I hate all of you who have access to AEW live shows. The closest they’ve come here is Double or Nothing. Vegas is only an hour flight but man I wish they’d come to San Diego.

They haven’t done a show in LA yet? That seems strange.

I don’t think so. It’s absolutely make that drive and make a day out of it. It’s California a wrestling hot bed? I have no idea. I’ve never felt that we’ve had hot crowds any time I’ve gone to a wwe show except doesn’t the attitude era

The furthest west they got in early 2020 was Utah, and that was the same day "shit got real" with COVID for most of us with Hanks, Gobert, etc.

I think the threat of California bringing back restrictions at a moments' notice has kept them away longer than they were planning, but supposedly they do plan on finally getting out there in early 2022.

Pretty much the only reason I still had the network was for the documentaries.

At least Ruthless Aggression season two is out (& I already had peacock).

Anyone listening to the new Flair podcast? I just started the latest episode. So far so good. Madden seems pretty structured in the program which is surprising.

Northern and Southern California both seem to have relatively big independent scenes. And when there are major WWE events in LA the crowds tend to be hot by current WWE standards.

Based on that and the fact that AEW seems to do well live around the rest of the country AND The Bucks are from there (plus I think Omega has ties), I can’t imagine LA not being a place AEW would want to go multiple times a year.

I've never been a Dick Slater fan. I enjoy Buck on his own just because of his character, and I'm a Jimmy Golden fan, but the two combined are pretty rough. Especially Slater.

Maybe the guy was too weird? I don’t know. Seems off that they said zero chance it sees the light of day.

From all accounts Vlad is a great guy.

Is the show actually specifically designed to appeal to younger viewers though? That’s Dave’s take with them using younger talent. I’m sure they would like to magically gain younger viewers and generally increase viewership, but where is this “they’re after that specific demo” thing coming from?

How did viewership do? I know it hasn’t been great, but has it been significantly down from NXT 1.0? If that is holding, or just decreasing slightly, for all we know they consider the show a success?

I haven’t followed NXT 2.0. There was some stuff on the first show I liked (The Creed Brothers, Rex Steiner, Ben Buchanan). But I think there is a better pro-wrestling show featuring developmental talent that could appeal to a wider audience. I’m thinking more along the lines of pre-Network NXT. Some developmental acts with familiar names mixed in. But I’m just saying the “haha, look at that demo that they were after” narrative is possibly a little skewed.

I actually think acts like Toxic Attraction are designed to appeal to older audiences. They’re basically The Beautiful People, right?
