Am I looking too much into things that the WWE gave some of their announcers fake names like Michael Cole and Tom Phillips? I mean, when it comes to fake announcer names, “Cole” and “Phillips” should just be off limits. Unless it’s just a really weird coincidence and they picked the names themselves and no one ever connected those dots.

Michael Cole’s actual surname is Coulthard so not a massive departure. Not sure about Tom Phillips though.

Yeah, Coulthard to Cole isn’t that much of a leap, but it’s still just something I think about time-to-time (this time because Impact signed Tom Hannifan).

This actually is the thing that people think they’re doing now. But they’re not.

And that’s one of the things that bothers me about people talking wholesale about advancements in modern women’s wrestling. The men’s wrestling today isn’t as good as the women were then.

I’ve said this before; maybe I just don’t get it. There’s just no skill involved in what they are doing. I appreciate that’s a snippet, but they’re just smashing each other in the face.

Way more skill in this than a modern exchange you’ll see between two guys doing soft forearms and pretending it doesn’t hurt. There’s a little bit of timing on Aja’s part here. When she chooses to go down from that last shot. Gets a big pop. And you’re right, it is just a snippet.

I will agree that a lot of stuff in the same vein doesn’t require as much skill as people say, but these two were really good imo.

It's not meant to be a display of skill, but rather physical toughness. The phrase "Victory Through Guts" is right in the AJW logo.

Besides that point, it's just a snippet, as you said. What makes AJW and a lot of classic Japanese wrestling so great is they did such a great job of combining this stuff with the actual displays of skill you're looking for.

Tom and D’Lo were pretty good last night. D’Lo has always been one of my favorites. He had a couple tongue tied moments but I liked their dynamic. Felt like a proper sports broadcasting duo

There was a point during the 10 man hardcore match that they were just giggling like idiots about the introduction of even more weapons into the match. I found it endearing. Seems like they enjoyed themselves and I hope they keep it going.

I'll never forget that Aja Kong match from 95 Raw when she fucking MURDERS her opponent Asari. 13 year old Gertner couldn't believe what he was seeing.

Charlie Haas apparently appeared at the Impact tapings tonight, took a bump, got hurt and had to be stretchered out.

Looked like she legit knocked Kong on her ass with that last slap. Probably a bit unexpected maybe? The unexpected shots are the worst.

ROH just announced that they're running Supercard of Honor on Mania weekend.

Good to see they're actually moving forward with still doing shows.
