Too bad I only used her properly for about half of the first round against blitz. Had him on the ropes, but then I just laid off for some reason, and stayed that way the rest of the match. Stupid.

QUINTUPLE POST

Kalyx triaD 10-14-2010 03:10 AM

Chun Li is awesome. She and Cammy fight over me in my master bedroom.

Fignuts 10-14-2010 03:13 AM

My execution isn't good enough yet where I am as good as you. I am hoping that will change when I get my stick.

Not saying a stick will make you better mind you, but the majority of my fighting game experience has been at arcades, so it might make ME better. More familiar, you see.

Dunno. I am a pad guy for life. I just need a decent d-pad to do my thing though.

RoXer 10-14-2010 03:16 AM

Blahblahblah

Do we wanna play now?

Also, I am starting on cammy as well, after abandoning makoto. My thought is that if I can beat Khuntry while he is using makoto(knowing that he is way better overall than me, and he uses her way better than I likely ever will) she is not worth my time.

Anyway, maybe we can hit up some 1v1, so you can show me the ropes with both characters.

(insert Kane Knight style innuendo)

K, gimme 5 minutes to piss and mix a drink, you cunt. And you'd better have a headset. :foc:

I like to use her fireball and long range normals to influence behavior. The real punishment is her jumping HP combo (which is almost anti-air and leaves fools in a juggle state for EX Bird Kick or Kikosho) and her arc kick (which overheads and generally makes people panic for some reason). Her command combo is also good for setting up Kikosho, with the first kick having good range.

In fact her normals are so good you can have a match rarely using her specials.

Fignuts 10-14-2010 03:20 AM

Well fuck it, if funky is getting down as well, i'll unhook it and brink it to my room.

That would be cool. Though Cammy is fairly straight forward and relies more on reflexes. Chun Li is the most technically demanding character for me.

Once I get in close I mix up the arc kick, low kicks, and the down+foward fierce kick that works like a cross up, to deadly percision. It's how I got blitz's guy on the ropes( something that should be commended because to all due credit he's awesome with him) and dizzyed funky's el fuerte svereal times in one match. But I have trouble getting close enough to do this sometimes.

I can also do her jumping HP> back MK > up down MK > Kikosho Ultra combo, but I end up looking for it so much that I make stupid mistakes, and get KO'd. Just like I look for Juri's Special/FAC combo into ultras too much

Kalyx triaD 10-14-2010 03:38 AM

Yeah you wanna impress yourself, but I like to look for opponent's actions with as much anticipation. Like with Chun Li all I want is for you to jump at me and I will beat you with her HP 2peice and set up Kikosho or EX Bird Kick, but people won't just do what you want. So you either need CPU on expert kind of psychic reflexes or you influence the fucker to jump, which can be done many ways.

Most of the attacks you do should be bullshit feints waiting for mistakes, if you're facing a bright lad anyway. Some people can be eaten alive by routine attacks, not worth the forethought. Then you got guys like Drak or RoXer who wisely cover up character weaknesses and the mind games expand.

Overall, however, SF4's DNA still ebbs toward execution rather than mindgames; so Soulcalibur is more attuned to my competitive beliefs (Yomi, shit like that). It helps that SSF4 is balanced as all hell, which is why we all got so evenly skilled in a short period of time with our own characters.

But yeah, we need to stop looking for self gratifying set-ups. Got me killed too much.

Fignuts 10-14-2010 03:46 AM

Yeah, definitely better at Tekken. Not so reliant on execution, and more on anticipating on what your opponent will do next.

VERRRRRY dissapointed with how far my tekken skills have fallen btw. Used to be as good at Tekken 5 as Khuntry is at SSF4. Now I'm a scrub again.

Kalyx triaD 10-14-2010 03:49 AM

But really; Tekken 5 > Tekken 6. Juggling got out of hand for my tastes.

Fignuts 10-14-2010 04:04 AM

Well, you have to try and avoid getting caught with your opponent's pop up attacks. Anticipation. That's why I like Dragunov. Parry most pop ups into an arm breasker. BOOM. There goes the dynamite.

Kalyx triaD 10-14-2010 04:11 AM

A lot of moves juggle you, though. The rewards for good reading is significantly less than the reward for dialing in a lengthy combo in Tekken 6.

Funky Fly 10-14-2010 04:29 AM

Word. Tekken 5: DR = perfection.

Funky Fly 10-14-2010 05:57 AM

fucken internet gayed out on me.

