Emperor Smeat 02-15-2013 06:51 PM

Skyfall - 4 out of 5

The Imposter - Bizarre documentary about a 23 year old french man who posed as a 14 year old missing child from Texas. Best documentary I have seen in a long time. 9/10

No - Cool movie about the opposition to Augusto Pinochet using advertising techniques to block his referendum and bring him down. I love that it was shot on old U-Matic cameras. Good performance by Gael Garcia Bernal as well. 8/10

Whatever the lowest price for a ticket is any given day, plus a small soda, small popcorn. Hope to keep it under $10 but that's probably not realistic in today's day and age...might be more like $12 or something, but not gonna be one of those dicks who just sneaks in snacks and drink "because it’s cheaper at the store”. That logic has always baffled me. There’s a reason that theaters don’t permit you to do it (money) but it's also a good way to get permabanned from the theater and possibly prosecuted.

Oh ok

A Good Day to Die Hard: 2/10. Awful and ridiculous.

In other words, I'm sure Damninator will enjoy it.

The Condor 02-18-2013 12:35 PM

Dark Knight Rises--- a little late, but... Didn't really care for it. 6/10. Bane was an ok villain but nothing special, and the whole thing was just blah to me. Still better than Batman Begins, though.

Heisenberg 02-18-2013 12:55 PM

I loved Dark Knight Rises, had me hooked the whole time.

Spoiler tag for at the beginning that was a little simple reason I enjoyed it from the start. Doesn't reveal plot, just a special guest appearance for fans of Game of Thrones.

SPOILER: show
Petyr Baelish, a.k.a. Littlefinger from Game of Thrones in the first scene made me mark out in the theater, big Game of Thrones fan.

Not only that, Only good thing was that Russian biker chick... She deserves a better death scene.. Might as well go one on one with McClane hand to hand combat.

ClockShot 02-19-2013 02:47 PM

Zero Dark Thirty - 5/5

Bigelow got screwed not getting a best director nod.

Cool King 02-20-2013 06:40 PM

Wreck-It Ralph - 10/10

The Condor 02-22-2013 12:44 AM

1941- 3.5/10

Anyone who says that John Belushi was a comedic genius that could do no wrong is probably ignoring this pile.

Dunno what to make of the ending:
SPOILER: show
They showed a montage video of various places where the 2 girls killed guys in each specific ones from the forest, to the apartment, and the garage warehouse with no blood. Yet, in the ending, after the heroine finds out that killing her boyfriend was wrong, she kills her then at the bar, she asks the same question to the girl crying at the backdoor of the bar.. Same thing happened to the heroine at the start of the movie.. High Tension-style deja vu twist anyone?

Anywhoo it's like A Spit On your Grave duo chick flick.

7/10.

argo- 8/10

pretty good but not the best that's come out in the past year

The Destroyer 02-23-2013 04:36 PM

Catfish - 7/10

Was honestly expecting it to be terrible, but it was actually alright. Seems 90% likely it's fake though.

Tommy Gunn 02-23-2013 04:51 PM

Mama - 8/10

As a hardened horror fan, I was still terrified by this, I just thought the ending let it down a bit.

whiteyford 02-23-2013 05:12 PM

Brave 8/10

Funny hearing proper Scottish accents for a change.

Corporate CockSnogger 02-23-2013 05:26 PM

Ach

whiteyford 02-24-2013 05:25 AM

That was terrible, calm down calm down.

Triple Naitch 02-24-2013 02:12 PM

Wanderlust - 6.9/10

Silent Hill: Revelation

2/10

Awful...I'm a fan of the games (the first 4 anyway), and despite my expectations was kinda looking forward to seeing it as I assumed it would be based on Silent Hill 3 (my favorite game in the series), but I started falling asleep during this movie.

That said, it's not based on Silent Hill 3 beyond Heather being the main protagonist.

Nothing in this movie matters; no character development, the story never evolves beyond a vague premise, its tenuous tie to the first movie is explained away with a MacGuffin that makes no sense at all, the villain has all of 5 minutes of screen time - with anything you might need to know about her being told through exposition rather than action, and the movie culminates in a laughable final fight that makes no sense within the context of the story.
It exists for no reason other than shallow fan-service, but even then it fails because it's just so lazy and clumsily executed.

The visual effects were also embarrassingly bad, and there were far too many unnecessary '3D' camera shots with stuff being pointed right at you.

