I have no memory of this.

RVD scored a pinfall victory over World (Heavyweight) Champion Rey Mysterio before his match against John Cena for the WWE Championship. Talk about playing second fiddle...

According to the Observer Newsletter, WWE is currently working on several ideas and plans for next year's WrestleMania 38 weekend in Dallas.

Besides the idea to do another two-day event, they are also consider the idea of holding WrestleMania 38 as just a regular one day show but would hold the next night's RAW in the stadium as well.

In regards to SmackDown's go-home show, WWE is currently considering holding it in a different city due to American Airlines Center being booked for something else that night.

They also brought up doing both Saturday and Sunday Mania and were looking into planning, security, insurance, cost of production, length of the event two days vs. one day and other locations for shows that weekend. Smackdown right now can’t be held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas because the Mavericks have the date. Often the Smackdown before Mania is taped ahead anyway so talent can get into town, but on FOX maybe they don’t want to do that this year. They are also looking at Gerald Ford Stadium, which holds 32,000, as a possible home for Smackdown and Raw because they expect so many tourists in town for the weekend

A: I really wanted to do Kurt Angle vs Danielson when Angle got released. I had him booked and everything. Then TNA pulled canceled it, and said he is not taking indy bookings in the end. Was looking into running a bigger venue for that one as well.

So Matt Cardona wanted to invoke his GCW title rematch clause and insert himself into the upcoming Moxley v Nick Gage title match. He was informed he'd have to earn the spot by defending his Internet Championship belt.

He was promptly rolled up by Effy in about -7 seconds and lost the Internet title.

According to Fightful Select, WWE recently held several high-level meetings with FOX to discuss a variety of things and plans.

Based on their sources from the FOX side, the network hasn't been that happy over SmackDown's ratings compared to expectations and WWE's constant promotion of NBC's rival Peacock streaming service but its also not at a level where it could seriously affect WWE's standing with FOX when it comes to the next tv contracts talks.

Same for FOX's boss not being too fond of Vince McMahon's upcoming television series since it likely will be portraying him in a negative light but also not something right now where it could negatively impact WWE's next tv contracts talks.

Fightful Select has a lengthy report discussing the relationship between the wrestling company and network, which notes that Vince McMahon and Nick Khan met with FOX Sports CEO Eric Shanks and FS Head of Production Brad Zager on the night before SummerSlam.

According to the report, which notes that they have spoken with reps and sources from “many levels” in WWE, FOX, FOX Sports, NBCU, Peacock and USA Network. It makes clear that the sources don’t represent Fox, NBC Universal, Peacock, Tubi, The USA Network or WWE as a whole.

According to the report, while a source at FOX has acknowledged that WWE’s viewership for Smackdown have been disappointing compared to their expectations, that’s been difficult to gauge for sure due to the pandemic being in effect for much of that relationship. Sources from both sides pointed out that Smackdown is still the most watched wrestling TV show in the world.

While one FOX source said that the network has not been incredibly pleased with constantly promoting Peacock, several sources said that it hasn’t been a serious issue. Sources on both sides noted that WWE talent have been heavily featured on FOX, FOX Sports and the like to promote SummerSlam, which is prime programming for FOX. It was also noted by a WWE source that if FOX wanted the PPV content, they could have paid the price that Peacock ultimately did.

It was also noted Fightful’s FOX source that discussed the ratings numbers that the news that Rupert Murdoch will likely be portrayed in a negative way in the upcoming scripted series about Vince McMahon is a “childish move” that won’t help the WWE/FOX relationship. Murdoch had met with Stephanie McMahon, Triple H and others in May 2018 to lure WWE’s programming from USA.

However, it was also said that Vince McMahon has had a conversation with Murdoch in recent months and the topic wasn’t broached, with the relationship between the two families being “one of great respect.”

FOX has felt that WWE bringing back John Cena, Brock Lesnar and Becky Lynch has shown an effort to go above and beyond in stacking up the roster since fans returned to live events.

Regarding the WWE/FOX meetings, the two sides reportedly met during SummerSlam for about four hours and it was said from WWE’s side to have been productive. McMahon and Khan have decided to nix a discussed Raw at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in order to appease FOX so that the first show in the city for WWE can be the December 10th Smackdown, which is expected to be announced shortly.

I’m interested to see how much leverage WWE has when their current deals are up. Yes they are absolutely worth more than AEW from a TV rights and content standpoint. But how much more? If AEW is regularly pulling 1m views or more Wednesday nights, what is going to compel any TV network to pay what Vince is currently getting for rights? I’d imagine still more than AEW but how much more?

Lol, FOX knew what they were getting into, you moron. They knew they had business partners in NBC Universal. This stuff is such bullshit, and even admits it’s bullshit, yet you still lap it up.

WrestleMania is either going to be a one day show or a two day show, and it’s going to be held in a big building. Great scoop there, ace.

The only thing that matters is if the Iron Shiek actually makes it to the ring for the WM X-7 Gimmick Battle Royal by the time the main show of WrestleMania 38 starts.

Is there an actual kayfabe reason or wrestling logic reason for the difference between a wrestler putting their nickname in the front of their ring name compared to putting it in the middle of their name? Or is the difference just simply a cosmetic choice?

Was watching RAW earlier and had the thought pop up when Keith Lee showed up under his new "Bearcat" nickname. In Lee's case, his new nickname was in the middle of his ring name.

XL 09-28-2021 03:39 AM

I think it would have worked better as “Bearcat” Keith Lee, seems odd with it in the middle. Probably moot as he’ll just be “Bearcat” by the end of the year.

I guess it comes down to how it rolls off the tongue. There are instances where both have been used; Bret “(The) Hitman” Hart/“The Hitman” Bret Hart and Randy “Macho Man” Savage/“Macho Man” Randy Savage are 2 that come to mind.
