Sega are suing the makers of Professor Layton over Inazuma Eleven because they hold a patent on moving a character with a stylus.

Patent reform, anybody?

#BROKEN Hasney 12-12-2012 06:16 AM

I mean, I know this is in Japan rather than the US for a change, but this shit needs to end.

Nintendo should have a chat with them over the kart racing thing. And the jump button thing.

According to recent job postings, SuperBot Entertainment could be planning a sequel to Playstation Battle Royale with development to either occur soon or already be in a very early stage of development.

Besides the usual need for programmers and designers, the job postings emphasis the experience needed is for games similar to Playstation Battle Royale.

Quote:

“Must have a near encyclopedic knowledge of modern games, with emphasis on PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.”
Adding more fuel to the speculation this new game could be a sequel is from the Art Director's job posting which states the need to be able to explain how characters and environments will work out in this new project.

Quote:

“He or she will also represent SuperBot to external vendors, IP holders, and the publisher, explaining and demonstrating the vision and how individual characters, environments, or other assets will fit.”

"candidates should be well-versed in video game aesthetics, with a particular emphasis on the history of PlayStation titles and characters"

Xbox just renewed my membership. My last membership was for 3 months so I thought they'd charge me for that. I had £20 so it was no big deal.
Just found out they charged me for 12 months so I'm now in debt by £19.99. Great!

Seriously want to punch whoevers in charge of the whole membership stuff.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-15-2012 02:17 AM

He's probably getting promotions for making it so hard to cancel while still being within the law.

Yeah, they got me with that too. Auto renewal has been turned off ever since.

Drakul 12-15-2012 03:32 AM

Don't suppose they'll give me my money back and cancel my gold, when I give them a phone when they open at 10, will they? :(

Fignuts 12-15-2012 04:04 AM

I got them to reduce it to 3 months, and refund some of my money.

Drakul 12-15-2012 04:11 AM

What did you say to get them to do that?

Tommy Gunn 12-15-2012 04:51 AM

I have to wait a month to turn off auto-renew because somehow my Xbox account no longer recognizes the laptop I'm using, WTF. Basically I can only turn it off on the day before it auto-charges my card. Just another cheat way to try and get your money basically.

Drakul 12-15-2012 05:04 AM

Isn't there some kind of consumer right that says we should be able to do this stuff as simpley as possible? What if someone that couldn't use a phone for some reason wanted to turn off auto-renewal?

I just tried phoneing. I went through the menus and waited to talk to someone but got disconnected instead.

Drakul 12-15-2012 05:27 AM

27 mins listening to the please hold music and counting.

Drakul 12-15-2012 05:48 AM

I was on hold for a total of 40 minutes and I spoke to someone for 5 minutes.

He told me how to stop that "loop" situation I had. I need to do something that involves multiple broswers or the privacy setting on the browser or a second device. So unnecessarily convoluted, I'm surprised they didn't ask me to hop on one foot or hold my breath while I did it or something.

Got auto-renew turned off and he switched me to a month fee. That way I get to game online over Christmas and then my gold account is silver afterwards.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-15-2012 07:39 AM

They're all shit. Nintendo still haven't got back to me after 3 weeks trying to get my Virtual Console games back.

Since you're not American, maybe. If you were American, I'd be forced to laugh in your face.

Drakul 12-16-2012 04:44 AM

UK consumer rights aren't too bad, actually. We get a lot of useful ones. You are entitled to a refund whenever you want it, as long as you still have the thing you bought. You just have to give a reason the item wasn't satisfactory and it doesn't even have to be a big thing. "This burger isn't hot enough" or "This glass is too narrow" would probably work in a resaurant.

I assumed there would a right saying things like managing subscriptions and payments should be as accessible as possible. The fact I needed to phone someone wouldn't have been much help for me if I was deaf or mute, for example. Not very accessible.

Fignuts 12-16-2012 04:52 AM

We can't return a videogame or movie once the plastic wrap is removed.

Can't really blame them, as you'd have way more people abusing it, than legit returns.

Drakul 12-16-2012 04:59 AM

That's the same here overall but I was able to return Skyrim for a full refund after removing the wrapping by saying the game required an HD tv for it to be playable but it was never mentioned on the box.

CANCELLED.

The Destroyer 12-16-2012 07:08 AM

It was cancelled years ago. Was meant to be out either in 2010 or 2011 and it got chopped when the developers couldn't meet the deadline.

Fignuts 12-16-2012 02:10 PM

Still dunno why they didn't hand it off to someone else. It was the best selling star wars game of it's time. It's still the best selling game behind Force Unleashed. And that was before online console play hit it's stride.

Battlefront 3 is a license to print money. I don't get it.

Emperor Smeat 12-16-2012 02:17 PM

LucasArts had really horrible management at the time to the point they had to restructure the company not because of money reasons but to fix how bad management became.

I forget that the US, shitty as it is, borders on the pinnacle of services for the Deaf.

Do you guys not have anything like Relay, though? In the states, there's a national service that allows you to use a third party to communicate via TTY or computer. While not ideal, it would certainly allow a customer to deal with being Deaf.

...What can I say? My ex has a Deaf brother and my current girlfriend is hard of hearing in one ear. I'm pretty familiar with this stuff.

Yes we can. It varies by store, but most places seem to do it. Even Wal-Mart has changed its tune, and they were the biggest retailer to not do it.

Yeah, we do. I used to work in a call centre 8 years ago and we had specified agents trained to deal with the Relay type system because some of our agents would get frustrated by the delay. I was one of them and I dealt with it about twice.

The Destroyer 12-17-2012 01:22 PM

Oh god I loathed those sorts of calls. Didn't help that the service (Typetalk as it was then) seemed to be staffed by the most unprofessional people ever. Had one agent end their shift midway through the call so decided to fob the call off on someone else. Great service, that.

They get really shitty about you trying to speak to them directly rather than the caller too.
