Winning Time is so good.
Love the tension of the coaching situation. |
But what of the cycling?

As for Brody, I guess deep down it was always in some way going to be more focused on Pat Riley. So it makes sense that the performance is slowly but surely taking center stage. |
“Under The Banner Of Heaven” has a hell of a cast and source material.
It’s a mini-series too so I will definitely get into it, just trying to decide if it’s going to be now or when it’s all released so I can binge it… |
Started watching Halo.
Way better than I was expecting. Not sure how it's gonna go overall but its off to a decent start. |
it is meh
|
On a whim, I started up Lost in Space on Netflix and started season 2. Liking it so far.
|
Space Force got cancelled which is a shame because Steve Carrell and Ben Schwartz are a match made in heaven.
There were serious deficiencies in the other cast and the direction but to be fair the joke quality was pretty good. |
“The Man Who Fell To Earth” is pretty hacky so far, a lot like the film. It is a lot easier on the eye with the vastly superior cinematography, and soul with Chiwetel Ejiofor in the protagonist role and pseudo-Bowie as backup.
The story of this miniseries had better fix the original because it was pretty bad. |
Wow… episode 2 of “The Man Who Fell To Earth” was fucking great.
If it can hold that quality for the next three episodes this will be the best 5 part miniseries of all time. 5 part miniseries… what the fuck… |
Was gonna pass on the live action Cowboy Bebop. The anime was as close to perfection as you can get and with the adaptation being canned after season 1, I didn't see much need to watch. Got bored and decided to watch anyways. Only a little ways in but it's better than what all the complaints I had heard made it seem. Hope it doesn't get terrible later.
I popped hard at the start of the second episode when the bounty hunter TV show came on. As soon as I heard the into for it I was marking out. Good shit there. |
I think the way they handle Mad Pierrot will be the deciding factor on whether or not I approve of this version. If they ruin him they should all be ran out of the business, possibly even tarred and feathered.

Somebody watch “Under The Banner Of Heaven” with me.
Andrew Garfield in a John Krakauer adaptation? Yeah go on then. I promise not to cry if he doesn’t. |
John Krakauer is a great writer.
Not a reliable narrator, but no great writer is. I just like how Emile Hirsch and Andrew Garfield are polar opposites in terms of acting but are both perfect leads in their respective adaptations. I really hope Ben Foster gets to be in one too. |
Wood Harris continues to kick ass as Spencer Haywood in Winning Time.
|
Everything about it has been enjoyable.
I still can’t stop thinking about the bike accident. |

Better Call Saul Moon Knight Outer Range Under The Banner Of Heaven The Man Who Fell To Earth Godfather Of Harlem I’m watching 7 shows right now… |
I'm watching nothing.
|
Oh man Cowboy Bebop handled Mad Pierrot perfectly. So much better than I had thought they would or even hoped for. The show deserved its second season based on this alone.
|
Also LOL at Spike and Vicious having a random conversation about shaving/not shaving their balls.
|

RIGHT!? |
V upset they aren't doing season 2. Didn't think I would feel like this man. Feels bad.
|
show was shit. 60% of the audience in ep 1 didnt return for ep 2 and by ep 3 the show was basically a private theater for you 3 assholes. lets not look back fondly on that fucking turd
|
HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO NOT EVEN GET EIN RIGHT
|
better than Halo :D
|
i thankfully will never know
|
Didn't even finish an entire episode. Honestly, outside of Halo terms, it could just be another Space Marine show.
|
it didnt look inspired...at all
|
Yeah, I've rarely seen an adaptation miss the tone and and atmosphere of the source as badly as Cowboy Bebop. If you want to change things up and do your own thing that much, then fine, but make something original then, instead of an adaptation.
People probably wouldnt have disliked this as much if it was an original ip. Writing was still bad, but it may have lasted long enough to turn itself around instead of being immediately cancelled. |
INdeed. Didn't they pitch it as a "shot for shot" remake of the anime early on?
I think I recall watching trailers that were comparing the 1st episode side-by-side to the anime, and it was pretty spot on. Took a shit after that, and the only REAL good parts revolved around Mad Pierrot. |
Any1 ever watch the non-hit HBO show "Rome"
Watched the first season and a couple of episodes of season 2... really like it Wasn't liking it for like the first half of the first season but then started getting very good imho! |
Quote:
Ironically, the best looking shots are the ones they came up with on their own. There are moments where the cinematography is very good. Thats the only really good thing I can say about the show. |
I'd be interested to watch it as a guy who has never seen the anime and see what I think..... but it was canceled so I probably won't
|
don't worry its very bad on its own merrits
|
Even if you've never seen the anime, Ed is one of the cringiest things you will see on a show.
|
Oh god..... I think I blocked that out..... and Ed was barely even there.
|

Rome was a great show for the first season and still a damned good one for season two but I think they were spending too much on production so it got the axe. I remember it fondly anyway, could well be worth watching again. The action scenes were pretty great. |
Trips you might enjoy Spartacus Blood And Sand if you like Rome.
|
Watched the first episode of “The Pentaverate” and it is hot garbage with material Chuck Lorre would consider too broad and old hat.
Canada jokes in 2022. Christ |
Is that the thing with Mike Myers in it?
|
Quote:
|
I think the original was too young, the time jumps forward a fair bit in season 2.
|
wow The Pentaverate is trash. If this is the kinda dreck Myers still wants to put out there then he needs to just suck it up and give the people Austin Powers 4 like they wanted 20 years ago.
|
The only value in this show is that its such a trainwreck that you kinda wanna see if it can possibly get any dumber. It does. Oh God it does.
|
I did warn you man.
There’s material in there that wouldn’t have made the grade for Airplane! 2 |
Your warning wasn't clear enough and now my dick is caught in the ceiling fan. Thanks a whole bunch.
|
Myers’s newer stuff has a way of making you appreciate the older stuff less (partially because his shit is usually recycled from his older work)
|
Feel like Austin Powers 4 would suck now too
|
I mean the third one was already not great
|
The presence of Michael Caine in a sequel guarantees a level of quality far below sub-standard and into MST3K territory.

