However, that is not the case. As we’ve been reporting here on WrestlingDVDNews.com in recent weeks, the documentary main feature is an extended 1 hour and 6 minute version of the “Journey to WrestleMania: Daniel Bryan” special from the WWE Network.

The WWE Network “First Look” last night was in fact previewing some of the extras planned for the DVD/Blu-ray. The following matches and surrounding interviews were previewed:

— American Dragon & Shooter Schultz vs. Brian Kendrik & Lance Cade
Austin, TX [SmackDown Taping] • February 8, 2000

— United States Championship Match
The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan
Night of Champions • September 19, 2010

— Triple Threat Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Daniel Bryan
WrestleMania XXX • April 6, 2014

That’s just a snippet of the full content of the Daniel Bryan DVD as it will feature over 7 hours of material (8 hours on Blu-ray) including the documentary, a compilation of more than 15 extra matches and segments, plus the new interview footage you’ve now had a taster of.

Quote:

After tonight's WWE RAW went off the air on Long Island, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns eventually made their exit before Randy Orton made his way out for the dark main event. Orton reportedly received one of the biggest pops of the night. Orton faced Bray Wyatt and defeated him with a RKO after countering Sister Abigail. Orton greeted fans at ringside and took selfies with some to end the show and send the crowd home happy. With the Nassau Coliseum closing soon, Orton vs. Wyatt is the final wrestling match to take place in the venue.

We noted before that WWE is working on a DVD about The Undertaker to come out later this year. WrestlingDVDNews.com reports that the title will be a re-release and extended version of the 2012 "Undertaker: The Streak - 20-0" DVD and Blu-ray set. The title will be, "Undertaker: The Streak – 21-1 (RIP Edition)" and the set is scheduled to be released as a regular edition and a limited edition in special coffin-shaped packaging.

We noted over the weekend that Al Haft, who has ties to the "I Believe In Wrestling" dojo that WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall works with, sent word that Hall may be done with Jeff Jarrett's Global Force Wrestling due to WWE. Here's what Haft sent to us: "There was some talk at Jersey Championship Wrestling that Scott Hall was pulling out of Global Force Wrestling due to the size they were becoming and not wanting to upset WWE especially after Hall's WrestleMania appearance." It appears there may be more to the rumors of Hall working for WWE soon. This weekend I spoke with promoter Ricky Otazu, who put on the event in New Jersey that an intoxicated Hall was escorted out of earlier this month. Otazu says one of the reasons he was begging Hall to leave the event in New Jersey was because Hall had previously told them that he was going to work for WWE NXT in the coming weeks and they didn't want him to jeopardize that. Otazu added that Sean "X-Pac" Waltman and other people were pleading with Hall to leave the event in Jersey because any negative news could cost him his spot with WWE. Of course TMZ broke the story that weekend but we haven't heard anything about heat from WWE yet.

Cool King 05-27-2015 03:55 PM

I've never been a fan of the TNA name.

When they first appeared on the scene, I thought "Shouldn't they be TNAW? As their name is Total Nonstop Action Wrestling?"

Maybe a name change would work? Although, I'm sure TNA is far beyond repair now. No matter what they do, nothing will change and things will only get worse.

Maybe they should just close the company and start again from scratch after laying low for a while.

I'm fine for MITB qualifying matches. Shouldn't really have to qualify for a Royal Rumble when they have random entries anyways. It only really made sense when there were 15 Raw/15 Smackdown or 10/10/10 when there was three brands.

I hate the random entries. I don't mind two or three "surprise" entrants, but kayfabe-wise, this match is for a main event match at Mania. It should be the 30 top contenders, not 5 top contenders, 15 random midcarders, an announcer, 4 comedy acts, one NXT guy, 3 legit surprise entrants, and one half of a jobber tag team.

Qualifying matches would go a long way toward making the Rumble feel like a "big deal" again.

I was told that it was intimated that due to the nature of the contract between the two parties, neither TNA nor Destination America can publicly comment on their relationship.

