This is the whole match, but Danielson smashing into the announce table starts at 3:45.

The Jayman 02-24-2010 08:16 AM

this was a good show. I enjoyed it. I also love the fact that Stryker is the backstage announcer. His segment with bryan was golden

Jimmy Cones 02-24-2010 08:22 AM

If every show after this is half as good as this one then they have a great season ahead of them. I like how Cole has decided that since he can't win over the internet fans, he's just going to hate on us. Why didn't that happen sooner? Punks reactions, Daniels push, and they've even started establishing a lot of character all in one show. I'm impressed... well more then impressed actually. I need to go wash the love stains out of my pants now.

Indifferent Clox 02-24-2010 09:28 AM

Yeah i was beeming about this all night. Fell asleep nice and esy, this is easily the greatest night in wrestling history and they should have tony shivanne just end the show with that every night, and on special occassions do a rendition of goodnight moon.

Indifferent Clox 02-24-2010 09:31 AM

Goodnight Danielson, who muttilates the cows
goodnight Bizzarro Cena, with your dragonball style
goodnight Cole, who has his doubts
goodnight shawn michaels, who regained his smile

btw i am pretty sure that is not the biggest audeince dnielson has wrestled in front of. JAPAN he wrestled in front of like well more than were at smackdown tapings or whatever.

The Show Off 02-24-2010 11:18 AM

He looked worse after a match of taking Roderick Strong chops.

The Show Off 02-24-2010 11:26 AM

I like how Cole said "These internet fans just believe anything they read on the dirt sheets" when refering to Daniel Bryan as if internet fan never saw him wrestle and simply love him for his hype.

Couldn't really do that as my stream didn't start until five minutes into the show and it had really bad lag and the people in the chat were idiots.

Basically, my stream sucked.

Try the stream on channelsurfing next time. I watched the whole thing and didn't have any issues with it.

Can't wait to see Wade Barrett get to have a match - I fully expect him to shove the cape off a la M. Bison.

Gertner 02-24-2010 01:58 PM

Wade Barrett voice is tremendous. Really enjoyed the show. Liked Cole's commentating. lol I'm sure all the fat ass ROH fans were throwing their remotes at the t.v's.

Honestly, this is probably the case for a lot of the "WWE Universe".

At this point I believe he's referring only to the WWE.com community.

Mr. C 02-24-2010 05:26 PM

Does this mean Jim Ross is coming back next week on RAW?

Dorkchop 02-24-2010 07:09 PM

Cole's commentating was too annoying. I like the idea behind it though. Cole was just too aggressive though. I wish Canada got NXT at a decent timeslot... if we even get it.

I wonder if WWE are planning on having him face Miz at Mania for the US title.

Xero 02-24-2010 07:34 PM

NXT did a 1.4 apparently. Not bad.

Not bad at all.

Just watched the match. Despite being short, it was well done and did a great job of showcasing Danielson without giving him too much credit against Jericho.

The "vintage" Walls of Jericho was a great touch.

I'm pretty pissed I fell asleep before this aired.

I just watched an FCW ep off of youtube to put for my draft vid of Barrett and I gotta say he's way ahead of Danielson on the promo level and he fits the mold of guys WWE likes to push. Totally just realized though they missed the boat on giving him Regal as a pro. I could see Regal being his manager when he makes it to RAW/SD totally though. Maybe even a Tag Team with Sheamus..that would be all kinds of badass I think.

muffalufagus 02-25-2010 01:51 AM

I love the camera angles they use inthis show. That was a fantastic match between AmDrag and Jericho. Loved the vintage tamer. I really hope the WWE uses Danielson well. With the quality of Smackdown and Raw as of late, and this show... dare i say... wrestling is getting good?

Juan 02-25-2010 03:08 AM

Wrestling Observer:

Vince McMahon was reportedly pleased with Daniel Bryan's performance on last night's premiere episode of WWE NXT as he felt they made him "a star" in one night as a result of his interaction with The Miz and match with Chris Jericho.

St. Jimmy 02-25-2010 03:19 AM

Old School Lion Tamer. Good match. Danielson is an asset to the company, that whole exchange between Cole and Matthews was pretty hilarious - cole is an epic fucking tool.

Jeritron 02-25-2010 03:19 AM

All they have to do is keep it up. The format and the momentum will do the rest. As long as they keep putting him in good matches, and letting him go, the crowd is ready to get behind him.

el bobbo 02-25-2010 04:57 AM

This match was the best moment of nationally televised (WWE) wrestling of 2010. Can anyone find me a better example?

This NXT concept really plays well to us internet marks. We demand some kind of realism in our storylines and they are delivering it. I can also see how "everyday" fans can enjoy this. Overall, this was a really good first show, I can't wait til the next, and I hope we can get some of this every Tuesday on "SyFy" and still get some decent stuff on Smackdon (I gave up on Raw).

el bobbo 02-25-2010 04:58 AM

I keep on thinking that the WWE marketing staff is reading TPWW...

kareru 02-25-2010 07:44 AM

i haven't seen nxt yet but it sounded like a pretty good show

GoneFishing 02-25-2010 10:26 AM

NXT seems to be pleasing the internet.... Jericho has his own internet fan, lol.

Johnny McNasty 02-25-2010 12:14 PM

Just finished watching this, and have to say the whole premise of the show was executed flawlessly. The live interactions with the fans, the chemistry between the rookies and pros, mid match interviews, and even the camera angles where very well done and refreshing. I can only think this is how tough enough should have been done.

Otunga was impressive, and has a very good look about him.

Wade Barrett has an amazing voice, as has been said already. Also glad to see his head wasn't as tiny as the WWE.com photos made it out to be.

Darren Young and Punk is an absolute wonderful pairing, and I can't wait for more interactions between these two.

Michael Tarver didn't impress me much, but interesting enough character I guess.

Heath Slater is kinda of an odd ball. His look is unique, but there is something about him that just doesn't feel right. Pretty good in the ring though.

Daniel Bryan was very impressive I'd have to say. Seen a couple of his matches online, and read a little bit about him, but was by no means a fan before the show. Now after seeing his WWE debut, the way he handled himself with the Miz, and his first match I would say I'm definitely a fan. Speaking of him and Miz the tension between the two was noticeable right off the bat, and how it built up though out the show was nicely done. Also him taking it to the World Heavyweight Champion was awesome, as was the old school lion tamer. I see huge things for Daniel Bryan.

Definitely will be checking this show out every tuesday, and already anticipating next week's episode and seeing the other rookies.

addy2hotty 02-25-2010 02:09 PM

I really really enjoyed this show, which surprised me.

Danielson/Bryan was pretty damn amazing for a debut in the big time taking on Jericho and jockeying with The Miz. Jericho made him look like a million dollars and despite just having won the WHC took some punishment (I thought he was going to tap) - I think it speaks volumes that he's the only main eventer who WOULD do this let alone put on a clinic with Bryan.

The pairings idea seems like the best thing about the show and Punk was simply incredible in his role and I hope we see more of him not giving a shit about Young.

I'm a fan, I hope it continues in this way and they don't start fucking with the format.

I haven't seen Punk's segemt(s) yet, but I wouldn't mind seeing him ignore Young to the point where you have Young following him like a puppy, begging for attention, and gets desperate to the point where he willingly offers to accept Straight Edge just for Punk's attention.

Tazz Dan 12-07-2012 04:56 AM

Yeah, sorry about the thread bump, but this was an epic night. The debut of Daniel Bryan, and Cole's heel turn. Good times.

Pfft. That moment was dwarfed by the last pop Carlito ever got. MONSTROUS. At least 10 people cheered.
