken, so she reluctantly joins up with Naomi and Tamina.

The Bellas & Natalya vs. Paige, Emma & Becky Lynch vs. The Slayers vs. Naomi, Tamina & Charlotte

A clusterfuck, but it gives the core female performers in the WWE something to do and focuses everyone into an angle.

Mr. Nerfect 06-20-2015 10:03 PM

I'm pretty excited for the Japan show.

* Lucha Dragons vs. Los Matadores is a feud that I've wanted to see for ages. Have The Dragons win the first match between the two, which Fernando y Diego laugh off. Then Sin Cara y Kalisto win the second match. Los Matadores then cheat to win the third, but don't go full heel yet. They sort of just shrug about it. Then they turn full-blown heel after the Dragons beat them again. This leads to a Mask vs. Mask Match which could actually make a PPV, if their work has been catching on.

* Jericho vs. Neville should be a lot of fun. I'd rather see Jericho vs. Cesaro, but Jericho is likely to make Neville look like a million bucks. It could be a good coming out party for NXT.

* John Cena & Dolph Ziggler vs. King Barrett & Kane seems random, but that's what I like about it. Cena & Ziggler will win, people will cheer, but it'll be fun to see what they put together.

* The Triple Threat for the Divas Title is a rehash, but I hope they get some time and get to tell a story. Hey, it might even be a good place for a title change. It seems that Paige is set for the long chase, but why not just have her pin Naomi and add a different dimension to things? It's not like people really care at the moment.

* I've got no clue why they are doing Brock Lesnar vs. Kofi Kingston, but it's certainly...interesting. I was actually thinking the other day that I can see them breaking up The New Day soon. They have been entertaining together, and it certainly got them all out of a rut (before putting them in there initially), but I think they might try and create three singles stars out of these guys soon. Kofi isn't going to win, although it would be hilarious if Seth Rollins cost him the match and then Kofi went around for the rest of the year, at least, talking about how he beat Brock Lesnar.

* Finn Balor's entrance will be epic. The match should be good, and I'm excited for the title change.

Mr. Nerfect 06-20-2015 10:13 PM

I want to see Cesaro be given something to do as a babyface. Now that he's a face in singles competition, he'd probably be allowed to do the swing again and get over. We still haven't seen everything this guy can do. I'd honestly like to see him start something with The Miz -- who could antagonize Cesaro based on his personality or something. Just a thought.

Mr. Nerfect 06-20-2015 10:14 PM

I was reading something early that says Dolph Ziggler might leave the WWE when his contract expires. Now there would be a hot free agent.

Mr. Nerfect 06-20-2015 10:23 PM

I have an odd interest in The Ascension vs. Harper/Rowan too. They shouldn't have a long match, but I'd like to see a slugfest between the two en route to The Wyatt Family capturing the Tag Team Titles. And yes, they should rejoin The Wyatt Family. Starting with the fall of Roman Reigns at Battleground.

Hypothetical question: If they did Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper & Erick Rowan vs. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and a partner of their choice...who would you have them select as their partner? Who is Shield 2.0 (b) material?

Ziggler in New Japan wouls be fucking incredible.

<font color=goldenrod>I was honestly fucking shocked to read that Ziggler turns 35 next month. I mean I know his days of being Kerwin White's caddy were 10 years ago now...but I still just assumed he'd be younger.</font>

Lock Jaw 06-21-2015 12:56 AM

Hard to believe that Kerwin White's caddy/random member of the Spirit Squad would be one of the WWE's biggest stars today...

I can't believe Kenny Dykstra lasted as long as he did post-Spirit Squad in WWE.

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-21-2015 02:14 AM

Why? He seemed to have the best shot of making it. Until he pissed off Super Cena that is.

#1-norm-fan 06-21-2015 02:33 AM

I don't know about main event mainstay or anything but Ziggler should be a fucking star by now. Dominating the upper-midcard scene with memorable matches for years with a few main event feuds sprinkled in. Fucking WWE.

Evil Vito 06-21-2015 09:36 AM

<font color=goldenrod>They also didn't do him any favors with his name. Dolph Ziggler was fine a first when it appeared he was only going to be a comedy character. But once they moved him to SmackDown in 2009 and had him drop the whole "introduce yourself to everybody" thing, he should have been rechristened with a new name.

Dolph Ziggler just isn't a name you'd put on the marquee to sell a WrestleMania to the casual viewer.</font>

You're right. They should've renamed him Dolph Lundgren. ROCKY IV, BITCHES!

He did once before and ended up just being ridiculed for it until changing back. End up looking like a taller Evan Bourne with how it looked.

According to the dirtsheets, WWE considering at least two options for Lesnar at Summerslam. Either Lesnar vs Rollins or Lesnar vs Owens.

If its Lesnar-Owens then its very likely Battleground's Lesnar-Rollins will be a toss away match meant to just boost the Network numbers since that's when the next report comes out.