Regarding Ring of Honor being added to the Network, the impression given was that TNA, due to their relationship with DA, could not speak on the show until it was announced. I've heard from a few people who didn't buy that explanation and the general belief among those I've spoken to who were on the call is that TNA didn't know about ROH until it was announced.

At times, once the call was opened up for wrestlers to voice their opinions, the call did get very heated. I was told that at one point, Carter told the wrestlers it was up to them to show the world why they were the best in the world and that they "controlled their own destiny." This led to some of the issues of the past year, including the move from Spike and the pay issues being brought up. I was told Carter responded as if the pay issues were in the past.

I heard differing opinions from talents. One said that he felt better now that had the situation had been addressed as talents were no longer "in the dark" and they hoped everyone would get back to performing and not worrying. The talent referred to the call as a big "family blowout" in that now that everyone said their piece, there was a feeling of communication and now everyone could get back to work.

Another called it a "circus call" in that once the floodgates opened for the talent, some of the talents began bringing up personal issues that would have been better dealt with in a one on one forum.

Still another told me it was over 90 minutes of nothing of substance truly being addressed while noting the company was adamant they wanted things kept private while asking talents not to speak out and leak things.

The Dixie Carter "email" story did not come up during the call, I am told.

Quote:

The discussions between ROH and Destination America began months ago. ROH also talked with other networks and talked with Spike TV for potential special events.

- With Samoa Joe signed to WWE NXT, there's already speculation that WWE will nix his ROH TV appearances now that ROH is airing on cable. The same rule could apply for Rhyno and other talents. Joe is currently scheduled to work the June 20th ROH TV tapings, teaming with AJ Styles to face Kazarian and Daniels. ROH is likely also awaiting confirmation on whether or not they will be able to use Joe on TV, if they haven't found out already.

From what I have been told, this is something TNA is doing on their own and not something that Destination America has requested of the company. There is no working relationship between TNA and ROH and this is not something the two companies came up with together. My belief is that it was a request that TNA management made of the wrestlers during today's conference call. It looks to be TNA's way of babyfacing an obviously embarrassing situation.

Quote:

Here is what we have confirmed about Destination America signing a TV deal with Ring of Honor:

*The series on Destination America will be the same series that is owned and distributed by Sinclair Broadcasting. The episodes will debut over the weekend for Sinclair affiliates and then air Wednesday on Destination America.

*The relationship between Ring of Honor and Destination America relationship is something that has built over the last several months and I am told is independent of whatever is going on between the Network and TNA currently.

*For ROH, and this is just my speculation, it provides them a national outlet to promote their talents, events and PPV shows. While TNA going from Spike to Destination America might have been seen as a step down, for ROH, it's the first time they've had any national TV exposure and this can only be seen as a big boost.

I am told that Destination America wants pro wrestling content on their Network and they want to make the cable outlet a "destination" for that.
Speculated Destination America might try to reach out to as many promotions as possible to fill out their wrestling block in the near future. PWI speculated NJPW could even be in the cards if the offer is right.

 • Turns out Univision hasn't picked up a second season of Lucha Underground yet and a possible 2nd season still likely won't happen until early to mid 2016.
 • RAW's rating ended up being the second lowest of the year but in the usual range for holiday-based week episodes. No real bad hourly drops but none of the hours were really strong either.
 • Recent article from WWE.com involved a roundtable interview with Becky, Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Charlotte from NXT about their goal to change how women's wrestling is viewed on the main roster. http://www.wwe.com/inside/wwe-divas/...table-27431291

What reason would they give WcW (whom they buried at WM this year) events to NXT?

#1-norm-fan 05-28-2015 12:55 AM

It's been 14 years and they've come up with a shitload of new PPVs since then. Only once did they use an old WCW name and every other time, they opted to come up with their own (usually shitty-sounding) one. I highly doubt they're suddenly gonna start using all the old WCW PPVs as specials now.

Also, World War 3 is too much like the Rumble and War Games is too much like Elimination Chamber anyway.

Evil Vito 05-28-2015 09:16 AM

WCW itself didn't even run World War 3 in the final two years of its existence. It's impossible to follow what is going on in three rings at once. That being said I'm a sucker for battle royals so I'd probably mark out if they brought it back for some reason.

