I don't actually :-\ All i recall of sid is it taking a few years to get back on his feet then he was sporadically on the indies and that was really it. Shit way for a career to end considering how big a name he was.

Bad News Gertner 12-20-2021 06:09 PM

He's also a massive pain in the ass to deal with

His drug of choice was softball.

Bad News Gertner 12-20-2021 07:21 PM

My buddy Co hosted his podcast. Sid got rid of him like 8 months ago because he had these absurd list of demands.

Sid takes these gigs but because his wife is rich if he decides he doesn't want to do it anymore he just no shows or cancels.

Mr. Nerfect 12-21-2021 12:32 AM

Johnny the Bull strong as fuck.

So he was a face and STD was a heel?

Sixx 12-21-2021 01:57 AM

Ok, fantastic fucking mistake. Nowhere near a typo, just who the fuck knows what I had in mind. Not correcting it.

Rammsteinmad 12-21-2021 04:05 AM

I remember when Sid had his undefeated millennium man record going on. Then Goldberg speared him on an episode of Nitro leading to their PPV match (Halloween Havoc maybe?). Man, I was such a mark back then, but Sid was so good in his role as a face or a heel back then.

weather vane 12-21-2021 04:18 AM

You still are!

Kinda. The problem becomes trying to fill a roster with all Sids and no Brets. Although, for the proper analogy, I probably should have said Arn instead of Bret, but I was going for the WWE time period.

It is simultaneously hilarious and awesome that Sid was the basis for Brock Samson on Venture Bros.

Mr. Nerfect 12-21-2021 05:28 AM

Sid really highlights the difference between wrestling fans and smarks. For ages, it was cool to rag on Sid. He sucks, how did he get so many opportunities, etc. But counterpoint to that are people who just enjoyed fucking Sid.

Mr. Nerfect 12-21-2021 05:31 AM

I remember being kinda intrigued by the idea of Wade Barrett vs. The Undertaker at WrestleMania 27. The Nexus thing happened, got cooled off a bit, then Barrett helped Kane defeat Taker in Buried Alive. Thought it was setting up him getting the spot and they just snubbed him for Triple H chasing Shawn Michaels. Turns out the plan was always Triple H vs. Taker, but Nexus were supposed to be his lackeys in a heel turn. But Trips didn’t want to turn heel. Plus he probably figured not being able to beat Taker with 8 guys flanking makes him look super-weak.

weather vane 12-21-2021 05:33 AM

Sid was awesome but he was also really bad too. You can be both.

I’d rather watch clips of Chuck Palumbo in WCW than an entire episode of modern wrestling TV.

Mr. Nerfect 12-21-2021 05:37 AM

Give me Johnny the Bull deep cuts.

weather vane 12-21-2021 05:39 AM

Yeah we heard.

Mr. Nerfect 12-21-2021 05:49 AM

Holy shit, Johnny the Bull is only 44 years old. I don’t know why that surprises me lol.

I don’t remember this, but apparently he worked a match as part of The Alliance in 2001. He also won the Hardcore Title on the Raw brand before turning face after being a Heat mainstay prior to being part of The FBI. I don’t really remember him doing any of that beforehand. I guess it’s vaguely popping up now, but if you had pressed me I’d have guessed he was cut when the WWF purchased WCW, then they rehired him in 2003 when they wanted bodies for SmackDown.

Mr. Nerfect 12-21-2021 05:50 AM

This reminds me: Remember when Drew McIntyre showed up on the Raw side of things even before Vince McMahon declared him “The Chosen One?” I’m pretty sure he was a babyface and teamed with The Highlanders on Heat.

Mr. Nerfect 12-21-2021 05:52 AM

Wait, before that he teamed with Dave Taylor on SmackDown.

Mr. Nerfect 12-21-2021 06:00 AM

I remember when DH Smith was first a face on Raw too lol.

Mr. Nerfect 12-21-2021 06:10 AM

Apparently Shawn Stasiak only retired in 2010. I don’t know how reliable that is or what sort of wrestling he was doing.

Reading up on him, the guy’s career was bonkers. He once submitted a tape to the WWF dressed up as a Halloween character named “Phobia” advising kids how to trick or treat safely. It was based off the idea of a nest of spiders living under his bed.

Apparently when he beat Jerry Lawler for the services of Stacy Carter, he introduced Stacy to his “mother,” Mae Young. There’s a kayfabe relationship I didn’t know about.

weather vane 12-21-2021 07:14 AM

I miss Stasiak. I miss all the Natural Born Thrillers. So good. So horrible.

screech 12-21-2021 07:17 AM

Every few weeks I'm reminded of Planet Stasiak. What a gimmick.

Bad News Gertner 12-21-2021 08:06 AM

Fucking TREMENDOUS gimmick

People on youtube still think this was legit. They can't see the obvious edit at 2:16 (both hands on top of the roof then both hands underneath the chassis) nor hear the jack they used to jack it up to an angle falling away at the same time.

Is there anyone left who can strike anywhere near that good?

Damian Rey 2.0 12-22-2021 01:35 AM

Nope

Evil Vito 12-22-2021 09:18 AM

Scotty Too Hotty vs. Joey Janela booked for GCW's New Years Day show lmao

Supreme Olajuwon 12-22-2021 12:04 PM

Scotty looks great. In way better shape than Janela

weather vane 12-22-2021 01:13 PM

Janela looking much better these days. Very good job.

weather vane 12-22-2021 01:15 PM

I remember seeing somebody throw a real good punch lately. Can’t remember who. Might of been from back in the day though?

Mr. Nerfect 12-22-2021 02:59 PM

As chance would have it, it was probably Scotty 2 Hotty.

Hook threw some decent body shots in his debut
