They could have a resort attached. All the talent could have permanent residencies near their workplace. When you go down to Florida for the weather, or for Disney World or Universal Studios, you can go and see the WWE because, heck, that’s what you do when you visit Florida.

Vegas could have a similar appeal to them. Lots of tourists, permanent attractions they can piggy-back off. My guess would be Florida first, because of the PC and their presence there already.

Ive said for years House Shows no longer make sense for WWE. They have their own performance center, so if a wrestler needs to work off rust or whatever, they can just do it there. No matter how much Vince still thinks they are a traveling circus, the truth is they are a TV company. If they are making $600 million a year for Raw, Smackdown, and Peacock, and they make maybe $10,000 for a house show, if they run 200 house shows between both brands, that is only $2 million in profit for the year. That is not even 1% of thsir total income from the TV/Streaming deals. With Raw, Smackdown, and PPVs they would still have over 100 live events a year, and if they are going to each city once a year just for TV tapings, the attendance should increase as there would only be one chance a year to go instead of multiple chances.

The clusterfuck booking of this, which was easily the biggest match WCW built to in the 90s, is (imo) what began the downfall of WCW.

Classic Hogan 'that doesn't work for me brother' booking

Lots of different takes on this. Sting showing up out of shape, no tan, didnt really help. Inserting Bret's screwjob storyline into was overkill. It also didnt help that Nick Patrick was supposed to do a fastcount but counted normal. Sting should have kicked out when he realized the count wasnt fast. Such a mess.

slik 12-28-2021 06:47 PM

Sting doesn't really seem 'out of shape' though

Worst is when Hogan gives Sting the big boot when he's like barely a foot from the ring ropes leaving him nowhere to fall into place without looking like a geek

Lock Jaw 12-28-2021 07:08 PM

I remember the Hogan/Sting buildup as a kid.... to me no match was ever bigger, and hasn't been bigger since. Everyone was talking about it at school, and I think the N64 game had just come out and was popular too and had an ad for the PPV in the box.... The level of hype around that match was just legendary and I still get chills watching the entrance. The way it flashes the half-dissolves of Hogan during Sting's entrance is like the most incredible TV production ever.

Lock Jaw 12-28-2021 07:11 PM

SMH at that video slik posted not having Voodoo Child as Hogan's entrance.... takes a lot of "epicness" out of the moment.... was gonna watch Sting's entrance but had to turn it off....

Not out of shape, that is poor wording on my part. He was smaller than he had been, about 20 pounds lighter, which goes to the issue brought up by Hogan and Bischoff that he had not been dedicated to the gym during that time he was in the rafters.

Bad News Gertner 12-28-2021 09:11 PM

Sting wrestled Scott Hall in a dark match like a week before Starrcade so the whole " Sting just showed up to the show out of shape" isn't true.

Soooo it turns out the reason Scarlett didn't come with Kross to RAW had nothing to do with creative separating them. She was just out of action because one of her breast implants exploded and she wasn't cleared yet.

Not a surprise.

Mr. Nerfect 12-29-2021 05:28 AM

On Sting: I used to just see the Sting side. Pay off the fucking angle. The whole thing was booked to shit even if it went down like it was supposed to. Definitely this protecting of Hogan that screams egos of the time.

That being said, if you’ve given a guy off all this time, and he comes back looking less than they want him to (but it’s not like they couldn’t see him in the weeks and months leading up to this), it is going to cause friction. Sting had a cushy spot that was going to draw him ire if he didn’t “appreciate” it enough.

But I think it was just politics disguised as being a reasonable critique of the reality. If you’re trying to undercut a guy for your own stardom (and Hogan’s contract was expiring too), then you try to find a realistic weakness to try and knock him down some pegs.

They had Bret Hart coming in and Goldberg coming up too. Such a weird time. I can see Hogan using his status as the heel to edge himself into further importance around this time too.

The whole "Sting showed up looking bad" is such total horseshit. I can safely say virtually NO ONE as a fan watching at the time gave a shit or even noticed. It's only gained traction these last few years because Bischoff brought it up as an excuse. Even if it was the case of Sting not looking up to snuff for that night, so what? He helped draw the biggest fucking buyrate up to that point. Hogan should've said, "Thanks, brother" and laid down. You think if the shoe was on the other foot that excuse was going to fly?

This was about the only time Sting drew real money. Should he have drawn more after? Yeah, probably. But Hogan was more active in the build-up than Sting. It’s not a one-way street with Sting being awesome (ironically he wasn’t doing much). Sting needed Hogan to draw that buyrate too.

Mr. Nerfect 12-29-2021 01:05 PM

Apparently on The Bump X-Pac alluded to a wrestling return. Said he would be ring ready by 2022 in case the phone rings. Seems like a Rumble spot would be most likely.

He’d seemingly be a better agent for AEW than Billy Gunn, but is the more likely guy to end up doing spots with WWE.

ron the dial 12-29-2021 01:07 PM

could definitely see him doing some work in the ring with GCW. i know he's worked with them doing commentary in the past, and they use a number of "legends" on their shows (effy vs. 2 cold scorpio from a few months ago was really fun).

Mr. Nerfect 12-29-2021 01:11 PM

GCW would definitely use him. He’d probably get work in AEW too. But since he did this on a WWE program, you’d have to think something is in the works there, right? Unless that program is so under the radar he just went into business for himself? I honestly don’t know about that show.

I wonder what a 49 year old sober X-Pac looks like. Has he aged like milk or does he show up everyone?

Typical wwe network edit of the music, can hear the usual canned audience noise as well.