Probably for the best considering how bad the WW3 rumble was the year Nash won. That and almost everyone who won were nWo guys I think.

New Japan Pro Wrestling would fight perfectly on a station called Destination America.

WWE confirmed on their website tonight that Rusev suffered an injury at Tuesday's SmackDown tapings. They noted that he's currently being evaluated for a lower leg injury. WWE is promising an update on Rusev's status as we go into Sunday's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. As noted, Bray Wyatt is expected to replace Rusev in the Elimination Chamber for the vacant Intercontinental Title if Rusev is unable to go.

Regarding GFW, word is that there is no TV deal in place and while they're looking at using Jim Ross and Chael Sonnen as announcers, Sonnen hasn't actually signed his deal. JR also hasn't signed a deal but that's been known. Sonnen has been recording videos for GFW and appeared at their press conference but is still not signed, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dixie's speech was filmed for the reality TV pilot. At the same meeting backstage, Dixie introduced Billy Corgan to the roster and that was also filmed. There's a feeling that even if TNA is faced with a worst case scenario, not getting a new US TV deal, that there is still good reason to keep the company alive as long as a deal for a Dixie reality TV show is still being offered. The idea is that the show will be sold on a woman running a pro wrestling company in a male-dominated industry. There are also a number of international television contracts in place for Impact so, and this is if they can't get U.S. television in the fall, do they keep producing new content to fulfill their worldwide deals? Nobody really has an answer, but if it is affirmative, that would also necessitate even more financial cutbacks

I'm not really interested in Stardust vs. Stephen Amell. Cody Rhodes, however?

Mr. Nerfect 05-28-2015 10:46 PM

I can't see the WWE bringing back many of those WCW PPV concepts, except for maybe War Games when the timing is right. I could see them doing a Lethal Lottery one or something though.

Maybe a name change would work? Although, I'm sure TNA is far beyond repair now. No matter what they do, nothing will change and things will only get worse.

Maybe they should just close the company and start again from scratch after laying low for a while.

Sadly, they actually really tried to rebrand. Remember "iMPACT! Wrestling"? Exactly. They couldn't even be assed enough to:

a) come up with something less confusing, as it was difficult to distinguish if someone speaking were referring t the current show or the company as a whole, and

b) stop people working for them from using the letters. They didn't bother with the rebranding and continued to call it "TNA".

None of that makes any sense. I mean, even ignoring the weird opponent, Brock doing a live event overseas?

The WWE Japan Youtube channel has a promotional video showing Lesnar, so...

No idea what's going on any more.

Tom Guycott 05-29-2015 01:25 AM

Kinda torn.

On one hand, Cody could do the "opposite" of Rey Mysterio's superhero themed PPV attire, and skew his gear towards villains.

On the other, he'd kinda be stepping on Finn Balor's toes by doing so.

Would make more sense if Kofi was cemented as a singles guy after the Orton feud.

here is that vid:

and some press release says that he is up against kofi, i guess.

Emperor Smeat 05-29-2015 02:21 AM

Maybe its just a warm up fight until he takes on a bigger opponent like Godzilla. Him F5ing Godzilla would just elevate his beast status into god-like tier while also becoming the savoir of Japan.

Either that or with Hideo Itami now out, the WWE needed a really big name for the tour. Itami and Balor were originally supposed to be the showcase stars for the Japan trip.

Lesner is a big draw in Japan and wrestled over there after her left WWE and even held the IWGP Heavyweight title so I can see WWE wanting him on the tour. Lesner vs Kofi is questionable but I can see it starting with Kofi and the rest of the New Day get involved and their be a 3 on 1 handicap match.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-29-2015 12:49 PM

Sucks for Kenta though. First tour of Japan in WWE and he's out.

I expect this to be even worse than the 1st.

The 1st was pretty fucking disappointing. The 2nd, if that pic is to say anything, is pretty bad.

I don't mind him facing Kofi, would much rather he face Cesaro if he is going to face a midcarder though.

OK it is seems like weird casting, I'd say that CM Punk is a little pissed Sheamus got a spot in the movie and he wanted to play Kasey Jones.