You couldn’t tell Mike Myers was in it? He’s 75% of the cast. |
Hey he's still not automatically off-putting for me because I was a mark for Austin Powers and Waynes World when I was a kid.
|
Anyways, as I tend to do, I didn't watch one of the super popular shows that everyone was into when it was popular. Dunno why I tend to shy away from things everyone else loves, but it what it is and now I finally get around to watching something 73 years late.
This time it was Breaking Bad. I'm not even giving thoughts on the show other than to say I was an idiot for not watching this before. Oh and Walter is the fucking man. Predictably I followed up with El Camino and now I'm on to Better Call Saul. I really gotta stop doing this to myself. Maybe I'll watch Game of Thrones after this. Or The Sopranos. You get the picture. |
The Sopranos is a must-watch.
|
Sopranos instead of GoT. For God’s sake.
|
Tyrion Walnuts
|
I was gonna watch Sopranos first until Dale suggested it. Def GoT now.
|
i know youre not going to want to. i know this is going sound insane when the titme comes. stop watching after s4. that's when they pass the books. it holds itself together (to diminishing returns) for s5 and 6 and then becomes completely unwatchable. you wont want to. because s4 and up is amazing. but you should. you really really should.
|
sopranos however holds up throughout even with a heavily disputed ending (i love its ending)

Watching All of Us Are Dead.
Its like live action High School of the Dead without the ridiculously gratuitous fan service....which is what made that show stand out. So this is fairly pedestrian by comparison. Dunno if Ill keep watching. |
Sopranos ending ages like fine wine
|
I’ve begun a “That 70’s Show” re-viewing.
So much stuff would not be ok now and was only gotten away with at the time because they play on “acceptable in the 70’s” constantly. Fez calls people whores regularly. Kelso is a rapist in the making. Calling a guy Foreskin in an after school show… Everything Red ever says or does… So fucking good. The most self aware kids show. As an adult it is just a high level sitcom on par with Raymond but so much more harsh. |
Feel like Red Foreman and Al Bundy are the 2 dads that middle-aged Gen-X dads annoyingly use as avatars for themselves. It's unfortunate because I love both characters but they're misappropriated.
|
Excuse me some of us model ourselves after Tim The Tool Man Taylor
|
Speak for yourselves, I was always a Zelda Spellman mark.

She was a fine piece of ace

No. You are Drave. You aren't a television character.

Started Animal Kingdom, very good!

I am. I am indeed a character. A filthy NPC who keeps the simulation running and then bloviates the wonders of reality to his family, who are just additional strings of code which will undergo a memory wipe after my departure. |
"bloviates" really??
Fucking etymology class sticking with me more than anything else after all these years |
Bloviate is a cool word.
|
those characters are archetypal. its not that youre those characters its that those characters are you. thats by design. its whats makes them relatable.
|
Destor coming in with the John Madden colour commentary.
|
it wasnt my take that was low resolution
|
If Andrew Garfield played Al Bundy we’d all cry our eyes out when we bought shoes.
Luckily it was Ed O’Neill so we all stuck our hands down our pants instead. |
Can confirm that fondling your crotch def makes shoe shopping much more enjoyable.
|
Just caught up on Season 3 of Barry. Hoo boy did they take a dark turn. But through the first 4 episodes it has been fantastic.
|
I'm caught all the way up on Better Call Saul now and wish that I had waited a couple months til it was over to start binging it >_<
|
I guess I should watch “Barry” then.
I saw the first episode a couple of years ago but never continued. |
BCS with one of those cliffhangers that makes me hate how evil and inhumane Hollywood can be >_< It should be a crime against humanity to make me wait after that.
|
Now that I'm done with BMW and GMW, catching up on modern shows... watching season 2 of Young Rock... I enjoy the show.
|
Been watching "Veep" for the first time cause poopfromweiner dude once said he liked it and was looking for shows to watch...
Funny tbh... Got better as it went on. Wasn't sure about season 1. Feel like all of the writing was every character being like "Listen up, chucklefuck" or saying "Fuckistan" or "Whatever you say, Fuckface McFuck" and stuff... Really 2010 era writing... Was like "damn..." But way funnier as it went on and stopped most of that type of stuff... up to season 4 now |
Binging 24 again. Loved the idea of season 1, season 2 dragged a bit after the midseason event, season 3 was very good. Now on Season 4 which is my favorite season because it spawned everything for the next 6 seasons of the show.
|
Stranger Things S4 Part 1
The Boys S3 The Outlaws S2 Inside No. 9 S7 The Orvillle S3 Ms. Marvel Kenobi |
On season 4 of That Seventies Show in my re-watch.
Kelso and Eric are so good man… Kelso’s facial expressions destroy me. I will never not love that idiot Ashton Kutcher. He was great once. Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp are a mixture of solid and brilliant for the duration. How they got away with the things they said is due to real credibility. What a time it must have been. I hope if I ever get dementia that I live in this universe mentally. That would be cracking. |
The Boys season 3 episode 4 continues in the same level of brilliance as the previous three episodes.
This season is throwing big, brilliant scenes into every episode…sometimes twice… It was already a great show but this is high paced and high budgeted stuff now. It’s turning into a perfect season. |
Actually this latest episode is just full of big brilliant scenes. Two is way too low given how many crazy things happened…
This is an all-time leader in the superhero genre. Nothing fucks with it as an adult orientated comic book adaptation. Glorious. |
