Could never get past the prehistroic part of Ecco The Dolphin, ended up getting a code from Games Master to skip to the last level and it ended up being possibly the most ridiculously hard autoscrolling maze bullet hell dolphin simulator I've ever seen.

According to the producer of the Resident Evil series, Capcom could be enticed to allow a HD remake of Resident Evil 2 to be made if there is massive support for it by fans of the game.

Yoshiaki Hirabayashi states he would like to work on the project but would need a massive amount of support by the fans to try to convince Capcom to approve of the project.

He did warn that even with the support, there is no actual guarantees of the project starting since Capcom could still refuse.

Quote:

"If the fans really clamor for it; if there's a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that's something Capcom would take under consideration," producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi told GameSpot. "Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there's no rumor-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now."

I tried the demo. It's a wrestling game in which I didn't do much wrestling. 90% of the time, the AI just kicks just as I press the grapple button. Then it climbs on the turnbuckle, taunts and jumps down.

I was amused by the Trey Parker Southpark Hillbilly style "Yeeeehuuuurrrrrrr" when the wrestler throws a hand into the air as a taunt.

Ubisoft announces during a recent investor conference they think the free-to-play model should expand on consoles by favoring fully priced games instead of the current focus on free or cheap downloadable games.

Ubisoft revealed they are planning in the near future to start releasing more of their Triple A fully priced games into the free-to-play model on consoles while also hinting the model can easily become the new dominate model for the console market in the near future.

The idea is instead of having the free-to-play model favoring actual free games or cheap downloadable games which then add in micro-transactions, the model should start off with a larger fully priced game and then add in more item-based transactions. Companies can then earn more revenues this way than with the current model or even then what the current DLC can provide.

Ubisoft’s chief financial officer Alain Martinez said:
Quote:

“Free-to-play is a very flexible business model,” said Stéphanie Perotti, Ubisoft’s worldwide director of online. “The player has the capability to spend more than in a traditional model.”

“There will be free-to-play on consoles,” Martinez said. “But in the future, with games like Watch Dogs, we could see more opportunity for $60 games to learn from the free-to-play model. The next generation will offer more and more item-based content,” Martinez. “This will benefit our games’ profitability.”
Of course the biggest benefactors would be larger gaming companies who can afford to produce and support more fully priced games than smaller companies.

Went to my first game expo!

Played:
  • Halo 4 - Played a FFA "King" match on some map. It just looked like any other Halo game to others I bet, felt and looked like it. Not much changed. As a Halo uber fan. I was in love! Fucking destroyed the casual gamers!
  • AC3 - Was really fun, seemed harder than the previous games. Sea battles were wank/graphics for sea battles alone were abysmal.
  • Gears of War Judgement - Played the new multiplayer mode, it was horde vs beast mode. It worked really well, had to play as medic while as a cog, which kind of sucked...
  • Hitman - Only played this to get a free figure . It was fun though, they've picked up alot of stuff from AC. Poisoned some guys drink, killed a cop, stole his uniform then forgot to put my gun away and got raped.
  • PS Allstars - WORKS SO WELL! Won a couple of matches, tried out Sir Dan and Jak. Having played heaps of SSB helped tons.
  • Zombiu - Queued 2 hours for this cunt... Got on it, was pretty awkward to control at first if i'm honest. Graphics were pretty shit, when looting a body it took 5 minutes to take everything and place it in my backpack, using the WiiU controller screen. Also sniping just didn't work. Aimed the controller at the screen, lined up my shot, whether it be head, body or the gas canister the zombie had on its back. Nothing ever hit. Was good to get a look at the WiiU. Pretty much changed my mind on a day one purchase...

While the Xbox 360 was initially banned in Germany, US courts and the International Trade Commission have overturned the potential of the ban being applied in the United States.

The courts sided with Microsoft who was fighting to keep the system available in the US while Motorola and Google argued it should be pulled due to Microsoft infringing on several patents owned by Motorola. The original case occurred in Germany which was won by Motorola and appealed by Microsoft to the ITC.

The ITC deferred the decision to the US courts who recently sided with Microsoft in their decision to dismiss the ban.

The legal mess between both sides originally started in regards to a piece of video encoding tech found in the Xbox 360 which Motorola claimed was infringing on a patent they own.

Motorola and Google had a feeling they would lose the case in the US which is why earlier they tried to offer a settlement deal with Microsoft who flat out rejected the offer.

Archos is going to be releasing a tablet called the Gamepad, an Android tablet that should operated along similar lines to Ouya (but probably much more expensive). It's a 7 inch screen with a full controller built around it, so sort of like WiiU. It actually looks more like a thinner PSP/Vita.

Archos also claims they're working with Android devs to bring "thousands" of titles compatibility with the controller scheme, so probably like Ouya.

Anyway, it's interesting. And I generally like Archos.

Ubisoft blames the lukewarm reactions towards the Splinter Cell Blacklist trailers as being the fans fault for being "misinformed" more than the company itself not doing a good enough job hyping the game.

In an interview with Eurogamer, David Footman who is the director for the game states the current reception to the game is due to people having "knee-jerk reactions" while the company itself is deliberately being slow giving out information on the overall experience for the game.

Quote:

"Everyone can make kneejerk reactions to a vertical slice of the game that are really uninformed as to what the whole experience is like," director David Footman told Eurogamer. "We really have to be patient as we roll out each item about the game.
Ubisoft is also aware about the E3 debut being the source of all the complaints with people worried the game is moving away too much from the series stealth style in order to favor a lot more action and violence moments. Ubisoft is promising there is stealth gameplay but also coincide they are pushing a lot more in the action direction for the game.

Quote:

"What we showed at E3 was very explosive, very violent. That kind of stuff tends to get shown, but as we roll out different aspects of the game you'll see a lot more diversity and lot more of what hardcore fans are expecting to see. There are two distinct styles of gameplay -- you can ghost a map, or you can go wild as well. There are some areas you'll have to play stealth, but there are areas where you'll find it hard if you don't use wide-open action."
Footman stated complaints about the game going overboard with excessive violence and torture is justified because the same stuff happens in the real world regardless if it actually fits with the Splinter Cell style of past games.

Ubisoft is planning to focus a lot of the game's hype as being a "Hollywood blockbuster" which is the main reason for the emphasis on action and a potential new direction for the series future.

Classic Splinter Cell is dead. Well at least Mercs vs Spies is back and perhaps some people can enjoy the new style of the series.

Kane Knight 10-03-2012 01:30 AM

I always love the damage control.

"When you see more, you'll know how wrong you are."

I'd say a good 80-90% of the time, that's wrong.

Kalyx triaD 10-03-2012 03:39 AM

The directed missile-strike in the E3 demo pretty much told me everything I needed to know. This is not the quiet sneaky Splinter Cell, it's Conviction's engine pushed through a FPS filter. They shouldn't fault gamers for calling it like they see it, especially with that summer blockbuster trailer. And if there is sneaky shit in their, why not show it?

Fignuts 10-03-2012 09:52 AM

I loved Conviction. Spent so much time in deniable ops.

Only problem with that game, was that the enemies would still talk shit, even when a dozen of their friends lie dead around them.

Needs to take a cue from the batman games, and make enemies more nervous as you take out more people in the area.
