I always knew Teddy Hart had star potential, but I didn’t think it would be as the subject of the next Tiger King.

Doing all this ends up with 3 trios feuds. New Day vs Bloodline, Judgement Day vs OC, JBL and co vs The Hurt Business. I can dig that.

I honestly think Trips will have them retain, since I’d be willing to bet he probably wasn’t on board with screwing over Demolition just because of whatever the incident was that caused Vince to give them the record.

I could see some kind of really controversial ending to tonight’s match that sees the Bloodline retain but leads to a championship rematch at Survivor Series if both teams don’t get stuck on opposite sides of the men’s WarGames match. New Day could win them there and be like yeah you took our record but at least we put a stop to your run before you became the first team to hit 500+ days as champs...or something. Dunno.

Mr. Nerfect 11-11-2022 07:21 AM

Barry Darsow sued the company a few times. The record isn’t sacrosanct — it’s ok to break it.

Mr. Nerfect 11-11-2022 07:27 AM

Gallus actually have the longest tag title reign in WWE history, factoring in all belts.

December 2001: Vince McMahon steps out of a snowy night into a diner in upstate New York for a meeting with old friend Phil Thomson, now a highly placed government official. Thomson has a strange proposition; creating a new covert black-ops group using the Superstars of World Wrestling Entertainment. The WWE's talented men and women are perfect. Highly skilled athletes with the ideal cover, they travel all across the country and the globe; no one would find it unusual to find them in a town one day and gone the next. The government would train and support the wrestlers in every way possible except one: no one must know the truth.

March 2006: The Superstars have been handed their latest assignment -- take down a commercial-grade methyl-amphetamine plant that is bankrolling terrorist activities in Europe. Their mission seems simple and straightforward, until a member of their team is taken prisoner. Now all that they've worked so hard for is in jeopardy, and one of their own might be killed...

What happened to Gallup being on NXT: US?

Lock Jaw 11-11-2022 03:39 PM

Not gonna lie that book sounds great. Had no idea it existed.

I know that they made an "in character" Kane biography.

"Journey Into Darkness: The Unauthorized History of Kane"

Quote:

Kane has always been a dark, complex, and haunted man, and fans have always been drawn to him. They have wondered what caused his pain and suffering. What was his motivation? Instead of basking in the glow of the spotlight, Kane has shunned attention. Kane did not utter a single word for the first years of his career. In a time when Superstars scream for attention, he drew in the masses with only his presence.

"Journey Into Darkness" is the story of a boy who suffers an unspeakable childhood tragedy, losing his family in a fiery blaze. This left him alone and at the mercy of strangers, who whispered about this friendless child who must be cursed.

Follow Kane into a terrifying place that few would dare to go -- his life.

Hmmm I must have been making a "classic Lock Jaw rib" as I have never read it.

I guess I retract my "had no idea it existed" comment, as it seems like at one point I did know. Was probably "news" at one point.... but for some reason I guess it disappeared in my mind.... still knew about the Kane one...

Continuity problems

There are continuity problems with the book's timeline and what happened in real life. The prologue starts in December 2001, with Triple H wrestling Stone Cold Steve Austin Then Chapter 1 starts two years later meaning 2003 or early 2004. In Chapter 6, the story mentions Chavo Guerrero's uncle Eddie's Memorial and how Batista said good things about him. This is a timeline error as Eddie died in late 2005. The characters are therefore referring to an event that takes place over a year in the future.

The guy who wrote this also wrote a novelization of “The Marine”, a novelization of “Footloose” and what appears to be some Star Trek fanfic.

And that’s it.

No, but I did read the Kane book!

Fun fact, Paul Bearer had Gene Snitsky fight Kane to get him tough in his basment in 1996ish in the book lol

Mr. Nerfect 11-11-2022 08:20 PM

From Snitsky’s Wikipedia:

At Survivor Series, Snitsky had an encounter with a character similar to his own, Heidenreich, in which they both exchanged their views on each other – "I like .. your poetry."; "I .. like what you do.. to babies." — while breathing hard, both their trademark ways of talking.

Mr. Nerfect 11-11-2022 08:21 PM

Cornette once said that Snitsky was the only person Vince McMahon personally called to thank him for.

Mr. Nerfect 11-11-2022 08:22 PM

When Snitsky first showed up on WWE TV, the Kane character had been around about 7 years. We are 9 years into Bray Wyatt.

Bad News Gertner 11-11-2022 08:26 PM

Funny thing about Snitsky is that he was only supposed to be called up for the smashing a chair into Kane to cause the Lita miscarriage but then realized that "oh shit, we have to follow through on this" so Snitsky stayed.

LOL newLEGACYinc just wrapped up a story mode playthrough of WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 as Snitsky.

Mr. Nerfect 11-12-2022 04:29 PM

Thinking about watching some random OVW matches and giving my thoughts. OVW gives me the warm and fuzzies. I was told it was good when I was a kid, but I’ve got so many blind spots down there, thought it would be nourishing to go back.

Just watched Brent Albright vs. Doug Basham. I don’t know when it’s from exactly, but Doug Basham is bald and wearing patterned tights — so this is post-Basham Brothers, probably around 2005/2006 or so. This is probably Heyman era.

Very apparent from the start what the story is. Brent Albright submitted for the first time in his career the previous week. He’s reeling from that. Doug Basham is looking to find his spark.

Basham is so good. He does the little things. He’s completely into his match. Even as the crowd is heckling Albright, he doesn’t let that ruin his flow as a heel. When he gets shoved off a headlock attempt, he flies into the corner and goes to the first rope to add that little extra credit to Albright’s offense.

Basham hurts his arm on an arm drag that actually looks awkward. This gives Albright a target for his Crowbar submission hold. There’s a weird spot where Albright hits a Flying Headbutt but seemingly knocks himself out. Basham takes the move, but Alright doesn’t move and Doug covers him for two. Dean Hill mentions in commentary that Basham sent Albright into the turnbuckle and to the floor earlier which has rattled Albright and made that headbutt counterproductive. Interesting if jarring spot.

The Crowbar doesn’t come into play for the finish. Albright gets the win with the Sharpshooter. I kind of like how the Sword of Damacles was ignored there, but I can see why it would bother some people.

Overall, a really fucking good match. Albright kind of upped and disappeared, didn’t he? Fuck me, he looks so young here. I always had this idea of Albright looking 35 in my head, but he’s clearly a baby here.
