Those Power Plant guys were so fucking rotten. I believe that's Dave Burkhead

screech 06-05-2021 05:28 PM

Who was training them that they looked so clueless?

Vastardikai 06-05-2021 05:35 PM

So, has anyone actually thought about how insane the Shield was?

Like, We are gonna debut three guys in the same time, in the same group. That Samoan Guy is obviously a star... but, so is the crazy eyed one... but, so is the traditionally good looking guy. We need to protect these guys and build them up.

Seriously, how do you just somehow manage to debut the Main Event of your show for the next 5 years in the same night? It'd be the equivalent of, in the '80s, debuting Randy Savage, Ric Flair, and Hulk Hogan in the same night. That is unprecedented.

the funny thing is 3 man band came up at the same time and slater thought he was going to get roman and seth and not drew and jender

Vastardikai 06-05-2021 05:56 PM

And 3 Man Band is the only thing close to the Shield, and most of the time they played second fiddle to Hornswaggle.

erickman 06-05-2021 06:04 PM

of the 2 groups slater was the only one not to get the big title

Buddy Lee Parker and Jody Hamilton (The Assassin)

All the guys that came from the Power Plant were in crazy shape but the shits in ring.

The Power Plant was eventually sold to Curtis Hughes. Yes, Mr. Hughes has a wrestling school. And he's trained some pretty good folks. Including Heath Slater.

Bad News Gertner 06-06-2021 08:42 AM

I heard Curtis is an excellent trainer as well

Lock Jaw 06-06-2021 10:53 AM

TPWW Curtis

Thing is, with a guy like Kenny Omega, I could believe it could actually be him....

If it were me, I would have taken the opposite approach. I'd be the type of asshole who signs up under an assumed name, and shits on my "real" name.

For example, if I were true to this gimmick, it would be revealed through thorough internet sleuthing that *I* am actually HHH.

At GCW last night, a druid attached Nick Gage. Crowd pops huge assuming it's Jon Moxley. The druid seemingly confirms it by hitting Gage with the Paradigm Shift, crowd goes bananas.

Except the druid unmasked as Matt Cardona, and and the realization of the crowd that they'd been tricked got him big heat. Tremendous.

Bad News Gertner 06-07-2021 10:42 AM

God I hope the border is open by the fall. GCW are coming to Michigan in October.

Fignuts 06-07-2021 10:55 AM

Brian Last having an aneurysm because Cornette has never heard of Microsoft office.

And then has a second aneurysm when Cornette suggests his own crypto currency while having no clue how crypto currency actually works.

What an amazing segment.

Just watched this and it is indeed a fine little swerve

Sepholio 06-07-2021 04:43 PM

‘92-‘96 (pre-NWO) WCW Saturday Night is my go-to wrestling comfort watch.

Bad News Gertner 06-07-2021 07:44 PM

I'm gonna tackle 1997 next and work my way backwards. I love when two low card/jobbers face each other.

#1-norm-fan 06-07-2021 08:04 PM

There was a short stint where they would do a weekly jobber vs jobber match. I can’t remember the name of the segment but these were JOBBER jobbers. A notch below the Joey Maggses of the company.

Bad News Gertner 06-07-2021 09:00 PM

Wasn't that during Bill Watts tenure

#1-norm-fan 06-07-2021 09:28 PM

I’m pretty sure.

Hey, Blitzkreig had to build up credibility somewhere before his weekly WorldWide loss to a "star".

Fignuts 06-08-2021 08:50 AM

I got to see Blitzkreig's television debut live. Also saw Will Sasso cost Bret Hart the US Title on that show.

Bad News Gertner 06-08-2021 09:32 AM

Oh shit I remember that show lol

Lmao I remember you sent a comment in SCG Radio about The Godfather's random heel turn in 2002 and just opening the comment with "I was watching a 2002 episode of Metal" prompted a "WHY?"

Bad News Gertner 06-08-2021 09:59 AM

Lmao!!! I love this shit.

Big Vic 06-08-2021 02:31 PM

Lol I remember that story anyone got a link to the episode?

Mr. Nerfect 06-08-2021 05:14 PM

Metal was the shit back in the day. Felt so fresh seeing guys you wouldn’t normally see.

Bad News Gertner 06-08-2021 05:20 PM

Say that after you've seen the 100th Mideon match lol.

erickman 06-08-2021 07:47 PM

Ehhh that is nitpicking, it was a pull apart brawl. In theory that should make it much harder to land punches.

Sepholio 06-08-2021 10:47 PM

nah thats bad right there Xrod. He was pulling those punches WAY too early.
