Like a lot of comic movie-based actor announcements, already outrage online due to the actor being white and people assuming or wanting someone else instead.

Part of it is due more to the recent "whitewashing" Oscars outrage and Marvel not doing themselves any favors by interviewing a bunch of Asian-American actors making it seem like the character was going to played by an Asian actor.

Also doesn't help that there is a really old stereotype when it comes to white people playing martial arts characters.

Iron Fist is a blond white dude. So they cast a blond white dude.

Fucking overtly PC bitches. If they made a Bill Clinton biopic, tjey'd probably complain if he wasn't played by a spanish-african transexual.

Yeah.... if he were an Asian dude in the comics and they cast a white dude that would be one thing, but now people are getting angry because a white dude was cast to play a white dude?

Think the history of the character's backstory is also playing a role in the outrage. Its part of a really old stereotype of how a white guy gets his martial arts abilities when writers don't want the character to actually be Asian.

The outrage is dumb.

That's Iron Fist's whole thing. He's looked down on by all the martial artists because he's rich and white, yet he becomes so great he earns their respect and whatever.

X-Men spin-off film Gambit got delayed indefinitely and currently dropped out of Marvel's lineup of comic films.

Frank Castle is back. Entertainment Weekly has learned that Marvel and Netflix have ordered a "Punisher" series, spinning off of "Daredevil" season two. The series will star Jon Bernthal, reprising his role as the Punisher, and "Hannibal's" Steve Lightfoot will serve as showrunner.

Sweet. Really enjoyed this version of Punisher and if is even HALF as good as the Daredevil series, it will not disappoint.

Yeah, at first I really hated that casting, but now I think Jon Bernthal was the best Punisher so far.

Also, he refrained himself from scratching/touching his head all the time like he did on Walking Dead, so kudos to him.

Every acting coach will tell you the same thing. Give a manurism or quirk to the character you're playing. We as humans all have them. Shane's was the head rub, not the actors however. Im sure if we rewatched his Frank Castle we'd find he too has a quirk.


As far as this being a series...it will be good but I wish they werent making it. It'd rather have him as a loose cannon popping up almost randomly in the defenders runs.

So, Steve Rogers is back to being an Aryan ubermensch.

So not only is wolverine 3 rated r but the producer has confirmed it takes place in the future and has a very "western" feel to it.

So, looks like we are getting Old Man Logan. Going to have to change things quite a bit given who's in the original story.

Like I says before, adapting the tone and theme is more important than adapting characters.

Best they could replace him with is probably Blob and I just don't see it somehow.

Being set in the future I wouldn't expect Magneto or Professor X in it. Would love to see Deadpool replace Hawkeye since he should still be alive and he has experience with the X-Men universes version of a super soldier formula. Omega Red and Juggernaut could be some villains that control the US. I think they can do it justice.
