Uhhh, Punk…your moment in the sun was over a decade ago.

Fascinated by this time in Shawn Michaels’ life. He must have really liked Diamond to come out and do something with him. Physically he was good to go pretty early, but mentally he was sorting some shit out (or just waiting on his WWF/E contract).

Bad News Gertner 05-10-2022 05:07 PM

He and Diamond tagged in Texas All Star when they were first breaking in and later crossed paths in AWA, possibly Memphis and the WWF so the two go way back. It's too bad Diamond couldn't keep his shit together. He was really good

Definitely not Schiavone. Probably no one noteworthy.

Yeah I figured since he was in WCW at this time but you gotta admit the voice is pretty similar.

#1-norm-fan 05-10-2022 05:45 PM

I can KINDA hear it a little bit when he says “through the table”.

slik 05-10-2022 05:59 PM

PWInsider has broken the story Roman Reigns is taking most of the summer off. His last show will be June 19th and then he will be taking the rest of June, July and August off.

Good thing WWE didn't just build everything around Brock and Roman...oh wait.

wonder what crappy movie he will be in.

XL 05-10-2022 06:03 PM

Hmmm. Interesting. Not gonna be at MITB or SummerSlam?

#1-norm-fan 05-10-2022 06:06 PM

I have to think they’ll get a SummerSlam match out of him at least. If they can’t pull priority for a SummerSlam match, that’s trouble.

XL 05-10-2022 06:07 PM

Apparently he’s still “advertised” for the 2 PLEs. For what that’s worth.

Crippla 05-10-2022 06:15 PM

Yeah I would imagine he would return at the end of August for SummerSlam or maybe a "surprise" return at SummerSlam(?)

slik 05-10-2022 06:16 PM

SummerSlam is in July this year

slik 05-10-2022 06:18 PM

MITB - July 2nd
SummerSlam - July 30th

He might do the PLEs w/o working tv, they could work that into his gimmick I suppose

That's terrible.

screech 05-10-2022 06:53 PM

lol they have built no stars beyond Reigns and Lesnar so this should be an interesting summer.

#1-norm-fan 05-10-2022 07:11 PM

They didn’t even build Lesnar. UFC built Lesnar and they jobbed him to a ton of guys hoping someone else’s work would rub off.

Destor 05-10-2022 07:15 PM

lesnar was a draw in the ufc because of his wwf run. be fair.

screech 05-10-2022 07:16 PM

The Mrs. rattled off Drew, Edge, and Seth when I mentioned there being no stars. I like all of those guys but can they carry the company for three months at this point?

(She said "maybe not, but who else is there to really use?")

Yes if he was some unknown who just started in UFC without his first wwe run, I think it would have been a tremendous difference and I also believe he would only be half as well known as he is today.

Lesnar got his SPOT in UFC in large part because of his WWE run. You can’t argue that his UFC career didn’t lead to him coming back a MUCH bigger star than when he left.

I agree with this as well but I still don't think he would be as well known. Considering a large portion of people watched him in UFC because they were wrestling fans and a good amount of wrestling fans during his first run no longer watch wrestling as well. I'm not saying he still wouldn't be popular or a star but you are subtracting a pretty big demographic there

Crippla 05-10-2022 07:29 PM

So I would say he would be about 2/3 of a draw as he is now imo

#1-norm-fan 05-10-2022 07:35 PM

I’m not doubting that his WWE run didn’t play a large part in his ability to become a star in UFC. A LOT of people knew Brock from WWE and tuned in to see what he could do. Hell, a lot less people watched when Punk was on top and him having a name in a mainstream field earned HIM a couple UFC PPV paydays. AND HE DIDN’T EVEN HAVE A LEGIT BACKGROUND.

But Brock is clearly an example of WWE letting a guy go to another field where he can actually become a star and then backing up the Brinks truck to bring him back and reap the benefits.

Supreme Olajuwon 05-10-2022 07:43 PM

If I member correctly, Lesnar left as a mega star to join the NFL, then lost a lot of luster when he crapped out with the Vikings, then had a lot of skeptics about joining UFC, then won a bunch of credibility and star power back when it turned out he was still legit. I think a lot of people forget that it was 4 years between his last WWF match and 1st UFC fight.

Crippla 05-10-2022 07:53 PM

Holy shit his stint with the Vikings completely slipped my mind lmao at least he was the last one cut from the practice squad (I think? can anyone confirm this as true or false?)

xrodmuc316 05-10-2022 08:31 PM

Lesnar main evented Wrestlemania before he left.
Lesnar got a shot with the Vikings because he is a freak athlete. He had not played football since high school, and made it to the final cut day.
Lesnar won his first MMA match in a small promotion.
Lesnar got his shot in the UFC because he was a Division 1 National Champion in wrestling, not because he was in WWE.
Lesnar's UFC career was derailed after 2 occurrences of Diverticulitis.
Lesnar's UFC career got him the WWE deal he always wanted, a ton of money for a few dates a year.

slik 05-10-2022 08:48 PM

Rumors:

SPOILER: show

Riddle or Orton will win one title from Roman, Drew will win the other

Finn will eventually join Judgment Day

Cena might wrestle at SummerSlam

Bayley will return to feud with Ronda

These are… all accurate points…

Supreme Olajuwon 05-10-2022 09:08 PM

And people definitely forget he was IWGP champion between the NFL and UFC

Mr. Nerfect 05-10-2022 10:38 PM

WWE will be fine without Brock or Reigns (although I’m not sure they’re going to be without either of them, but anywho). There’s more parity between the rest of the card, so they can let them do their thing and fight over the belt(s) for a while. Reigns and/or Brock will come back fresher.

Same as AJ Styles maggle!

Sepholio 05-11-2022 02:59 AM

I guess everywhere is reporting that Roman is going to be taking 2-3 months off starting in June, per Meltzer. Hmmmm.

Mr. Nerfect 05-11-2022 04:57 AM

Perfect opportunity for AEW to take the lead! Woooo!

Sepholio 05-11-2022 05:33 AM

Other reports are saying he signed a new deal to work way less dates. Basically will only be on TV and PPVs. Hope that is the case and it isn't something with his health again.

@fan brocks buy rates were high from day 1 in ufc. his star didnt grow there his credibility did. when he came back to the fed his brought with him people who had stopped watching while he was gone. he's not bringing over new fans from ufc. his wwf run bolstered the ufcs numbers with wwf fans. his post ufc wwf run bolstered wwfs numbers with lasped wwf fans.

XL 05-11-2022 10:55 AM

If Reigns is gone from TV you can easily work it into storylines without him dropping the titles. Record a batch of backstage stuff of him reacting to whatever. Do LIVE via satellite stuff. Just have him be like, “you guys work it out among youselves, then I’ll beat you at [insert name of PLE here]” if you want him on those shows. If Brock is back and you want to set up that match again, have Roman “running scared”. Make him a hypocrite by claiming to carry the brand on his back while not actually being there.

This makes more sense if that promo he cut the other night was in a location/arena they don’t usually go to for TV.
