Why though?

IDK, might visually freshen things up
I liked the cage Riddle and Tim Thatcher used for a match too, 'The Fight Pit' https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NlweD36HV...the%2BCage.gif https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ADyyIEIWR...rm%2BSmash.gif |
That's like putting whipped cream on a hot dog just because "it's different".

But our ring has six sides

Seriously, NXT 2.0 is a deliberate step away from having a bunch of guys who's entire identity is "Guy who Wrestles Good" to having a bunch of wrestlers with different and various identities. |

Tajiri and Mutoh are teaming now? That's awesome.

Now, whether or not it is achieving what they want it to remains to be seen. Ridge Holland and Von Wagner seem like the first tests of that. Quote:

Well the ratings suggest that’s the case.

Is NXT still shown on the Network (I guess via Peacock now?). I think it’s always been the case that a slice of the younger audience watches via that. If they already had it for NXT pre-USA, PPVs and the library, it may just be easier access for some of them that further justifies staying subscribed. Or they just don’t have cable. When Meltzer and the like talk about the average age of that NXT audience, they’re talking about the age of the audience that watches on USA. And sure, that might have skewered up since the changeover. But it’s still this slightly disingenuous extrapolation from the data. |

I was out of town with family, so I didn't get the opportunity to wish the folks here at TPWW a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope all of your bellies and hearts were full.
|
I was just looking up all of the free agents on wrestling right now and it's kind of an insane list of talent that are available. I really hope that Jarrett and Conrad go into buisness on a promotion together. If they had a solid financial plan to run a company that could offer good contracts for a roster that would be a great thing for wrestling. There are too few contracts for the amount of talent that are unsigned right now.
|
No one should open a promotion with Jarrett.
Remember GFW Gold or some shit? C'mon. Remember GFW in general? |
Noid should open a promotion with Jarrett.

Jeff Jarrett also brought NJPW to the US.

Danielson said in an interview that he hates being on his phone and has, legitimately, almost 3,000 unread texts. He does not check his phone.
And here I hate seeing just 1 notification. |
Impact is still going after all these years. Longer than WCW and ECW combined I believe or close to it.
|
I’ve been very critical of TNA, but if Impact Wrestling outlasts AEW, part of me is going to mark out. I just want someone else to make a real play. Break open the bank, go after The Briscoes, Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, Erick Rowan and Ryback. Bring in Johnny Curtis.
Jeff Jarrett deserves respect, but he’s not beyond reproach. Not sure if Jeff Jarrett and Conrad Thompson selling gold mortgages is for me, but we’ll see. Jeff does know wrestling. It just depends on what sort of starting capital they have and whether or not they can secure a good slot somewhere. |
Watched the first two episodes of Ruthless Aggression season two. Really good series. First one was Hollywood Rock, second was "innovations" - Elimination Chamber, Money in the Bank, RAW Roulette, Punjabi Prison - may be forgetting one.
Enjoying the new season so far. |

It was never going to work. |
The only thing holding it back was capital. That’s the one thing AEW has had behind it that has allowed of it to take even the small hold it has. It bought its way to some big stars and a TNT deal.
If Jeff Jarrett had $100 million to invest and could have purchased some top stars, we’d be singing a different story. Hell, TNA became GFW for a while. |
Regardless, I still think Jarrett has good business sense. He was one of the first people to recognize the potential of the Australian market, and as Jordan stated, helped popularize njpw stateside. And that's before you get into tna, which, for all its loltna moments is still one of the most successful and long lasting promotions of the modern era.
|
The thing that impresses me about TNA is that it had to build at least a little bit. There were growing pains and obstacles to overcome. AEW, even if you love it, is in a completely bought position.
|
This June will be 20 YEARS for Impact. That's crazy.
|
Yeah, it’s insane when you start comparing it to other stretches of time. Take Shawn Michaels debuting in the WWF. 20 years from that takes you up to him superkicking Ric Flair in the face.
|
Children born in 2002 are almost old enough to drink with you at a bar in the US. They have been old enough to do so in Australia for a couple of years. If they happen to be wrestling fans, they don’t remember a day in their life without some incarnation of TNA Wrestling.