Jeritron 10-14-2010 07:57 AM

Is this thing still going? Who is still standing?

Jeritron 10-14-2010 07:58 AM

When MvC3 comes out we should get a tourney going, since it's a fighting game I'll actually buy.
I only have PS3 though, and I will probably get my ass kicked by all of you guys but I will be a good sport about it.

Kalyx triaD 10-14-2010 08:01 AM

We're mostly on XB360. I had a theme for how an MvC3 TPWW tourny should work that ties with the game's premise before scrapping it. Don't know if a tourny will happen.

For the best really. SLAMMING BEERS and playing pool with friends >>>>> playing street fighter with a guy who is clearly better than everyone else and picks his best guy EVERY FUCKING MATCH.

Dick move, Blitz. Dick move.

:( I'm trying to get really good with him. And you left so damn quick anyways. I was playing Ibuki against Roxer for a while too.

Fignuts 10-14-2010 01:58 PM

You already ARE really good with him.

Funky Fly 10-14-2010 02:33 PM

Anyone who's good with a speed character like Guy, Cammy or Ibuki is really good in general, since you need perfect timing to be any good with those characters. Plus your Guy is pretty good, though your Ken and Ibuki are better, IMO.

Khuntry 10-14-2010 03:22 PM

Trying to really understand Ibuki along with some other chars. I never payed attention to.

I'm talking Kiryu Tsukimiya (youtube him) good. Honestly, my BP with Guy is only so high because no one uses him online so no one knows the matchup. And even then I'd say I win no more than 50% of my matches with him.

I don't understand your adulation for my Ken. Honestly pretty much all the fights I've had against you have been the exceptions to the rule. I'd say I probably win about 40% of my fights with him online. And Ibuki (Cammy too) has suffered greatly since I picked up Guy, as they are all have very different playstyles.

I really want to make my Guy into more of a rushdown threat. I tend to play runaway with him, relying on the Bushin Flip far too much. That's gonna be nerfed when the arcade update hits consoles, so I can't rely too much on it. I need to start incorporating Hozanto and related combos more.

I'm a pretty mediocre player altogether. I rely far too much on specials. Focus attacks have only recently become part of my game. I don't combo that much. I hit and run. Still wake up super/ultra way too much. Still jump in too much. I have a lot of bad habits I want to kick, and I figure the easiest way to do it is to focus on one or two characters for the moment.

Blitz 10-14-2010 04:39 PM

Though I did recently experiment with Chun and I think she has potential. Might pick her up a little.

Funky Fly 10-14-2010 04:44 PM

Well, your Ken is pretty god damned aggressive. Completely smoked my Bison. Even when I beat him with T Hawk, it was pretty difficult.

Speaking of T Hawk, I took him online again a while ago, and everyone seems to know the game a lot better. I'm still winning, but people are spamming jumps to try and make me whiff. Just wanna be like "I play T Hawk, niggas. I control the skies." all the time. Makes me think a lot of people have picked him up.

I thought it was me. When I was Seth against Abel, just at the end of the match my game froze and then started up again really laggy and I was KO'd.

Watching you guys fight, I was a whole round behind in spectator mode because of lag.

When I was Zangief and fighting you, it wasn't as bad but it was still there. That's why I kept jumping backwards and kneeing thin air. I was trying to grab and it was all out of time/sync etc so it ended up as jumps.

When RoXer was about to win with Gens bicycle kick combo, It slowed down to a crawl for me and then just disconnected me completely and sent me to the menu screen.

I spoke to my brother and he couldn't get an internet connection at all the night before. Someone else I spoke to said their internet connect was really slow yesterday aswell so I thought maybe there was a local problem at my side.

Fignuts 10-15-2010 02:09 AM

It was you. Once you left, we didn't have any problems.

What funky was talking about was the end of our series of matches. My xbox lost the connection to the internet for some reason.

Drakul 10-15-2010 02:25 AM

Alright, no idea what's going on around here. Hopefully It'll be better next time.

RoXer 10-16-2010 11:47 PM

Got my ass handed

RoXer 10-16-2010 11:47 PM

At least I'm not black

G 10-16-2010 11:50 PM

that's when you say at the beginning of the match, "you know what, i've already won"

RoXer 10-16-2010 11:55 PM

Dunno what happened. Lost 5-1. Should have won at least 2. Fucked up a lot.

DRAKUL/BLITZ: What is the deal? Are you guys going to finish the 3-2 match you started? Or start a new one?