Just meandering, pointless, baseless, boring garbage...but it at least met my expectations.

Corporate CockSnogger 02-28-2013 09:25 AM

Wreck-It Ralph - good

ClockShot 02-28-2013 09:53 AM

Quicksilver - 2.5/5

Raven Reaper 03-01-2013 07:38 AM

Saw this movie today... Felt like watching Hamlet/Lion King/Orphan twisted subplot. Why am I saying that? Find out yourself. Intense!! Directed by the Korean guy who made Oldboy and produced by the late Tony Scott and his brother!!! Fucking nice movie. A must watch.

10/10.

No ending spoils from me.. And, this has nothing to do with Dracula author Bram Stoker either nor any of the characters related to him. :p

Nicky Fives 03-01-2013 03:16 PM

Safe Haven - 7.5/10 - for a chick flick and for never having read the book, it was not terrible.... didn't care for the ending, but still an above average movie

The Condor 03-03-2013 03:58 PM

Escape from Planet Earth- 2/10

Saw it as a part of work... If this is what kid movies have come to, future generations are fucked.

The Destroyer 03-03-2013 04:47 PM

Death Proof - 6/10

It was alright I guess.

Nicky Fives 03-05-2013 11:21 PM

Moonrise Kingdom - 8.5/10 - not my typical kind of movie, but I enjoyed it.... I tend to find most dramas boring, but this one kept me thoroughly entertained.....

GD 03-05-2013 11:32 PM

Ruby Sparks - 8/10

Celeste and Jesse Forever - 5/10

Dredd 3D - 8/10

Argo - 7/10

Django Unchained - 8/10

whiteyford 03-06-2013 03:55 PM

I quite fancy that Ruby Sparks, I'll blame you if it's terrible Guru Dave.

mitch_h 03-07-2013 08:42 PM

Paradise: Love - Depressing movie about mutual exploitation where an obese middle age Austrian woman goes to Kenya and is introduced to sex tourism by some of the other guests. She feels unwanted and useless and tries to find true love while the impoverished "beach boys" are just looking for money. Thought it was interesting... lots of uncomfortable scenes too. 8/10

The Orphanage-10/10
Excellent foreign horror film. Not much gore, some creepy, great tension built up throughout the movie with an awesome but incredibly depressing ending.

Pan's Labyrinth-10/10
Loved this as well. Loved that it was telling two completely different styles of stories at the same time. Great performances all over. But like The Orphanage, a great but really depressing ending.

Personally I thought Dredd was a 4 at best.

Pretty sure there's a third one in that 'trilogy', fucked if I can remember what it is though.

The Destroyer 03-10-2013 07:44 AM

Not really a trilogy, but the only other film I can think of is possibly The Devil's Backbone which is another Del Toro film with a Spanish setting.

Although he didn't direct The Orphange.

Mulholland Drive - 4/10.

Someone fancy explaining to me what the fuck it was actually about?

Vastardikai 03-10-2013 02:38 PM

Oz: The Great And Powerful: 4/10

What?

Seriously, I wanted to punch Franco in the dick for most of the movie. Not because he was a scumbag for most of it, but because he hammed it up so much most folks wouldn't call him kosher. And it only worked at one point in the whole movie.

Finley looked shit. And my other big complaint. As Ugly as the Wicked Witch of the West is supposed to be, well. Which do you consider more hideous:

http://www.cinemista.com.br/wp-conte...gico-de-oz.jpg

or

On the plus side, 90% of the CGI looked great. The Land of Oz looked incredible. China Doll was incredibly well crafted. The story was serviceable. But the characters were kind of meh for the most part, excepting China Doll and Evanoria (sp?).

XL 03-10-2013 03:27 PM

Trying to think back through what I've watched and not reviewed.

Oz: The Great & Powerful 4/10 (GF score 6/10)
Thought it was pretty boring for the most part, took forever to get going. Visuls were great though.

Dredd 6/10 (GF score 2/10)
Action film with little to no character/story development. Some great visuals and I imagine it would have looked great in 3D.

The Amazing Spider-Man 7/10 (GF score 7/10)

Corporate CockSnogger 03-10-2013 06:12 PM

Arsenic and Old Lace - really good, light hearted film, seems way ahead if its time with its self parody. The entire time Cary Grant was tied up he was hilarious.
